I think I got it all and I’m ready to run!!! Honestly, THIS is why I’m doing races again….the morning of is just so exciting! After such a disappointing last fall when I reallyyyyy wanted to train for a half and had to drop out (again! ugh) because of my shins, getting to run these races this spring is such a blessing to me! And the fact that I honestly feel like I’m getting better and stronger every day is amazing…..who knows, maybe I can finally run that half marathon next year that I’ve been wanting to do for almost three years now?! Anything is possible =)
The alarm went off this morning at 6:15 but I had been up since 5:30. I quickly made some coffee and took out the breakfast cookie I had made last night —
(Ryan left me the CUTEST note on top of my cookie in the fridge. That’s why I love him!)
These breakfast cookies might be the world’s best pre-race breakfast because they are filling enough to fuel you, yet light enough so you don’t feel anything weird sloshing in your tummy. Thanks again, Gina! Today’s cookie was a combo of 1/2 cup oats, 1/4 scoop vanilla protein (all that was left in the cannister!), 1/2 mashed banana, 1 tbsp almond butter and 2 tbsp lowfat milk. It was good but I like them made with chocolate protein and chocolate chips better! 😉
I’m riding to the race with my mom, Margaret and my dad. My dad is the official camera man today so hopefully he’ll get some good shots at the finish! I don’t want to jinx myself now, but I feel so much more ready for this race than I did the Gasparilla Race a few weeks ago. I had just come back from injury and had only been running again for about three weeks to get ready for that and even though I finished with a decent time, I totally ran my heart out and felt exhausted at the end. Since then, I have run three pretend 5K races and now I am much more confident in the 3.1 mile distance.
I’m just going to have fun today and I’m SO proud of my mom for doing this with me because not only has she never ran a race before, but she never really has even RUN before. She decided to sign up with me and then took it very seriously and has been training for the past three weeks every other day. I’m so proud! =)
