Gah! It FINALLY happened…..the camera went DEAD!
Never fear though friends, this little blogger is prepared in any and every situation. I thought this might happen today, so on Sunday I taped a little vlog for you to enjoy! 😉
Just checked the status of my camera (I’m a dork, I know!) and it’s in Oakland right now so it should be getting here in the next few hours…we’ll be back up and running in no time! Even though there are no pictures, I’ll briefly describe the situation right now:
FREEZING in this little house, just ate a Fitnessista breakfast cookie and drinking hot black tea. I haven’t made a breakfast cookie since, err, last spring??! Yummy…Gina, you rock! 🙂 I think my “cookie” is a little bit bigger than most though….I use 3/4 cup oats, 1/2 banana, 1 big spoonful almond butter, a tiny tiny bit of milk and then cover it in the morning with greek yogurt. I know Gina (and most) use protein powder but I don’t have any and it turned out fine without it. Sorry no picture!
Going to do some yoga this morning and then meet a friend from church for coffee.
Be back, be back!!

October 27, 2009 at 7:39 amSO cute! I love little “nook” type apartments – I think they’re super cozy and have so much character. Those built in’s are great too!!
Nicole
October 27, 2009 at 7:46 amYour place is adorable! I am all too familiar with the empty living room and curling up in a blanket on the floor!
I know you’ll love the new camera! Can’t wait to see the photos you take with it:)

October 27, 2009 at 7:49 amI feel bad now after the pull out couch comment – when my parents come to stay, we have them sleep on an aerobed on the floor as that’s all we have . . and they come off a 22 hours flight!! Might need to rectify that 🙂
Your place is so cute and you’re right – it’s really all you need, especially since you seem to be out and about all the time! Definitely pick up a bike when you have time – I got one 2 years ago and love it!!

October 27, 2009 at 7:49 amSo cute! It has character and nice light, which is really all you need…and a gas stove!

October 27, 2009 at 8:03 amI’ll definitely try that breakfast cookie, I’ve been curious for a while and when I was reading Ginas’ blog I decided I had to try it eheh
Your home is small but it’s cute and more than enough for one person! Love your little nest eheh And the kitchen 🙂
Hope your camera arrives fast!
Have a great day Jenna!

your place is adorable! i used to love living on my own, too. i had roommates for 2 years and when i finally got a studio apartment on my own, it was ahhhhmazing.

October 27, 2009 at 8:04 amgood timing on the camera!
Unfortunately I never liked the breakfast cookie idea. I tried it once, but I think it’s a texture thing…just tasted soggy to me. oh well. glad you enjoyed yours!

October 27, 2009 at 8:10 amI really enjoyed your vlog!! 🙂 your apartment is so cute – love the coziness. it must be so exciting to have your very own place! congratulations 😀
mmm breakfast cookie… still need to try that. i like using 3/4 cup of oats instead of 1/2 when eating oats – much more satisfying.
enjoy yoga!

October 27, 2009 at 8:11 amI’ve never tried the breakfast cookie but it sounds so yum. Had some banana overnight oats this AM though and that was lovely. 🙂

October 27, 2009 at 8:17 amdude, that’s not small at all! at least your kitchen has a counter… my fiance’s last place (before we moved in together) seriously had no counter-we had the coffee maker on the table!
Kate
October 27, 2009 at 8:19 amSuper cute. I like the floors and the built-in shelving. It doesn’t seem that tiny at all, but I used to live in a ridiculously small studio, so everything since that has seemed spacious!

October 27, 2009 at 8:20 amYou need some furniture 🙂 Your place is super cute and very livable.

October 27, 2009 at 8:31 amLove the house! it’s perfect for one and some friends from time to time 🙂 I think it really worked out perfectly that you didn’t get to bring all of your belongings at once! trust me, as a packrat, I know how stressful it is to downsize and still have everything from your family home 🙂
I really hope cali keeps treating you well- you deserve it! Hope the ankle’s getting better!

October 27, 2009 at 8:39 amThanks for showing us where you live Jenna! I love the picture in your living room above the bookshelf. I have a coffee cup with that same saying on it! You seem to be settling in really well.. good for you!! I bet you will be thrilled when your Mom gets there for a visit!

October 27, 2009 at 8:42 amHi. I’ve been following your blog for a while, and really enjoy it. I had a quick question — did you get your nutrition/wellness certification from AFPA? I’m considering their program and wondering if it’s worthwhile. Thanks!

October 27, 2009 at 9:15 amLove your Vlogs! You are too cute! Your new place is adorable and seems like such a good fit for you. I lived in the tiniest English basement in the West Village of NYC (your kitchen is almost the size of my whole apartment! aahh), but it was so perfect for me at the time. Cozy can be wonderful. 🙂
Congrats on surviving your first tour!

October 27, 2009 at 9:43 amYour place is sooo cute!! Little places are so easy to decorate, and you are so right when you say easy to clean! Plus, it is so easy to feel lonely in a huge house. I would rather feel nice and cozy in a small house for sure!

October 27, 2009 at 9:51 amLess is more, as your cute new place proves. I couldn’t agree more, smaller kitchen = smaller messes. I have a pretty small kitchen and love the fact that I can clean its floors (on hand and knee) in less than 3 min.
I will have to try that cookie! Sounds deliciously energizing.

October 27, 2009 at 10:08 amLoved the tour! Such a wonderful and bright spot you have. I especially like it because my place is just as small 🙂 Except, believe it or not, my kitchen is even SMALLER. I have just enough counter space for a large cutting board and that’s it! So true about the quick clean-up though. I can clean my whole place in an hour 🙂

October 27, 2009 at 11:31 amLove your place! Perfect for one! And easy to keep clean! My son just moved into his first place! Similar size, his is 600 sq. ft! But perfect for him and some sometimes guests!
Also join freecycle.org for your area and look for items you may want or need! There are people out there who no longer want to keep what they have or are upgrading and don’t want to send stuff to the landfills! Or are moving and need to get rid of stuff! Post your wants or just watch the offers!
I also check tracking numbers for items I am anticipating!
And I will have to try Gina’s breakfast cookie! I have thought about it before, but now that I have been reminded, it just may be tomorrow’s breakfast!

October 27, 2009 at 11:42 amFun! Thanks for the tour. Love the Paris ‘Tar-jay’ poster. Tons of appeal & character. If that were for sale on Malibu beach wd be $1M. It’s like the smart cottages in ‘Coastal Living’ magazine. http://www.coastalliving.com/homes/idea-houses/
A canvas like that excites my designer roots. White duck slip covers, ‘Free-cycle’ finds, spots of color and some cool posters or blown-up images from that fits standard Ikea white frame, a rescue cat, et voila.
When lived in Santa Barbara was in a group of 500 that had monthly wine and cheese socials in different members homes. Many forgettable McMansions. The MOST fab was a woman’s cottage that she’d pulled together with min $ and lots of thought. Was Fab. With the good bones of your place.
How great to have peace of being alone to recharge, too. Congrats!
PS: Inexpensive ‘lock’ idea for leaving windows open at night: Open to level that lets plenty of air in but that doesn’t allow entry. Measure from the upper edge of the window on the interior of the window frame, to the top of the window slide area. Have the hardware store cut wood dowels cut at that length. Since standard size will only need to measure once.

October 27, 2009 at 12:37 pmHi Jenna,
I have read your lovely blog for almost a year now. Your constant praise for yoga has me itching to try it. Just the other day I did a couple of Polly’s videos and they felt AMAZING! I would love to try some longer sessions. I know you have mentioned Dave Farmar – but is that too much or too complicated for a beginner like myself? What would you recommend for a yoga newbie?

October 27, 2009 at 1:00 pmLoved the vlog and your cute place!! I love how “at home” you are with living alone. Enjoy it while you can…. I wish I had really relished the experience when I was in living it (which wasn’t that long anyway). One day (before you know it) you’ll have a house full of hubby and kids….and while I love it…..I sometimes long for the peace and simplicity of days gone by.
Like I said…funny thing…I never really took the time to appreciate it like you do. ENJOY!!!

October 27, 2009 at 6:47 pmCongrats on you new apartment and living on your own!! It actually reminds me of my old apartment in Juno Beach, FL. I had those awesome window A/C units and actually had to turn on the heat component last winter. I no longer live there, but I had two years living single in my teeny apartment and loved having my own space.
It’s great to see you are enjoying your new life on your own and really growing so much over the past 6 months. You are such an inspiration to us all 🙂 Thanks for sharing your life experiences with everyone.

all a big two thumbs up!!
