Dessert/ Dinner

Feels Like Summer

Tonight Ryan, my brother, and I grilled out on the parent’s bbq. We grilled tofurky dogs on sprouted wheat rolls (Ryan asked for these??!!), and I sliced up some veggies, marinated them in EVOO, red wine vinegar, salt, pepper, rosemary and basil, and we threw those on the grill as well. Everything was all very tasty! The veggies that I grilled were parsnips, portobellas, summer squash and red bell peppers. I ate the majority of it but Ryan did try a couple parsnips and squash pieces. He HATES mushrooms. Like, really really really hates mushrooms. I had to promise him that his squash pieces were no where near the deathly mushroom slices on the grill…only then was he okay with eating it. 😉 I also had a glass of red wine with my meal and snacked on a couple crackers while cooking. My lunch held me over very well all day but I did snack on a banana around 3:30.

After we grilled, cleaned up and gave Mikan a LONG walk, Ryan and I rented Juno from Blockbuster. It was soooooooo good!!!! I highly recommend it! Totally my sense of humor. I had some tea and a peanut butter nanas cookie.

Everyone is gone now (Ryan back to the apartment where he’s staying with Dexter and John out with friends) and I’m about to walk Mikan one last time then go upstairs, take a bath and get into bed to read for awhile. Tomorrow I have to work things out with school first thing…I’m desperately hoping there is some way to not have to re-do these 3 weeks and graduate later—I’m going back to Orlando on Thursday because my dad can come home then and watch over things and work needs me for Mother’s Day weekend.

Tomorrow = Bikram yoga at noon! I’m planning my day around it (there’s not much else to plan).

    HI Jenna!

Hope all is going as well as can be expected with the family. When it rains it seems to pour.

I love Bikram – almost my one year anniversary – and i try to go 3 times a week and wish I could go more. I try not to think how much I spend on it because I figure its one of the few things I do just for me and i enjoy it 100%! We are spoiled in Philly with an awesome stuido downtown (near work) and in suburbs ( same distance from home but never traffic on weekends).

Keep smiling and I cant wait to hear how yog went!

Oh – Bikram is a set of 26 postures done in a heated (105 to 115) room. http://www.bikramyoga.com

Haha, it seems everyone either loves or hates mushrooms (I think you are crazy for not liking them!)

How is that nana’s peanut butter cookie? I’ve tried the ginger and was a little put-off by the texture, but I think they may have been old.

YAY! it put a smile on my face to see that you had an enjoyable evening….it’s funny how things work out…this little hiatus could be a blessing in disguise (you were seriously burning the candle at both ends b/w school, work, commitments, etc.).

I think it’s sweet that Ryan wanted something that was obviously more for you 🙂

Have a great week, your dog is adorable!

This goes back to the post about getting sick on dairy.

I was vegan for a couple of years, then began eating dairy in very small amounts, which was ok for me. Then I got pregnant and CRAVED everything dairy, so now I can eat it without a problem. I guess your body gets used to one way or the other, and after I was pragnant, my body craved it. Probably just craved the calcium, but you try to tell that to a pregnant woman who is demaning a block of cheese!

Have to chime in on Juno. It was really great, even my husband who usually isn’t a big fan of “indie comedies” thought it was hilarious. Plus, with Jason Bateman how could it go wrong 🙂
