Guess where we’re going tomorrow!
Hint: it’s not Big Sur….but it’s close. And I’ll be bringing a dozen of these for the drive!
ps: my apartment still smells like bacon.
pps: I just wrote a chapter in my book about how I used to get made fun of in sixth grade for not having to wear a bra yet. Here’s to being awkward and undeveloped!
ppps: have you noticed the new print feature on my recipes? Wahoo!
Okay, I’ll stop now. I have a cake in the oven!

Ahh I’m so excited to hear about your weekend getaway! Have an awesome time!
Ahh – have such a fun getaway! I need one right about now!
Oh, and gotta love the awkward/embarrassing life moments…. at least we can look back and have a laugh, right?
I could really use a weekend getaway myself!
Cake in the oven is one of the best smells! Mmmm!
Oooh I’m excited for you, and excited to hear about it!! And THANK YOU so much for putting the print button on your recipes!
Have a good weekend!
AW – being awkward is *such* an important part of growing up. I like print features!
Print feature = awesome.
I’m super excited for the print feature! I have all these copied and pasted into Word recipes called things like “Jenna’s Engagement Scampi” and “Jenna’s Mom’s Baked Beans.”
hahahaha that made me smile!
That is TOTALLY what I’ve been doing too! Especially labeling recipes preceded by “Jenna’s Mom’s…” LOL.
I must confess, I’ve been copying and emailing your recipes to myself with your name tagged on to the end of the recipe name, so that when I have the time to go back and make something, I will know it is fabulous because it was Jenna-made and Jenna-approved!
Haha me too, my roomates know you because they say, “oh is this one of Jenna’s recipes?” Sounds creepy, but it’s true.
ps. I could write an anthology about my middle school awkwardness.
So glad there’s another reader using this old-school nerdy method!
Thanks Jenna, and have a blast on your trip! Safe travels!
Cooooookies! Those look mighty tasty…
I can’t wait to hear more about your weekend getaway! And I am also psyched for the recipe printing button
I wish I had a cake in then oven. Have fun on your trip! Can’t wait to read about it later.
How exciting! Beautiful pictures.
beautiful! p.s my bf would die if i made that spaghetti w/ bacon and egg- sounds delicious.
hahaha, i STILL don’t need to wear a bra
Me too! Yay!
Have fun! (Oh, and I technically didn’t need a bra until college. I just wore one because, well, that’s what girls do.)
I still don’t need one….awkward…! Eeeps.
On another note – are those molasses cookies soft and chewy?!
i kind of hope you’re going to malibu, even though that’s not close to big sur. it’s amazing!
Soo excited for the new recipe print feature!! I love the Black Eyed Pea Stew receipe. So delicious!
What about people who *stopped* development in sixth grade? I was always ahead of the other girls and suddenly, boom, sixth grade hit and I stopped growing.
Have fun this weekend!
The more I hear about this book, the more I look forward to it!! Have fun on your trip!!!
Carmel?! Anywhere along the coast is going to be so fun. Can’t wait to see where you end up going!
My guess is Carmel or Malibu!
I love that you’re writing a book! To be honest, I didn’t wear a real bra until about age 17 (I had mosquito bites for boobs until college). While most of my friends were excited about wearing a bra, I was happy that I didn’t HAVE to deal with one.
Have a great weekend!
technically I didn’t need to wear a bra until 10th grade so if you got em in 7th consider yourself well endowed
If it makes you feel better, I was already on my way to C cup in 6th grade and got made fun of for that. Brutally so.
i’m on day 3 of a 21 day cleanse right now and you talking about a cake and bacon is making me rethink my decision…
6th and 7th grade were possibly some of the worst years of my life. Awkward much? YES!
And the print recipe feature..just this morning! I installed it on my (new) site, too! I just made the move to self-hosted WP. What was I waiting for?! But yes I can’t wait to use my new widget. It’s the small things, isn’t it
This is my first comment, but I love your blog!
One of my favorite things about cooking bacon is how it makes my apartment smell like bacon for the rest of the day… and part of the next day…
~ Kristina
How about being in 5th grade and HAVING to wear one
SOOOO excited about the print feature! I always had to copy and paste into word… not that it was difficult or anything, but this is just awesome!!!
True story: I could probably still almost go without a bra. Sad, I know.
I love the print recipe feature! I have been trying to figure out how to do that with my blog, but I am unsure whether you can do it for blogger. I have found a “print me” feature for the whole post, but I’d like it to just print the recipe. Is it possible?
oooh have fun indeed!
I would have loved to be underdeveloped in grade 6. I got made fun of for being over developed. We’re talking 34 C in grade 6. Gym was rough for me.
cheers to being underdeveloped! i didnt need to wear a bra until my sophomore year of high school! Come to think of it, I’m sort of still waiting!! Have a lovely getaway!
Haha! If I wasn’t chubby, I probably could have went much longer without a bra. I’m pretty sure I started wearing a bra, just to hide my nipples on a cold day. Oh the joys of adolescence.
Take me with you?! I’ll come equipped with wine + stretchy pants + slippers.
In sixth grade I remember it was the “thing” to do to snap each other’s bra strap in the back. I didn’t really partake. I was too busy reading “Little House” under my desk.
San Luis Obispo?
And if it’s not, I HIGHLY suggest it’s where you come soon.
So many great restaurants, hikes, beaches, and wineries. Plus, it’s the happiest city in America.
Haha that was definitely me in junior high.. or pretty much now haha, just a little bit improved.
I need to make that pasta! And get to Cali- this east coast snow/winter must end!
Very, very happy about the print feature. Thank you!!!
As others, I got made fun of for being overdeveloped! Well, not made fun of…. teased by the boys. I started wearing a bra in 4th grade.
San Jose? Monterey? Carmel? Santa Cruz?
Have an awesome trip!!
I love these short little posts you do! Have an awesome, awesome, awesome little getaway!
You’re bringing a cake on your road trip?! I’m impressed!
Interesting, in fifth grade I got endlessly teased for being the only girl wearing a bra.
Awkward then, definitely not now!
Ugh, 6th grade… WORST. YEAR. EVER. Let’s not think about that. Have fun this weekend… wherever you’re going
Oh, and I love the print feature!
Looks like your headed to the coast! Hope you have a great trip!
haha, I had to start wearing a bra at age nine……yeah, not like I’ve got anything big but I was my full height, weight and shape (that I am now) by the time I turned eleven. haha
Call me crazy, but as much as I love bacon and believe it is the answer to world peace, I hate the smell of it that lingers for days after it’s cooked. It always makes me feel like I should be a guest on Jerry Springer.
Hi Jenna! I’ve been following your blog for about 2 years now and am just starting to enter the wonderful world of commenting. I also just started my own blog – I wanted to thank you because your pursuit of your dreams has been inspirational to me as I’m now pursuing my own. Looking forward to more ELR adventures and yumazing recipes
omg, I got teased for not wearing a bra in 6th grade too! I was too embarrassed to ask my mom if I could wear one, but all my friends were wearing bras starting in 3rd grade! Bras, who needs em anyway.
Love the new print feature!! I usually copy/paste your recipes to Notepad, this is so much better
Enjoy your weekend getaway, you deserve it!
Have a good time.
Print feature = awesome. Thanks!
have fun! woohoo!
love that print option.
Is it Monterey or Carmel? I guess that could be considered Big Sur, but under a different name, haha. Worth a guess!
You should do more posts with your mom … they are so much fun !
safe travels, jenna! am violently jealous!
ohmygod i was made fun of in the sixth grade for HAVNG to wear a bra! funny switch
can’t wait to see where you’re headed!
Ahhhh….Carmel beach, aka dog beach. Love that place!
I forgot to even tell you! I printed out your recipe for Buffalo Chicken Dip (LOVE that you can print them) because I’m going to a coworker superbowl party next weekend and am bringing the dip with me! SO excited for this, I know everyone will love it. Thanks!
