Breaking the Salmon’s Back

Thanks everyone for all the super motivating comments!!!!! I have been reminding myself all day about tonight’s class and just ate a pretty hefty snack to get ready! But first…….

Breakfast was pumpkin banana oatmeal made with 1/2 cup oats, 1 cup silk lite vanilla, 1/3 cup canned pumpkin, 1 banana, 1 spoonful almond butter and pom. seeds!

It was SO filling! I have forgotten how filling pumpkin oats are but yesterday I bought two cans of pumpkin so looks like I’ll be eating it for awhile! Breakfast stayed with me until about 9:45, when I broke out the nuts I had packed:

img_3336.JPG

Nuts did the trick and I ate my DELICIOUS sandwich around noon…..I usually eat around 11:15 or 11:30 but I wanted to push it back a little because I’ll be eating a later dinner because of my spinning class tonight!

img_3333.JPG

This was seriously the best sandwich I have ever packed. 2 slices of Arnold’s protein bread, 3 slices boars head turkey, 1 light laughing cow cheese wedge, 2 bread & butter pickles and 2 tbsp spicy hummus! Kabam!!!

And since I am working out later than usual and at a higher intensity, I chowed down at snacktime—-half of a freshly baked bagel (baked by yours truly this morning), toasted with pb&j:

It was pretty large. The raw dough weight was 4 oz, making this a whopper!

Yum.

Aside from baking, I also broke a salmon’s back:

img_3345.JPG

Sorry if that’s gross but you have to do it before filleting it….I won’t get into details! haha!

I also baked TONS of olive focaccia:

And did lots of everyday stuff like bake rolls, make pizza dough and bake cookies. We got these tiny apples and pears in from our purveyor and I thought they would make a cute picture:

img_3344.JPG

How cute is that??! The strawberry is larger than the apple and the same size as the pear. Hehe

And I have good news!!!!!!! I can go home for Thanksgiving!!!!!!!!! On Thanksgiving day I will be working probably from 4 or 5 am until 3 pm, and I think I’m just going to haul my butt and drive straight home to my parent’s house so I can get there by 6:00 and have Thanksgiving dinner with them….and then I’ll have the next two days off. Not ideal by any means, but you do what you gotta do!

And more good news!! LOOK what was on my doorstep!!!!

I love you Chobani!!!!! I am so so so so so psyched!!!! I have never tried a flavored Chobani before so I cannot WAIT to break one open! And they don’t sell them here in Vero since we don’t have a Whole Foods. I will be reviewing the flavored ones as I eat them so look for that to come!

I’m off to continue to motivate myself for the gym by getting into my workout clothes….see you tonight!

    Grace,

As a food blogger, I do get contacted by different companies looking for me to review their products on the blog—therefore, I do get free food sometime! A definite perk to the job description! hehe!

Those teeny tiny fruits are adorable- what do you use them for? Also you said you make pizza dough- do you have a recipe? I love trying new recipes, and since I am a celiac I try to make resurant type recipes for my husband and I to enjoy at home!

How nice of Chobani! You know, I’ve been looking for it everywhere around here (I live in the suburbs of Philadelphia), and no luck! I did find the flavored ones, but not the plain ones. I prefer plain yogurt so I can add my own flavorings. The vanilla was great, though. I’ll be curious to see how the other flavors are. That’s great that you get to go home for Thanksgiving! Do you think you’re going to make something at work and bring it with you?

yummmm yay for chobani!! hint, hint … try pumpkin mixed with either plain or vanilla, depending on how sweet you like it. add cinnamon (or that yummy brown sugar stuff you have) and it’s awesome!!

    Beth,

You can find more info on the study at: http://www.lifeway.com/believinggod . I really enjoy it!

    A + M,

I buy this at my local publix! two slices of bread have 14 grams of protein. It’s woooonderful!

    Talia,

Unfortunately, I cannot give out any recipes to the things I make at work. I have used pizza dough recipes in the past though from Cooking Light and had great results! We use those super cute fruits for fruit plates and garnish. Actually, I believe Adam candied those little apples as well one time!
