Good morning!
Happy Sunday 🙂
This is going to be quick because I’m off to get dressed real fast, meet Jessica for coffee and head to church. Thank goodness I can wear jeans to my church 😉
I had the most delightful bowl of pumpkin oats this morn’!
mmmmmm I used 1/2 cup oats, 1 cup water, 1/4 cup organic pumpkin pie mix, 1 small naner, blueberries, almond butter, cinnamon and maple syrup. Twas yummy!
My right quad is a little tight from yesterday….mentally noting myself to do some downward facing dogs and stretches later!
See you in a bit!

I love being able to wear jeans to church too, not to stuffy, just praising the Lord in all our jean glory!

September 6, 2009 at 9:45 amI need to get some canned pumpkin. I didn’t make a list yesterday when I went to the store shopping. I picked up lots of other good stuff but totally forgot my main reason for going…the pumpkin!
I used to wear jeans to church…before I became the pastor. 🙂 Occassionally I still do while on vacation at the beach. Now I have to wear my uniform each sunday (Salvation Army).

September 6, 2009 at 10:02 amWay to kick off a fall Sunday on the right and correct foot with some pumpkin oats. My mom just pulled out some PUMPKIN CHOCOLATE CHIP MUFFINS she had left over from the freezer- my favorite muffin recipe of all time.
Also- read that you found the PB&J Larabars at Whole Foods yesterday, I am on a mission to find those babies!

September 6, 2009 at 10:05 amMy quads and hamstrings are super tight from running yesterday! Think I will go with you and do some yoga stretches later…they make everything better! And on that note, I might need to go and copy that breakfast of yours!!

September 6, 2009 at 11:00 amLove the idea of pumpkin oats, but am curious: are you cooking the oats with the pumpkin or adding them in after you cook the oatmeal or are you not cooking it at all and eating it more like muesli?
jenna
September 6, 2009 at 2:22 pmSallyH,
I cook the oats and then right before I eat it I add the pumpkin 🙂
Dee,
it does! Sort of “spicy” and you can taste nutmeg and cloves.

September 6, 2009 at 11:05 amI can’t thank you enough for introducing the idea of pumpkin in oatmeal. It’s a wonderful food marriage, like peanut butter and chocolate. I, too, had some pumpkin oatmeal (sprinkled with berries and a tad of maple syrup) after a 6 miler this morning. Some scrambled egg whites (little extra protein) + basil+ sprinkle of reduced fat mozzarella on the side and you have a great recovery meal.
Happy Sunday!

September 6, 2009 at 1:25 pmyour approach to diet is very intriguing. I googled “eat to run” and it yielded this site number one. I would imagine you have a rather large bill at the grocery store with the sorts of things you are eating. It really bothers me that adding whole foods and not eating everything processed takes such a toll on my wallet. I wish better, healthier foods were more readily available to everyone. Adios.

September 6, 2009 at 2:06 pmPumpkin oats — great idea! What brand of pumpkin pie filling do you use?
I’ve had the pumpkin ale before, it’s delicious! (You should go for it, Dee!)
