Breakfast/ Dinner

Chick Flick

Morning!

So, last night I saw Valentine’s Day…..SO GOOD!!!!!!! Seriously, y’all must see this movie. It was one of those “feel good” movies that makes you both laugh and cry. And the screenwriting was pretty amazing. Before the movie, Kelly and I went to grab some sushi for dinner. I had a seaweed salad:

A veggie roll with avocado and shiitake mushrooms (SO yummy!):

IMG_4633
I was still sort of hungry after this so I ordered some tofu appetizer…but it wasn’t my favorite and I only ate one piece.

After the movie was over I met my friend Ali for a glass of wine a fun bar in Santa Rosa. She’s letting me borrow all her snowboarding gear for Tahoe next weekend…I’m so nervous!! eek!
I was SO tired and literally crashed into my bed around midnight. This morning, made a waffle sandwich for breakfast with kashi blueberry waffles, almond butter and jam:

And I’m about to head to the coffee shop to write for a few hours then I’m heading to the winery to work for the afternoon.
See you tonight!

I really want to see that movie so badly! It’s had such mixed reviews – a blog I read earlier said it was awful, the radio reviewer said it was average, and you loved it! I think I’ll rent it when it comes out 🙂
That sushi looks lovely – I’ve never had sushi before, I’d love to try that too!Have a good afternoon 🙂

LOVED Valentine’s Day!! I actually didn’t have very high expectations for it but it was fabulous. Everyone says that Taylor Swift wasn’t very good in it but I thought that her part was hilarious!

I’m glad you liked the movie! My husband and I were kinda disappointed with it :/ Such great actors/actresses but I thought it was a bit slow and so many stories to keep up with! Fun idea though 🙂 And Ashton MADE the movie. Love the waffle sandwich!

I really loved Valentine’s day! Getting tired of the bad reviews saying it’s not the most intellectual movie viewing experience lol It was never marketed as such! i thought the storyline was super cute and feel good. Even my boyfriend loved it! Anyway, as a vegetarian I’m glad you gave up meat for lent because you’re giving me all sorts of nice veg meal ideas like that waffle sandwich 🙂 Have a great day!

So jealous of your Tahoe trip…I LOVE snowboarding there, and didn’t have free time to drive up north this year.

I thought Valentine’s Day was just OK. It had a lot of big name actors in it, but I wouldn’t consider all of them to be extremely talented (read: Jessica Alba). I think my expectations for it were way too high, b/c I was expecting to see an inter-weaved storyline that was more like Love Actually.

Thank you for showing such a great breakfast. Waffles, bananas , almond butter …yum! Not as much as I eat…but nice to see REAL food…and no fancy gadgets or shakes or something. Inspiring to just be real and eat and love 🙂
    That movie sounds nice Jenna.
Chick-flicks are good. Same with novels. Some novels are soo cheesey to read, but who cares, good to just forget real serious stuff. What do you like to read (if you ever have the time!)?

Hi Jenna! I love your blog. I was just wondering – how do you afford to eat out as much as you do? Do you follow a food budget each month? Is your grocery shopping limited due to the amount of meals you eat out? Just curious. Thanks!

    • jenna
      February 21, 2010 at 11:20 am

      Katie,

I think this might be my most asked question….ever! I’ll just answer it totally honestly and we can all lay it to rest. Most times when I go out to dinner, I DO NOT PAY because they are dates. I probably only pay for my meals out maybe once a week. And, weekly, I only spend about $40 at the grocery store. I tried to budget everything and it all fell apart so now I just spend money intuitively. I’m trying to live it up as much as I can out here and enjoy myself (and the food!) because who knows what the future will bring!

Yum, that waffle sammie looks fantastic. Thanks for the recommendation about Valentine’s Day… I was hesitating bc I felt like it was going to be another “He’s just not that into you” which for some reason really annoyed me. Oh well…

Amen to “living it up while you can” Jenna – your right, one does not know what the future holds. Plus, you don’t have to justify what you do. As long as it makes you happy.
I LOVED that movie!! Soo cute….I actually teared up at the part where Julia R. hugs the little boy @ the end – lame o’ sap here 😉

I always get seaweed salad!! This picture just made me realize how long it has been!! I always find I am never satisfied with just one roll, but if I get too, I get bored and don’t finish the entire thing. I usually have to get some regular sushi OR there is a place near me that makes a dessert roll with warm banana, raspberry and topped with a nutella like sauce and coconut…did I mention it is slightly tempura?! TO DIE FOR!
