Exercise and Snack

I just had a great workout + steam at the gym! It was “leg” day so I started with 15 minutes on the elliptical machine while reading my new, can’t-put-down book:

Then, I did some lunges with a medicine ball, various machines and calves. It felt great. When I got home I made a post-workout snack including a fruit bowl (1 navel orange and a kiwi), a handful of whole wheat crackers and a small handful (not pictured, sorry!) of raw almonds…maybe around 10-12? I finished what was left at the bottom of my almond can. Need to buy more!

Now I’m energized and ready to start preparing for my practical later…

I love the elliptical machine. I had an obsession with it last year. I couldn’t get myself off of it, especially when I was reading a book.

I noticed you keep the peels on the sliced kiwi. This may be a stupid question… but do you eat it? Or do you take it off before eating it?

I always eat the skin! More fiber! Plus, who has the time to carefully scoop the little kiwi out of it?! I actually really like the skins…

Both of yall would actually really like this book. I def. recommend checking it out! Let me know what you think…

Eating the skin on a kiwi?? Wow! It’s not furry? (they always seem like they would be prickly!!)

I was just fixing to ask about the skin on the kiwi. I’ve never seen anyone eat it. The furriness would throw me!

    tsbrown,

I like popcorn but I would prefer to pop my own. I need to get a popcorn popper or something. Popcorn can def. be a very healthy snack if you limit the oil used and butter topping!

I will definitely have to give the skin on a kiwi a try! The furriness of it always turned me off.

And about popcorn… I figured out the best method. I use a brown paper bag (lunch bag) and stick a few tablespoons of popcorn and microwave it until it’s all done. It’s so fast, and I never add oil. Maybe some nutritional yeast.

I just bought a big bag of black popcorn to make on the stove. I was going to make it for the movie, but the kids fell asleep!

Anyway, I just wanted to share the book I found, I posted on Kath’s site as well. Its “Diet for a Posioned Planet’ by David Steinman. It was written in 1990 which really surprised me. It sounds along the same lines as your book. I just got it and haven’t started yet, but I can’t wait!

And Jenna, since you seem to love books as much as I do, I don’t know if you have “Half Price Books” down there, but they are fantastic. Last weekend, I spent $35 and got 5 books, 2 of which are text books. But it is a dangerous place, I can spend hours there and find many books I never knew I loved!
