Dinner

Finally Back

Hi guys!

First of all—thank you all so much for all the encouraging comments! All your comments really make my day so much better. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

It’s 8:00 here and I just got back to my apartment in Orlando. I’m so happy because my roommate is finally back after being gone off and on for a couple months! I finally don’t feel like I live here alone anymore! πŸ™‚ I didn’t end up leaving tampa til late because my eye appointment ran much longer than expected. The good news is that i am FINALLY a candidate for LASIK eye surgery!!!!! I actually am legally blind and my contacts are super super strong…but every year I go to the eye doctor my prescription changes (for the worse) and finally today they said my eyes were stable enough to have the surgery! Now I just have to petition someone to buy it for me because it runs on the pricey side πŸ™ Hopefully sometime in the next few years I will get to have it!

On my way out of Tampa I just ran through Subway for dinner. I wasn’t very hungry due to my fries at lunch as well as a late-afternoon snack of a low-fat cappuccino milkshake (only 140 calories and it was huge and soooo good!). I think Subway isΒ  the best fast food option for people on the go. I get a lot of people asking me about it because so many of us are so busy that making lunch for ourselves everyday is just simply out of the question! Subway is the freshest, tastiest and fastest option I have found and tonight I was even happier to find out that they now offer apple chunks as a side instead of chips! So, I happily ate my 6 inch turkey and provolone cheese sub (no mayo, honey mustard and veggies) with a little baggie of green apple slices! yay! I ate that around 6:00 and its 8:00 now and I’m still not hungry for dessert. I think all my not-so-perfect eating this weekend has finally caught up to me and I feel a little bloated. Ready for a bubble bath and some pjs indeed!

I was a good girl at the eye doctor so Ryan took me to get an all natural low-fat cappuccino milkshake from Evo’s. I don’t know if any of you all have Evo’s because it might just be a tampa/st.pete chain but it is a “fast food” place that offers boca burgers, soy corn dogs, airbaked chicken strips, veggie chili…..all around good for your heart food. I love it! And their milkshakes! at 140 calories its a great snack and a good way to get some of your daily dairy/calcium needs!

I just found out a few months ago that I’m finally a candidate for Lasik too. But now that I can get it, I’m a little scared…not to mention how expensive it is! And, to get back to food, I would love to find a place near me with 140 calorie milkshakes!

Do they have chick-fli-A by you? These are a really great fast food place too with many healthy selections. If you do you should check them out.
PS I never knew they had honey mustard at subway! I just found out that I could put spinach on my sandwich instead of lettuce which is nice for a change.

Jenna how do you find all these new products? Do you spend a lot of time looking at the different ingredients of new products etc?

    Susan,

What new products are your referring to? The milkshake? I’ve known about Evo’s for a long time but only today tried their milkshakes! They have the nutritional info posted on the wall in the restaurant so I took a peak! I LOVE looking at new products though and it seems like every grocery trip always ends up being hours because I spend so much time reading all the ingredients of what I get! I just love knowing everything about the food I eat I guess!

I bet somehow you could whip up a cappuccino milkshake! I wish I could get Lasik, I’m practically blind too! My contacts for both eyes are -6.50 , could it get much worse than that!? Have fun baking tomorrow!!

I was legally blind too, but I got LASIK a few years ago…and the best part? My insurance covered it! It really is the best thing I’ve ever done! Check with your insurance company…mine covered it, and I didn’t think they would.

By the way, that milkshake looks amazing!

Just wanted to let you all know that I got LASIK about a year ago (last March) and my contacts were at a -7. I now have 20/25 vision with no problems whatsoever. I definitely recommend it… and don’t be scared, it is so quick & little recovery time! However, my insurance did not pick it up πŸ™ I wish they did!

    Hi Jenna,

First of all, I am SO jealous of all the great food and treats you get-I live in a small town in Texas right now (military husband..) and there are no good frozen yogurt places or anything like that!! That milkshake looks SO good….

Secondly, I totally agree with what you said about Subway. I always get the exact same thing that you got actually, and it is great to fill up on a bunch of veggies and to have the apples as an option for the side. I love their sandwiches when I need to go pick up food.

Lastly, I actually got Lasik a few years ago, and just wanted to say that you will not regret it!! It is amazing and I can’t tell you how great it is to wake up EVERY morning and not have to deal with contacts or glasses. I am not sure how much they are saying yours is…but I got mine done through Nationwide Vision Centers and it was only $500 an eye!! Super cheap considering that I now have permanent perfect vision!! You might want to check them out (I believe they are everywhere) and they have a really great record! I did a lot of research before I picked who to go through and I know they were one of the best options for one of the best prices!! Good luck!
