A Reason To Celebrate

The wedding was great last night!

The setting was just gorgeous. They got married in a small church downtown and then the reception was at a yacht club (they rented out the whole club)—outside by the water. There were fireworks, good food, open bar, dancing….all the lovely things you expect from a springtime wedding! I started the night by having a cosmo when we arrived at the reception. Cosmos are my drink of choice when I need to look classy and wine isn’t appropriate (snazzy cocktail parties). While I was sipping on my cosmo though I saw that the bartender was making mojitos!!! So, after the cosmo I had one of those and it was great. That pretty much concludes my drinking night because after that I stuck to club soda. I can really only have two sweet drinks, not because it makes me get drunk, but because it will give me a headache! I feel wonderful this morning though and I attribute that to stopping while I was ahead.

Yelling at Ryan for blowing cigar smoke in my face!

Love those candid shots! The girls got chocolates as “party favors” and the guys got cigars…haha

I skipped out on the meat filled apps that were floating around the pool area and instead got a plate of fruit (pineapple and strawberries–not photoed) to have with my drink. Dinner was a buffet, which I was very pleased about because I could bypass the stuffed chicken entree and instead fill my plate with rice, steamed vegetables, bread and salad with raspberry vinegrette. It was actually very good. I think we ended up eating around 8:30 and around 10:30 I was hungry again while on the dance floor so I ate the emergency larabar in my purse. Glad I had that! We ended up getting home around midnight, opting for sleep instead of the afterparty at the bride and groom’s house down the street. Today we have another busy day ahead of us because we are headed over to St.Pete to go out on the boat for the morning, have a bbq with friends and then go to the Rays/Red Sox game (sitting in a box with our friends! fun!). I’m thinking about picking up some veggie burgers to bring to the bbq.

For breakfast I had another big bowl of steel cut oats with almond butter and banana. Ready to go be in the sun now!

ps- the bride and groom are leaving tomorrow for their honeymoon in French Polynesia!!! How jealous are we??!!

You look gorgeous (as always!) Really though, you have such a glow about you and look so happy and healthy šŸ™‚

The wedding sounded wonderful. I’m glad you had such a great time. And the pictures are great – thanks so much for sharing them with us.

Sounds like it was easy to find healthy vegan options, which can often be a challenge at weddings (the last wedding I went to the only option was steak – needless to stay I went hungry until I got home after midnight!)

Hope you have a great time today on the boat (so jealous!) and at the game!

that looks so fun–it makes me excited about summer weddings and going to the beach. your hair has grown out really nicely, jenna. it’s really cute. are you a 100% natural blonde? i love the color–if you do use “color enhancers” (aka highlighting/dyeing) do you DIY? im thinking about going a shade or two lighter.

okay–enough beauty talk–time to get back to my paper.

    have a great day, all.

Jenna- This is really important… I posted this on the last entry too, but is there any way you can delete a comment I made earlier? When you google my name it comes up and says some things iā€™dā€™ rather not anyone just be able to find- like about my weight and history w/food? Please let me know!

    Emily,

I’m not a vegan. I still enjoy honey and seafood, even though there hasn’t been much seafood lately on the blog its really because I haven’t had a chance to have really good, fresh seafood. I don’t think I would order seafood out that much, but if Ryan catches something good I would def. eat it. I know its sort of hypocritical of me to say I won’t eat any other animal products other than seafood, but to each their own, and I honestly feel differently about certain fish (that is fresh, not frozen and not farm raised) than I do about other things. I think it really comes down to eating what your body feels is right and sometimes you have to experiment a little bit before you discover “what’s right.” I’m still in the experimenting stage!

    Alison,

I will do a search later if you tell me exactly what post it is under because then i can find it and delete it! If you would rather email me this info I totally understand. jenna@eatliverun.com

    Raybelle,

I am a natural blond but I get highlights ever 4 months or so at a salon…and spend wayyyy too much money!

to all: the dress is from Saks and was on a super clearance sale last year at this time! It’s Ryan’s favorite dress on me šŸ™‚
