Dessert/ Lunch

A Mighty Peace Offering

Hello!

How’s your Sunday going?! Mine has been filled with friends and I couldn’t be happier. Church was great this morning…an incredibly powerful message this morning—the podcast should be around Wednesday from that and when it is I will link it here so y’all can have a listen as well! I just love Brian, our pastor, because he is so relatable and down to earth.

I snacked on this bar from my purse midway through the morning—

IMG_3437

I haven’t had one of these in forever but had one stashed at the way bottom of my purse for “emergency situations” such as when church goes from 10 am- 1pm. hahaha 😉

Lunch was easy. My mom is out of town right now but before she left she made some awesome pulled chicken in the slow cooker for my dad and I to eat while she was away. I honestly don’t even know what this was or where the recipe came from but when she comes home I’ll make a point to ask..it was good! I filled up an Ezekiel wrap with it + hot sauce!

IMG_3438

An apple for dessert!

IMG_3439

And then I spent the afternoon outside at the park with some great women from Created. It poured at first but then the sun came out a little and we got a nice walk in!

April’s dog JUMPED OFF THE DOCK!!!!!!! She was about to jump in after him but I was able to shimmy down and grab him out of the water. Poor wet Cosmo!!! I do have to admit though, we all laughed our butts off. 😉

IMG_3442

I ate this yummy bar—

IMG_3445

And then later, grabbed some pizza with a friend for dinner!

Greek salad to start—

IMG_3446

Followed by two slices of veggie pizza perfection!! I haven’t had pizza in FOREVER and boy, was it ever delicious tonight!

IMG_3447

So good.

So our neighbor is a HUGE USC fan (I know, gross right?! hehe). He had a big party at his house for the game tonight and all those boys were hootin and hollerin all night long about the big win since they know we are OSU fans over here. So today, the doorbell rings and our neighbor’s girlfriend stands there with a big plate of homemade buckeyes for us!!!!!!!

IMG_3448

How’s that for good sportsmanship….or a peace treaty!!!! Y’all, I wish I could tell you how to make these but sadly I have no idea. They are, however, the most amazing thing EVER….chocolate peanut butter to the EXTREME. I had a very large “bite” out of one when I got home from pizza.

What are you looking forward to this week? I can’t wait to go to Deeper Still on Friday with Sarah and Jessica!!! 🙂

Jenna, if you google “buckeyes,” you’ll find lots of recipes. I’ve made them a couple of times before (one recipe I used called for wax to help them stick together better). I LOVE buckeyes (and the real Buckeyes). What a nice neighbor!

This post made me miss home in a big way, Jenna! Between the buckeyes that my Uncle always makes when he comes to visit and the pulled chicken (which looks TOO yummy), I’m thinking, “Gosh it would be nice to be home with this food!”

  • Hallie (Healthy Twists)
    September 13, 2009 at 9:49 pm

I make pulled chicken in the crock pot with two ingredients: chicken and BBQ sauce! Oh and 1 chopped onion. It’s so easy and pretty tasty. But MMM what caught my eye was those buckeyes! My boyfriend’s family makes them every Christmas but they call them “peanut butter balls” and what makes them different is that they have rice crispies in the PB part…so it’s a TAD lighter (tasting) but still incredible! It’s a Christmas tradition this Jewish girl can definitely handle, hehe 😀

Jenna, I hope you have such a great time at Deeper Still. I saw Beth Moore speak a few weeks ago at a Living Proof Live event (it was the simulcast so she was teaching in Wisconsin and we were watching from a local church). It was just amazing. I’ve never been a fan of those oatmeal bars. We sell them where I work, but they always seem so high in calories for a little bar. I like some bang for my buck! The buckeyes looks delish. Pb&chocolate might be one of the greatest combos EVER.

Haha you are so cute. Is that little piece in the background the remains of your “large bite?”

I think Kraft has a really easy good buckeye recipe if you ever were interested in seeing how these were made. Simple and little ingridents.

Hope you had a good night Jenna!

Buckeyes are so delicious and easy to make but so dangerous – luckily they come in bite-sized form, but I have been known to have one too many “bites”. Love the idea of pulled chicken. I am always looking for new slow-cooker recipes, so I will look forward to your mom’s recipe!

  • suzie
    September 14, 2009 at 12:48 pm

    Buckeyes

2 cups peanut butter I think it equate to 1 jar
    1 lb powered sugar
    1 stick of butter
I also like to but 3 cups rice crispy in mine.

Then shape into ball and freeze for an hour. I also go the lazy way and make them like bar cookies. It take forever to form and dip all of these. I have a recipe for the cholate but I just use what ever is around. I like to use my easter bunny to make make the chocalte.
