Behind The Butter

a holiday giveaway from ELR

I have a surprise for you!

Today I am giving away one copy of my absolute favorite cookbook of all time.

I seriously live out of this cookbook. I use it practically every single day and my copy is stained, burned and dog chewed. I’m buying a brand new copy (unless you want my slobbery one and I’ll keep the new one? just kidding..sort of) for one of you because, well, I love you!

I seriously appreciate every one of you more than you know and your daily support of ELR means the world to me. I could be having the worst day ever, but then I come online and read your comments and it’s like my whole day turns around right then and there. Thank you. So much.

To enter this giveaway, just leave a comment on this post. I’ll pick a random winner tonight at 10pm PST.

I would love this cookbook! My husband would love it even more as it might inspire me to enter the kitchen more than once a year when I embark on my annual Christmas bake-a-palooza.

He is a doll and does 90% of the cooking in our house for various reasons but mostly because that is how he “woo’ed” me when we were dating and now he’s stuck!

I’ve recently stumbled upon your blog and have fallen in love with your writing and recipes. I have two young boys and I’ve come to realize the importance of healthy, homemade, whole foods. I’ve been trying to expand our dinner menus to incorporate more homemade, less process stuff and have been attempting to expand my cookbook collection. I was SO EXCITED to see this book as your give away! I have yet to find a book that has become my cooking go-to as this one is for you.
By the way, I’ve been trying out quite a few of your recent goodies with my boys and they are having so much fun creating new, exciting treats. Especially the ones with the sprinkles! Thanks for helping my family and I bond over baking and good food!

Utter appreciation right back at ya! Seriously though, before I started reading your blog, I never even had the slightest want to bake a cookie, not even the slice and bake kind. I know, it was sad.
But, just like you’ve described how you love the feeling of kneading dough, I’ve started to feel the same way towards my new found love of baking. I’ve danced, cried, laughed and smiled during my little baking adventures, I definitely have you to partially thank for that. Oh and now when I go to bookstores, I only look at cookbooks, it’s a sickness I think. But, I like it.

I have been wanting this cookbook forever! I stop by my second hand bookstore down the street at least once every 2 weeks to see if there is a copy….

I made the mint brownies for a party on Saturday night and people could not get enough of them!!! I almost wanted to keep the recipe a secret so that no one would know how incredibly easy it was just to add the peppermint patties!

Thanks for always coming up with such great recipes and stories 🙂

However, I think at this point in my life, admitting I have cook book obsession is more age appropriate. Jenna,

You have no idea how much I have come to appreciate YOUR daily good cheer, your extraordinary talents and your sweet humor. I’ve been reading your blog regularly since early in your culinary school days, and yet this was the year that you’ve really come into your own – both as an innovative chef and as a unique voice in the food writing arena – and as a relateable Internet friend. This year, you’ve done such a terrific job of listening and really connecting with each of us on a personal level. As a result, the dialogue on ELR has become consistently upbeat, friendly, free of harsh comments; visiting your site everyday is pure joy for me. I so admire your growth and so appreciate the gifts you share every day, Jenna.

Wishing you and yours the happiest of holidays and all the best in the coming year!

Jenna, I LOVE your blog! I look forward to reading it over breakfast every day. When I opened the post on your exercise wear obsession, I felt we were soulmates–it’s a feat for me to not wear Lululemon on any given day.

As I’m approaching college graduation, your story is inspiring to really just do what you love. Moving to Santa Clara (Yeah, Bay Area!) on a whim was so encouraging that no matter where I go, opportunities will arise and everything will work out.

    I wish 😉

But just know that I love how you are being true to YOURSELF. You are destined for great things in your own right.

Jenna, a few months ago, I stumbled upon your blog, and my desire (and attempts) to cook from home have increased dramatically ever since. Every day, I go into my google reader and I hope for an update from your blog. Not only are your recipes fantastic, but you are witty and funny and just really easy to read (easy, in the sense that, I never skim your blog posts [I always skim blog posts]). Keep cooking and writing– the sanity of your readers depend upon it!

The other day I used the brownie recipe you recently posted to make a dessert for my parents to bring to the neighborhood Christmas party. However, we didn’t have any peppermint patties, but we did have a TON of mini candy bars still leftover from Halloween. So, I placed the candy bars on top of the first layer of batter. I also had to leave off the marshmallows b/c we didn’t have any. Let me tell you, the brownies were delish!!! My mom has a new favorite dessert!

I have been reading for over 2 years and love how you have evolved overtime in life and on your blog. Your recipes are amazing and you have a beautiful way of writing and can turn a recipe about soup or chocolate cake balls into an amazing story.

Keep on doing what you do, you are awesome :)!!
