Exercise/ Fitness/ Lunch

Circa 4th Grade

hi friends! Thank you all SO MUCH for all the sweet, encouraging and inspiring comments on my previous post. Y’all really know how to make me smile! 🙂

Sorry for the bit of blog headache this morning!! We’ve had some server issues but hopefully everything is back in the clear now. I feel like this little (big) blog is roaming around cyberspace looking for a home big enough for it. 🙁

Other than blog headaches, things are going well! Yoga was awesome…the music was amazinggggg this morning. I don’t know if y’all know this random fact about me, but I was a dancer for many, many years. Dance team at school…. pointe shoes, ballet and jazz on the side. Because of this, music totally moves me. Totally made the whole class. And I had a heart to heart with Jen, my instructor, as well. Yoga just moves us to open our hearts in more ways than one I suppose!

For lunch I had a turkey, hummus and provolone sandwich on a whole wheat Arnold sandwich thin with cucumber, carrots and a fruit strip. I felt like this was such an elementary school kid lunch with my “dessert”!

There may or may not have been a little bit of digging into the chip bag 😉

Okay, I seriously cannot keep these in the house anymore…..they are SO addicting!!!!

Sarah and Jessica are picking me up in a little over an hour and we are heading to Orlando for the Deeper Still conference! I AM SO EXCITED!!!! I feel like Beth Moore played such a huge role in my faith last year and seeing her live with thousands of other strong Christian women is going to be amazing. Plus, it’s always nice to get out of town with your girlfriends….even for just a night.

Going to try to blog tonight from my hotel room….taking my airport card since we all remember how Jenna’s ethernet plug does not work after The Healthy Living Summit last month and I was forced to blog from the hotel lobby late at night. Hah

Enjoy your Friday!

Have you ever tried using a roller for your shins? I’m having a giveaway on my blog for one from a great company. Their products have really helped me control my knee pain and a bunch of other aches.

Ahh, a good yoga class can completely turn the day around 🙂 Your simple lunches always look so wholesome and yummy – I used to eat fruit leathers by the boxful when I was a freshman in college.

Beth Moore is AMAZING! My first ever bible study was her Breaking Free. Talk about DEEP! Really helped me break free (no pun intended) of some past hurts, guilt, etc. And then I got to see her live in Chicago a few years ago. Talk about life changing. That woman is amazing & I love that she shares so much of her life. It’s truly humbling to see how God can use us even when we are broken.

    Enjoy your weekend, Jenna!

Hey Jenna! I couldn’t comment on the last post – but wanted to ask if you’ve considered cutting back on running days a week? I’m not sure how many you’re doing now, but maybe cutting down to just two days of running, with lots of helpful cross training in between may help with the pain! Just a thought 🙂

Have a blast at the conference!

I was going to Deeper Still this weekend but had to cancel at the last minute – couldn’t find a dog sitter and John is out of town 🙁 Beth Moore is my favorite! Love Travis Cottrell too. Have a wonderful weekend and we want to hear all about it.

I think it’s awesome that you were a dancer. I always partook in solo activities growing up, at least in terms of physical activity :-). I hope that you have a lovely time at the conference!

Ok Jenna! 🙂 Read this…please read this.. 🙂 I read the book Born to Run. I have also stuggled with pain while running although mine is mostly in my knees and ankles…but this book inspires…and perhaps running barefoot is the key. They have special shoes that are called five fingers…which are huge in seattle,wa…selling out at REI…Many track teams around the country train barefoot…prevents injuries…or so many believe. Will it help you? do not know…but a GREAT book for you to read and look into. Its a fun read as well. 🙂 Perhaps a natural way to running would make it less painful for you…anyway..hope you feel better…I love your blog!! by the way. 🙂 My vitamix is on its way…so excited!! Erin

Jenna, I’ve been a reader for awhile but haven’t commented before. I just wanted to say – Rest is a very important part of training, especially if you are in pain. It is very important and healthy to listen to your body. Good for you on keeping a great attitude! I am a runner/triathlete (but I am not built like a runner) and one suggestion…have you changed your shoes? (Sorry if you’ve heard this before. I don’t know your whole situation.) If you haven’t tried it before, check out a running store where they will fit you, look at your feet, and even watch how you run. This has been my strategy when buying shoes and I haven’t had any problems related to my shoes. (Again, sorry if I’m repeating what others have said.) Good luck, and I hope you feel better. You’re doing awesome! (Also, I love your blog!)

I’m so glad to hear you sounding a bit more upbeat and less frustrated as the day goes on. Sometimes we all just need to let our feelings out and talk them through!

That lunch looks so fabulous! Carrots are so fun to eat whole!

Hang in there, Jenna. As you said, we’re not all meant to be runners, and you excel in so many other areas of your life. Be gentle and kind to yourself. Have a great time in Orlando!

I love Beth Moore and her Bible Studies. We have used the video ones in my church programs before and the ladies loved them. Enjoy the conference in person..they are always an amazing experience.

I love music too…it just moves me. I played instruments in school bands from the time I was in 2nd grade until the middle of college. The types of movements and beats in music just move me and make me open up.

Hey Jenna!!! Stumbled upon your blog thru Lara at Thinspired….and I love it! I hope your legs are feeling better; I know what it’s like to not be able to do “your” activity (for me it’s running and spinning), and it is quite disheartening. Maybe this weekend is just what you need to rest and recoup 🙂
Your sandwich is so cute – I’ve been wanting to try the sandwich thins and this might’ve just prompted a trip to the market….
Hope you have a great day! I just started up a blog of my own a couple weeks ago, and am looking to others for some “blogspiration” and cues as to the best way to format my own. Thank you for helping through your awesome blog 🙂
