Lunch

A Heavy Load

I feel productive because, finally, after being nagged about it for a year and a half, I cleaned out my closet! I brought about 3 HUGE garbage bags full of clothes to The Spring, a battered women refuge that takes donations here in Tampa, and feel like a load has been lifted off my shoulders! Literally!

I snacked on a pear this morning while cleaning and, later for lunch, I made some soup. I roasted 1 sweet potato and 2 small purple potatoes (FINALLY found these at W.F!) and then pureed them in the blender with about 1 cup fat free soymilk, 1 tsp of curry powder, 1/4 tsp of cayenne and some sea salt. I didn’t eat the whole soup that I made, only about a cup of it—I had a little leftover. With my soup I had a slice of Rudi’s honey sweet whole wheat bread with some Cedar’s hummus and also had some grapes. How cute is that little bowl I found deep inside my parent’s kitchen cabinets?! It hold the perfect amount for a cup of soup.

I’m going to Bikram from 5:30-7:15 so I will see you all for a later dinner!

Attention Brownie Lovers! Okay, so if you like chocolate keep reading… The night before last I made the No Pudge Brownies. They are all natural and fat free you just add yogurt. Anywho, I made them in a muffin tin so I could have individual brownies. OMG they are soooo good. I had three, yes three right out of the oven. I didn’t let them cook for the full time because they were smaller plus I wanted them to be doughy. They are perfect. They tasted like mini gooey cakes. Last night I had them at room temperature and had three again. These things are addicting!!! My husband had a couple and never knew they were “healthy” brownies. VICTORY! You can get the mix at Whole Foods but I have also seen them at Kroger, Wal-Mart, Randalls, etc. (i’m in TX). Sadly, there are only 4 left. 🙁

I’ve had those No Pudge brownies – they are freaking amazing. Unfortunately I do not have the maturity and/or willpower to keep them in the house. Glad you liked them, Kelly L!

    For the No Pudge…

I want to try these but have seen they have different flavors. Is the plain the best? Because I have to say “cappucino” sounds pretty good too. Thoughts?

NJ- I have only had the original. I’m not a coffee drinker so I have never been one to try coffee flavored things. They are DELICOUS.

I loved in defense of food. I would definitely recommend it – he makes a lot of sense and while a lot of the foods he says to avoid are ones I already did, his perspective is still interesting to read.

Brit- Personally, I didn’t care for In Defense of Food. I don’t know what it was but I just didn’t like it. He is too all or nothing for me. I mean seriously, If I only ate things that my great grandmother would recognize as food I’d be really frustrated. He makes some good points but I just thought is was eh….

I started I’n Defense of Food’, but put it down and haven’t gone back. I mean to at some point, but it certainly wasn’t riveting.

That soup looks delicious- and yes, very cute bowl!

Cedar’s hummus is the best. I’ve been eying their tabbouleh lately, too.

Kelly L- I’ve prepared individual servings of the No Pudge brownies before. You can cook them in little ramekins in the microwave with a TBS or so of yogurt. I think the individual recipe is on the box.

Heather- Are you trying to tell me that by having individual servings I won’t be tempted to eat 3 brownies at once? Hee hee! Totally kidding. Yes, I did see that on the side of the box but I only keep the small containers of yogurt on hand so it would be kind of a waste. Plus, I don’t really have a problem with stopping once I’m satisfied. I know that sounds wierd after mentioning I eat three at a time but it’s true. After the third I’m like “okay, that was perfect and I’m done now”. AND they aren’t huge. 🙂

Do I sound like I’m trying tell myself it’s okay? LOL!

Hi Jenna! Not sure if you remember, but I used to comment on your blog when you first started and we discussed Paris a bit. You gave me some pointers….well, I wanted to thank you! My husband and I just got back yesterday, it was for our 2 year anniversary and it was wonderful! We went to Cercles and I did have a croque madame which was SOOOO good! I also had the Berhillon ice cream! Thank you so much, it was a big help getting tips from you and they paid off! I wish I could move there! Looks like the blog is still going strong, I am so happy for you! Thanks again!!

I love the purple hints in the soup, it’s lovely!

Enjoy yoga and your ‘late’ dinner (I always eat at like.. 8:30, so it sounds early to me!)

We are alike in so many ways! I always feel like a weight gets lifted from my shoulders when I finally get around to organizing something and I am also the biggest homebody you will meet. Don’t get me wrong – I love hanging out with my friends and stuff but sometimes I would just rather be home reading, watching TV, or eating dinner with the family.

    Enjoy Yoga!
