My mom and I had a lovely early dinner tonight at Flemings. Everything was soo delicious (and half price for me because of Roy’s..yay!) and of course I ordered my favorite salmon and relished every bite! Here’s a recap:
When we got their, we were greeted with yummy crudite with both an olive spread and a champagne infused cheese. I had probably two of the toast points with both dips as well as a couple pieces of celery. I was starving when I got there for some reason!
I tried something different tonight and ordered a “flight” of wines instead of one glass. When I have one glass I always want another glass and tonight was the perfect amount! My flight included three 2 ounce pours of any wine I wanted and I chose one white (Conundrum–yuuuum) and two reds. I slowly savored the first one with my first course and had the other two with my entree. The result? Not wanting anymore wine because my mind was tricked into thinking I had three glasses!
Speaking of my first course—but of course I ordered my absolute fav—French Onion Soup. Flemings makes one that is to die for! I only eat this soup maybe twice a year and always relish it. This was a huge crock and my mom helped me out on it but we still only finished about 80% of it.
My salmon!! Cooked to perfection with the “butter” sauce on the side. It didn’t need it at all! I also added some sugar snap peas and about a tablespoon of my mom’s blue cheese mashed potatoes.
With delicious bread!
I ate one slice of the salmon plus one of my mom’s scallops. I was already getting full after all the soup and crudite. I took the other slice of salmon home with me though because it will make a stellar lunch in the morning!
We were wayyy too stuffed for dessert……..so I came home and made some herbal tea and ate a couple marshmallows! (This batch of marshmallows is hands down the BEST batch I’ve made so far! They are chewy, sweet and perfect!!!!)
I’m taking a bath and hitting the sack early to read!

July 20, 2008 at 2:29 amThis all looks delicious – and I feel the same way about French Onion Soup 🙂 I have to say, I think it’s great that you went out to dinner with your mom — mine lives about four hours away, and I miss her so much! You just reminded me how much I can’t wait to see her and go out to dinner!
Have a good night!

July 20, 2008 at 2:46 amThat dinner looks excellent… I love that they give you crudite to start, instead of the usual bread and buttah. After your rave review, I may just have to give Fleming’s a try! What is your verdict on the scallops? (my favorite food in the world, so most certainly what I’d order.)
P.S. The Commander-in-Chief mug? Very cute 🙂
