Lunch

A Small Lunch and a Whole Lotta Snacks!

Hey everyone!

We were lucky enough to have an absolute gorgeous day here in Orlando (which is really quite rare. It rains every day here!), so we spent it by this huge pool at the resort where Peggy and Chris are staying. Chris, unfortunately, had to be in a conference all day long (that’s why they are here—he’s a doctor and had a conference at the Gaylord Palms hotel), but Peggy, Ryan and I enjoyed ourselves in the sunshine!

For lunch, we went to an islandy restaurant in the hotel. I ordered Fish and Shrimp tacos, which are my faaaaaavorite! However, I was more than a little disappointed when my plate came and on it I got three tiny shrimp and about a 2 ounce portion of fish. Ummm…that’s hardly enough food for this girl! I ate all the shrimp and fish and two of the tortillas with the black bean salsa and afterwards was still starving. I hate that!!! It was expensive too so that made me all the more mad that I got such a tiny tiny portion. I didn’t eat the slaw on my plate or the sour cream because I dislike both.

Only about two hours later I couldn’t take it anymore and reached for my balance bar for a poolside snack. This chocolate one was amazing as well. I just can’t pick my favorite flavor—they are all so good!!

We stayed around the pool until around 3:30 (I must have drank like 20 glasses of water, it was SO hot!) and then Ryan and I came back to the apartment to rest a little before getting ready for tonight. I made another snack around 5:00 (see, I told you I eat every three hours!)—-a plain yogurt with a small spoonful of raspberry jam, to keep me going until dinner:

And fuel I will need because the only reservations I could get tonight are not until 9:30!!!!! I picked this restaurant I’ve been dying to try, The Ravenous Pig, in Winter Park. It’s apparently half pub and half restaurant and the hostess I spoke to on the phone said that the pub offers the full menu as well and is first come first serve so we are going to head over around 8:00 and hope for the best because I know I can’t wait until 9:30 for dinner! The menu looks totally awesome. What should I get??!!

What an interesting array of selections! I’d probably go with the lobster tacos, and a side of the truffle mac and cheese (YUM.)

I love Gaylord Palms! So relaxing! If you can ever stay overnight, do it! Every square inch of that hotel is gorgeous. And “ICE” in the winter is so cool! (No pun intended…)
Ooooh Winter Park–love it… The menu for the Ravenous Pig looks interesting…the Moules Frites sound good, and, if I weren’t vegan, the Organic Irish Salmon sounds light & refreshing.
    Have fun!

    Hi Jenna,

They definitely could have given you some more veggies to bulk up the tiny tacos!

I noticed you said a half a clif bar is your fav preworkout snack, amazon recently began selling variety packs of clif minis. I wish lara would sell minis to the public.

Also, THANK YOU SO MUCH for posting your workout details. I have tried almost all of them…and hope to see results soon 🙂

GO WITH THE HOMEMADE SOFT PRETZEL APP!!! Sounds SO good to me, idk why lol. And then I’d go for either the Salmon or the Roasted Flounder! Probably the Flounder bc that Tangerine Oil sounds fabbbulous, as does the artichoke puree 🙂 yum yum yum!

The Gatherer Salad also sounds amazing though! Have funnn 🙂

Have fun at Ravenous Pig… I have been a few times and the thin fries are amazing, they are cooked in truffle oil. It is good stuff, a little overpriced, IMO, but hey, what isn’t anymore?

I have had dessert there and wasn’t impressed with them so you could skip that part… the stuff you make in class looks 100 times better than anything I have had there.

Glad the day held out for your visiting pals.

mmm, another vote for the roasted flounder from me 🙂 the tangerine accent sounds intriguing!

also i LOVE the gastropub concept. we have a local one as well (belgian foods with a ridiculously large beer selection) and they also have soft pretzels served with a spicy mustard and cheese. i hope you are able to get seated at a reasonable time!

I’m not sure if any of you have seen this, but it is an article about Whole Foods and their prices admist the bad economy. Sounds interesting…
