Breakfast/ Lunch

A Bread Baby

Happy Saturday!

Its FINALLY here!

I actually don’t have a weekend this time though-–I have Sunday off but that is it because I have to go to a night training class next week and as a result my work schedule is all wiggy. At least I got tomorrow off though and then next week my Sunday/Monday off days should be back to normal.

This morning I had a deeeeelicious larabar:

And oats for breakfast, of course! This is 3/4 cup oats with 1 cup skim milk, 1/2 cup water, cinnamon, chocolate almond butter and blueberries. Here’s an actual picture to change things up —

Work was good—I love working Saturdays actually because the store is alive and kickin’ and people are buying my bread left and right! I got to talk to some customers today so that was fun and I tried a new walnut sourdough as well as a soft pretzel recipe. I feel like all day long, all I’ve been doing is tasting bread. Actually, I feel like I have a child of bread inside of me right now.

I had a taste of the sourdough, a taste of cinnamon sugar pretzel and then my mom met me for lunch and we “shared” (aka I ate the majority of) a sunflower flax whole wheat roll. We each got bowls of delicious shrimp bisque and ate outside because it is chilly but sunny!

I think the funniest thing that happened all day was that I was conned into tasting the rye starter.

Now, those of you that don’t “know” bread, don’t know what I’m talking about so I will try to explain. To make a starter you add flour (in our case 100% rye flour) and water and just let it sit and ferment for days and days. Gases are formed along with a natural strand of yeast, called “wild yeast”. YOU DON’T WANT TO EAT THIS. Mainly because it has the texture of gritty toothpaste and tastes just like a football player’s dirty socks. However, today I got “initiated” into the bread club. My manager finally got me to taste it and everyone cheered and laughed as my face went from normal to BRIGHT red and I rushed to the sink to spit, rinse and use a paper towel on my tongue. And then I tried to drown out the rest of the nastiness by chugging my guava synergy (yes, I buy them once a week on Saturday now and guava is the BEST flavor yet!).

So, needless to day, no more bread for me today. Until maybe tonight. Haha 😉

I don’t know whats going on for the rest of the day yet. I might be going with Ryan and some friends to see all the Superbowl stuff (since it is HERE tomorrow!) and we are “supposed” to go to a party tonight with Nelly the rapper (haha I’m serious) but I really don’t know if I can make it that far since I’ve only been up since 3 in the morning. We are playing it by ear!

I’m off to change and go meet the boy. See you tonight!

This verse has been racing through my head all last night and this morning. I’d like to work on memorizing more verses and I definitely have this one down now. It just randomly popped into my head last night and I can’t get it out!—-

“One thing God has spoken,

two things have I heard:

that you, O God, are strong,

and that you, O Lord, are loving.” Psalm 62: 11-12

Hey Jenna. I’m studying abroad this semester in Paris and want to continue my Bikram yoga practice, but I will be on a tight budget. I was just wondering how expensive it was for you to take classes there. Any suggestions would be great thanks!

      Allison,

It was so long ago that honestly I don’t even remember. I know I went to the Bikram Paris studio and I actually paid and got week passes. I think it was expensive but I remember thinking “this is SO worth it!!”. Be aware though—-the classes are in French!

I cannot believe you tried the starter! Ugh, that must have tasted awful, but now you’re a member of the club. Do you get a jacket? 🙂

Hope you get to enjoy some Superbowl festivities. Have a good day Jenna and thanks for the verse.

Too funny! I used to work in a place that the initiation was getting dipped head first into the slop bucket. Lucky for me, they only did that to the guys!
