Behind The Butter

A Real Treat!

I love frozen yogurt. I love to make my own in our ice cream maker but I really love this new place in town that serves “real” frozen yogurt….this is non-fat plain yogurt that has been frozen and they serve it with a variety of fruit toppings. A small (4 ounce) serving is 100 calories, then you load it up with fruit, dark chocolate chips or raw nuts. Amazing! However, this, like plain regular yogurt, is an acquired taste. Ryan hates it and so does my dad. You have to first wean yourself off of that sugary fake stuff you have been eating since you were two years old before you can really enjoy this. The texture is creamy and rich and it tastes just like Fage greek yogurt—only frozen. I got a cup today and loaded mine up with pom. seeds, sliced almonds and fresh blueberries. Not a bad snack if I do say so myself!

Nothing artificial is used and though it might not be as sweet as the frozen yogurt and ice cream you are used to, it sure is better for you! The cup I had today was probably about 150 calories after the toppings I chose. Delish!

Danielle..if you live in NYC, try pinkberry or Flurt! They are both frozen greek yogurt “joints”, the flavour is fantastic…really just like frozen fage. The pinkberry joints are all the rage with the celebs, I’m sure you’ve read about them in the People magazine…hahah or maybe that’s just me 🙂 Checkout pinkberry.com for locations…happy searching mmmm it’s delicious, and now I wish I had some for a little snack today, oh well..for another day! Happy weekend!

Omg thanks 🙂 I live 10 minutes outside of NYC so I’m definitely going to be trying both places soon! I go to Syracuse University though, in central NY, so I’m going to be on the look-out for something similar up there, haha.

OK, you guys are making me so jealous. We don’t even have a TCBY here in Charlotte, much less anything GOOD in the ice cream department, aside from Coldstones and Ben and Jerry’s! I’m SO JEALOUS!! We don’t even have WHOLE FOODS yet!! I guess I’ll go have some Edy’s Slow Churned Egg Nog 🙁

I had that slow churned egg nog for the first time last night and it was amazing! Have you tried the peppermint? I saw they had that as well but am never sure if I want to buy so much ice cream at once! What if I waste it in the end, hehe.
