Breakfast/ Lunch

Finally “Friday”!

Hello, weekend! =)

I swapped and got Monday off this week instead of Wednesday so I actually HAVE a weekend! From now on, my days off should always be Sunday and Monday. I’m very happy about that!

The bubbles certainly worked last night—-I fell asleep at 7:15 and slept very soundly through the night. When I woke up at 3:15, I felt great and incredibly energized! I snacked on this bar in the early hours—

I LOVE the lemon bar flavor! I got the double whammy this morning because I was sipping on hot water with lemon at the same time!

As I was driving to work it was crazy to see people just leaving the bars….what a complete different life I live. Pita Pit was still open and Starbucks was jamming. I had a great morning at work though mainly because of a surprise visit from my daddy! He got to see me in action, pulling just baked bread out of the 450 degree oven. He bought an all natural carrot muffin top that I had baked this morning, got a cup of coffee, and sat down for awhile in the store.

It was cool showing an “outsider” what I do every day. I call the little metal table next to the oven my “office” because that’s where I stand all day. Pulling bread out of the proof box, slashing them and throwing them in the oven. Today was neat because I got to deal with customers a little bit—explaining some of the different breads and what’s best served with them. Have I mentioned that I love my job?!! 😉

I broke for breakfast around 7:45 and because its Saturday, I got a grande decaf nonfat vanilla latte before going upstairs and having breakfast. However, the drink was incredibly sweet (I just don’t think I’m used to drinking flavored drinks anymore!) and I didn’t drink most of it. Next time I’ll know! For breakfast I packed 3/4 cup oats, pumpkin seed butter and cinnamon/brown sugar. This morning I made my oats with water instead of milk:

Thank you all SO much for all your great breakfast ideas! I’m going to try to make my oats the night before next time. I had another mini explosion in the microwave today and said that’s it. No more!

And then I had ANOTHER visitor at work today! Ryan came and we had lunch together after my shift. I had been tasting bread all day and wasn’t starving so I just had a bowl of homemade lobster bisque and a whole wheat sunflower flax roll that I had pulled out of the oven only a few hours before (haha more bread).

I polished off the soup but only ate half the roll since they are huge! We scale them out raw dough weight at 4 oz, which makes for quite a hefty roll. I also had another Komucha Synergy drink. Uh oh….I think I’m addicted! This is even worse than coffee because they are sooo expensive!

This afternoon I’m going to try to take a nap so I won’t fall asleep at 7 tonight. Ryan and I are going out to dinner and to see Gran Torino later!

I hope everyone is enjoying their Saturday!

Gran Torino was great, I hope you like it! I keep wishing we had a greenwise near us, that bread looks so darn good and Lord knows my whole wheat breads never rise right and just don’t look nearly as inviting as the pics you show.

Glad you got a good night’s sleep…that makes such a difference! And having Ryan and your dad come by probably made the time go fast.

I’ve never seen the Lemon Larabar, but I love the Key Lime, so I bet its great.

    Have a good “Friday” night!

I looove those Kombucha drinks! I recently discovered them when I had a bad cold, and I think it really helped me get better faster. I think I like the Mango and Citrus flavors best (though I haven’t tried the Strawberry yet!). I also drank 1/2 of one before going out for NY Eve and 1/2 the next day and I think it totally prevented a hangover, despite the champagne. 🙂

Oh! And if you ever see the brand Kombucha Botanica, you have to try the Elderflower flavor. It is amazing!

Make sure you take a nice nap so you don’t miss out on any of Gran Torino. Clint Eastwood is absolutely amazing. Pay attention to the way his character changes, and I hope you spot the Jesus parallel in the ending. Be patient with Clint in the beginning, he might seem like a jerk, but you’ll soon learn to understand why he acts the way he does. Even though I only know you from your blog, I think that you’ll appreciate the message of the movie.

Props to you for a) waking up ridiculously early every morning b) being happy and cheerful about it and c) loving your job! Your optimism and constant hard work are truly inspiring. Enjoy your weekend- you deserve it!!!

      BethT,

No we don’t….unfortunately! The reason being that all Publix employees have part ownership of the store (stocks and such). i wish we did though..would save me a hefty sum of money!

      Shelby,

So how long do you cook your oats for once you have soaked them overnight?! I have to try on tuesday…

That’s what I have to do with my oats as well. I always soak them overnight and I never have any explosions. Plus, they get extra creamy.

Love the Lemon Lara! haha what a tongue twister!

I too love the kombucha drinks. You can buy a starter kit so you can grow your own – you keep refreshing it like yogurt, plus it would be fun to play around with the flavours. I’ve often thought about doing it myself.

I’m glad you finally got some rest. I bet you were too!

That was very sweet of your daddy to come visit and see you in action at work. 🙂

Glad to hear you love your job. It makes life so much easier when you enjoy doing what you do most (working).

Lunch looks delish and that’s perfect Ryan can meet you for lunch at your work when you get off. If I worked there I don’t think I would ever leave.

So glad the bubble bath worked and you were up and at it at 3:15AM. It’s crazy that your Starbucks is open that late, or that early rather?

Have fun tonight with the movie and dinner!!

Glad to hear the bubble bath worked and that you got a good night of sleep! AND that you love your job – not everyone can say that, so it’s a great thing.

Have fun on your date! I haven’t seen that movie, but we did see “Defiance” last weekend and it was AWESOME.

So glad you are loving your job and that you will now have 2 days off in a row. That is exciting news!

Kombucha – I was addicted for about a week, and then realized I had to stop buying $4 drinks every afternoon! I love the grape and the mango!

I’ve found the trick to old fashioned oats in the microwave is to start with cold water and turn the power down to 70-80% and cook for 6 minutes. Keep an eye on it and stir every once and a while. Doesn’t solve your time crunch issues, but it will solve the overflow.
