Breakfast/ Lunch

Busy Busy Day!

Good Morning!

I have a really busy day in front of me!! After work I have to race home, eat quickly and race to the tire place before school because I went there last night on my way to school (its across the street) and they told me I need a brand new tire because mine has a huge nail in it. πŸ™ Why do these things happen to me?! I just hope it will be okay until I can get to the tire place around 5:30. I don’t have far to drive today but I do have to get on the interstate to get to work and back. I guess I’ll just drive slow.

There won’t be any pictures until Friday from school because right now we are just prepping all the stuff for the showing tomorrow night. I’m going to take a ton of pictures of everything tomorrow night when its all done so it will have to be a surprise! Last night went very well though and we were able to get everything done off the checklist (yes, I wrote a checklist) that we were supposed have done. We made all the sponges, cakes and doughs then tonight we will start to assemble everything. I have to admit, I’ll be glad come Friday when this class is over. It’s just exhausting because we do so much stuff!Β  It is known as the highest production class in the whole program and that’s an understatement. I just hope my grade will reflect all the hard work I put into it every night! Speaking of grades, I was pleased to receive a letter in the mail yesterday that said I made the honor roll because of my high GPA (I have a 3.8 I think). Yay!

This morning I was finally able to wake up and hit the gym for an upper body workout starting with a treadmill warm-up and ending with abs. I had half a banana with almond butter before I went and then just made a classic bowl of oatmeal with soymilk (no coconut milk this time!), half a banana, dried cranberries and almond butter. Creamy and delicious.

For lunch today I decided to keep things simple with a plain ol’ almond butter and jelly sandwich on Ezekiel bread. I also packed some veggie chips and some melon chunks and a soy yogurt for a snack laterΒ  on.

I have to jump in the shower and get to work! We are having a fashion show/luncheon at Roy’s today so I have to look extra pretty and get there a little early to help set up. I promise I will get to all your questions tomorrow on my day off!!! Have a great day!

Jenna, I have a question. What is your the curriculum for your pastry school? Like how many years? Do you only take classes Do you have to do a big externship? Just curious! I’m getting my PhD in pharmacology, but I would LOVE to be a chef….maybe in my next life!! I love to hear how others are continuing their education! Thanks πŸ™‚

    Good morning Jenna πŸ˜‰

Don’t feel bad… stuff like that happens to me all the time… I am about due for a disaster, it’s been a few weeks!

What brand of veggie chips do you get? I’ve been looking for something like them, but can’t seem to find any good brands in stores… I wouldn’t mind ordering them online though!

    Andrea,

I mix it in. I’ve never tried the keep it on the spoon method. I always gobble it down too fast πŸ˜‰

    Lindsay,

these veggie chips are generic brand from my local health food store’s deli. I believe some readers have been finding them at Whole Foods though? I’m not sure of the brand name they have been buying…

    Jess,

I do an accelerated 15 month program with a 3 month exernship at the end before graduation. My advice is to do your homework because there are a ton of different schools offering different programs. Its quite pricey too!! I believe the CIA in hyde park, NY does a 2 year program where you can get your bachelor’s degree as well as your culinary arts degree. I’m just going for my pastry degree because I already have my BA.

i have the exact same sandwich packed today. raspberry jam and almond butter on ezekiel bread. i find that ezekiel bread makes such amazing sandwiches!! i love eating bread with such a hearty texture.

For all you Dreena Burton fans…

I posted this over at Kath’s blog too, so ignore me if you’ve already seen my question! After seeing so many of Dreena’s recipes on different blogs, I want to buy ALL of her cookbooks, but can’t afford to at one time. So which one is your favorite – The Everyday Vegan, Vive Le Vegan!, or ED&BV?

Jenna, just wanted to let you know…

Maybe you should ask the tire person if there is something you can fill the hole with until you’re ready to buy a new tire. Way on the other side of the world where I live, most people are really good at making things last as loooong as possible. I got a huge nail in my tire about a month ago, and the guy took out the nail and filled the hole with some black tar-like stuff and the tire has been great since then. I need a new one but at least it’s buying me time till I can afford one. I hope it all works out for you, either way! :o)

hey for everyone interested in the veggie chips–

i buy the exact same ones at whole foods. they aren’t a brand, they are found in the bulk section along with the dried fruit, nuts, etc and come in a round plastic containers. there is just a sticker on them that says “veggie chips.” get them, they’re DELICIOUS.
