Good times, great friends! And how I do heart Teavana and Urban Outfitters, both of which we do not have in Healdsburg. I also went to the BEACH today and it was glorious. I brought a 6 inch veggie sub from subway with me and ate it while staring out at the waves (along with a grapefruit from christie’s kitchen). How crazy to be looking at the Pacific one day and the Atlantic the next. The Pacific is crazy beautiful but the Atlantic will always have my heart…
Later in the afternoon, I ate half an apple (it was mushy) and drank this shake from christie’s fridge. Wasn’t half bad but the ingredient list sure was long!
And then Christie and I met our friend, Jessie, for dinner at Basil, my FAVORITE Thai restaurant on the face of the earth. I haven’t seen Jessie for 8 YEARS!!!!!!! There was a moment of silence tonight at dinner when we realized our high school reunion was in 2 years???! How does that happen?? Romy and Michelle’s high school reunion anyone??!
We shared the basil spring rolls:
And I had what I always have—-Basil Tofu. I’ve never ordered anything else. This dish is perfect
Delicious. I ate every drop and washed it down with a glass of merlot + Riesling.
Time to hop in bed and read. See you tomorrow!

sounds like the picture perfect day!
The thai food looks fabulous. My boyfriend and I were just chatting about how we wish there was a great Thai restaurant near us. Too bad I don’t live near you!
I love Thai.
I can’t ever believe how long I’ve been out of highschool. Feels like it was yesterday!
What a great time! I love Charleston so much, I look forward to getting some great restaurant tips for our next visit!
spring rolls + peanut sauce = myyyy favorite thing ever.
I’ve had a hankering for Thai! Those spring rolls look delish!!
Basil tofu sounds like an amazing dish, and looks fantastic, too.
Your pictures are great-i’m craving Thai now!
Everything sounds so amazing from the tea to dinner! I love spending time with good friends and good food ENJOY!
I agree- the Atlantic has my heart, too! I got to see it today at St. Augustine:)
I am from Charleston & happen to love the Basil tofu as well! I moved to Atlanta this fall so I still go back every so often but you are still making me homesick. ah & also apparently my 10 yr high school reunion is in 2 years as well…that does not seem possible!
Ohh that tofu looks amazing. I had some disappointing Thai last night, sad!
That dish looks great! Glad to hear that you are having fun!
Love all your favorite things too, especially Urban Outfitters!
The Thai food looks awesome – I’ve already been craving it for days!
Mmm that tofu sounds amazing!!!! I haven’t had Thai in forever, I need to fix that!!!
Reunion in 2 years?! Wow. It’s scary to think about. It seems like time goes by super fast yet super slow at the same time.
Yum, basil tofu is my favorite! It sounds like you had a fantastic day. I graduated in 2002 – scary how the time flies!!
Sounds like you’re keeping busy with the Charleston and friend fun! Basil and Tofu sounds like a delicious combination.
The Thai food looks amazing.
My High School reunion is next year, it’s goes so fast!
I love catching up with old friends. Eight years is a long time, but sometimes those get-togethers are the best because nothing has changed–but everything has changed.
Sounds like a fun evening – the tofu and spring rolls look perfect too!
Thai is so yummy! What a great looking meal!
I love teavana! Have funnn!
Aw, I love that you KNOW yourself. You know what’s true to your heart. : ) Soak up your South while you can =]
Sounds like you’re having a great time.
Oy, I wish we had urban outfitters here.
Oooh that tofu dish does look good! Lots of sauce
I can’t wait for my high school reunion- I hated everyone there, so I want to show up looking fabulous and healthy and kick their butts
Ohhhh, Basil might be my favorite Thai restaurant of all time. And that Urban Outfitter’s sure wasn’t there when I was at CofC!!! Probably a good thing
Yum, I haven’t had basil tofu in ages. Yum!
hi jenna! it is SO crazy to see you taking pictures of where i go to school! I love it!! Basil is delicious
and i love that you went with Subway for lunch (i love how you can smell their bread half way down king street!) I meant to ask— what yoga studio did you go to while living in charleston?
LOVE Romy & Michele’s High School Reunion – you can watch it instantly on your computer if you have Netflix…not that I’ve done that, ever..
Happy Tuesday Jenna! Have fun in Charleston – it looks gorgeous!
What a wonderful day! Teavana is amazing. I just love the samples. And it is so weird to realize that your reunion is soon. Mine is around the same time and I just won’t be able to comprehend that it’s been almost ten years. Wow!
I’ve been to Basil before when I interned at the Spoleto Festival a few years back and got the basil chicken… yum! It’s so neat to see places I’ve been on your blog. Welcome back!
now you’ve got me craving basil anything now! I’m so happy you are getting such great shopping and bonding time! BTW I die for Urban Outfitters!! Ahhh!
Ah – the best of both worlds (or oceans)…great pictures. You and your friends are photogenic – hope you get some pics of yourself in the book
I love teavana! Those are great favorite things =D

I’m applying to MUSC as my top choice for medical school, so I’m really happy to hear that Charleston is such a wonderful place to live!!!
Heck, just give me any ocean and I’m happy. I love the ocean, and yet I’ve never lived close to it. My year in MD was probably the closest I ever lived to an ocean.
I haven’t tried Teavana teas yet . . . everytime I stop at the store they always seem really busy chatting to each other, not so much into serving people.
Some of the flavors sound awesome, but I’m picky about my tea.
I love Teavana, it’s so good.
love the Urban Outfitters picture!! glad u had a great day at the beach
Mmm Basil Tofu- your meals always looks so delicious, it makes me very jealous at times
Wish we had Teavana in Canada but, sadly, we are lacking them!
I agree – there is something amazing about both coasts but no matter where I end up in life…the Atlantic will have my heart (even if it’s fuh-fuh-freeeeeeezing …in NH).
Ha! My high school reunion was 2 years ago! I feel old. I didn’t go, but we’re going to my husband’s this October.
Hmm I work next door to an urban outfitters…I’d be pretty sad if it disappeared! Sounds like you’re having a whale of a time with your friends! Basil tofu is something I’ve never ordered but it looks frickin delicious!
yum those basil spring rolls look amazing!
I love Urban Outfitters!
You seem so happy here, Jenna
So awesome you get to see old high school friends. My 10 yr HS reuinion is in 2013, so I feel the same way! Yipes!!
Jenna – I was wondering when you go on vacation like this do you continue to work out or alter your normal eating habits to make up for the fact that you don’t work out? I always have trouble when I go on little vacations – especially when I go home because there is so much good food around and I just want to fully relax all day every day!
Urban Outfitters is one of my top stores, too. e do have one here, but it’s incredibly inconvenient to park around it, so I always hit it up when I’m in other cities.
That food looks terrific! Oh, and I LOVE Romy and Michelle. haha…my reunion is only 1 year away. EEK!
Eating a veggie sub while staring at the waves?
Dreamy…
Have a wonderful week, Jenna!
Brazilian XOXO´s,
Gabriela
The Atlantic has my heart too
It’s been *cough*twenty*cough* years since I left high school this summer…..
I’m a Pacific girl all the way, but from the Australian side. Takes my breath away every time.
oh my god your vacation look SOO fun!! I love the south – its so pretty. I love my hometown on the westcoast (woot portland!) but the south is just so gorgeous and interesting. I am going to Atlanta to visit the bfs family in August – any suggestions on what to do, where to roadtrip to? I would love to hear your favorite places in that whole region of the country (sc, fl, & ga!)
I love basil tofu, I had it for dinner last night as well!
I feel you on the topic of high school reunions. Mine is next year, and I am freaking out. Haha.
How far is Heraldsburg from SF? I love the Urban Outfitters in SF =)
Teavana rocks my world!
Rain drops on roses and whiskers on kittens…
I haven’t seen some of my high school friends in far too long. We keep in touch on facebook but it isn’t the same. Looks like you had a blast.
Urban Outfitters…LOVE IT!
I really want Thai food now! Oh and I LOOOVE UO too!
looks like we have a lot in common! Urban is by far one of my favorite stores, I love subway, I own a year supply of tea from teavana (but it usually only lasts 1/2 year b/c I drink it so often
) and spring rolls are so goood!

My high school reunion is this year! Ha ha
Charleston is so great! I went there for the first time last summer and would move there in a heartbeat! I also went to Basil and had the same dish, soooooo good!
Enjoy it!
I Love Love Love Basil! I’ve never eaten at their Charleston location, but they have a second location in Charlotte that is just around the corner from where I live. They have a photo of their Charleston location hanging on the wall. It is my favorite Thai place!
I love Basil!! I haven’t been there in forever.I definitely need to go soon.Have you been to Chai’s?
I’m such a creature of habit when it comes to Thai food as well… I either always get pad thai or green curry tofu! (Then finish off the meal with some green tea ice cream! Not really Thai, per se, but they always have it at my local joint!)
Oh my goodness!!! Urban outfitter is one of the sweetest store around. Spring rolls & Subway are my go-to lunch on campus (and anywhere else for that matter). And EAS protein drinks + an apple is the perfect combo for a snack!
love it!
Basil is AMAZING, but Stephen and I actually like Jasmine’s better.
Oh my gosh! It’s so nice to read your blog when you’re visiting charleston!!!!! You know I work right across the street from basil? Yeah! At Charleston Ballet Theatre! Love reading your blog!
Charleston is one of my favorite cities everr and I’m so glad it’s only an hour and a half away from me! That Teavana has very sadly shut down this past year… I’m going to miss their tea “frappuccino” drinks
