Lunch

A Good Alternative

Hi guys!

Hope everyone’s afternoon is treating them well. Today for lunch I had this yummy turkey chili:

I like this chili a lot. I mean, I prefer to make my own but when life gets in the way there are some good alternatives! I had a cup of this with cheddar cheese, some kashis and grapes. It made for a tasty and filling lunch!

Tonight the “parents” are taking me out to eat! We are going to Pomodoro’s for pizza. I haven’t been there since I was about 11 but Betty says they make the best individualized pizzas in town. I love places that do mini pizzas for one! We are going at 6:30 so I will blog when we get back—have a great afternoon!

Ha! I made chili for supper last night! The first time I have cooked in a month, I think. We had elk meat in the freezer from the boys’ hunt last year, so that’s what I used. It was so flippin good! Of course we ate ours with cheddar cheese too, but I didn’t use a spoon, I used Fritos Scoops! Total indulgence! But that hasn’t been as big of a concern as it used to be. It was a comfort-food meets ballgame night-food kind of dinner! Yum-O!

Hi Jenna! I was just curious about if you taste all of these delicious concoctions everyday at work and if you alter your meals to eat less because of this…I’ve always heard that chefs really have to taste everything. Also, this wonderful Betty character your living with seems to really live a “french lifestyle” with things like quiche and full-fat cheese polenta and pumpkin creme brulee on an everyday occasion. Do you purposely opt out of dinners with them in order to maintain your healthy lifestyle and calorie intake….i ask this just because you used to be all about the french way of life and I really admire your healthy lifestyle and would just like to know how you handle these situations… sorry such a long post!

This is so random, but have you seen this advertised? I got the link in an email and thought of you and the peanut butter you used to get a whole foods. It looks interesting, I wonder if it works well.

Jenna, I read your blog every day and I love it but the craziest thing just happened… I clicked on the link of that restaurant (to see if i want to check it out sometime ..I live in Port St Lucie not far from Vero) and as soon as I saw the pics I got very sick and had to vomit..dont worry I am pregnant but I am almost 7 months and I havent dealt with morning sickness for some time so there was something about those pics that the little girl in my belly didnt like. Please enjoy your dinner I just thought it was pretty funny and you and your readers may get a kick out of it.

    Krista,

I taste everything I make at work but no, I don’t “alter that into my daily intake”. I don’t track my daily intake and don’t count calories, food groups or anything like that. I don’t pig out at work but I always have a taste of everything…just like I did at school. The only reason I opted out of Betty’s dinners last week was because it was her, her husband and another older couple. They were eating at 8:30 and I just felt a little awkward, you know? I have to let them have a life of their own as well! I eat anything I want in moderation and really dont worry about it at all. Life’s way too short and theres more important things out there to worry about!! As long as I keep on exercising and eating what makes me feel good (just happens to be mostly healthy food!). And also, betty and her husband don’t eat fatty foods on an everyday occasion…just wanted to clear that up! You all just see a veryyyy small glimpse of THEIR lives but her husband is a doctor and I would never want anyone judging their food (not that you are)! Yes, they enjoy good food, but both of them are slim and in shape and eat their fair share of salads as well. 🙂
