Wow, do I have a great book for you today!
If you loved Sarah’s Key, you will LOVE The Lost Wife! I started reading this book over the holidays and just flipped the last page yesterday. I loved every single word. It’s the beautiful love story of Lenka and Josef, spanning from pre-WW2 to present day—-I couldn’t put it down! Reading of Lenka’s time spent at a Jewish work camp, and later at Auschwitz, made me cry. I was so wrapped up in the characters that I started to lose sense of reality. Or maybe that was just all the cold medicine I was taking at the time.
You guys need to read this…like, immediately, and start off 2012 with great historical fiction. I’m working to make a place on the blog where you can find all my book reviews together—I’ll let you know when it’s done!

January 5, 2012 at 1:23 pmI’m a huge fan of historical fiction, and am looking forward to checking this one out! If you haven’t read “The Paris Wife” yet, I highly recommend it. It’s a historical-fictional account of Ernest Hemingway’s first marriage, told through the perspective of his wife. I really enjoyed it, and I found the story of their life so interesting that it prompted me to get into a few Hemingway novels 🙂

January 5, 2012 at 1:42 pmHi! I just emailed you about this, but I really want to suggest The Wednesday Wars and Okay For Now by Gary Schmidt. The most endaring two stories I’ve ever read, not to mention I laughed outloud so many times.
I have added The Lost Wife to my to-read list.
My all-time favorites are These Is My Words and To Kill A Mockingbird.

That being said, I just finished “The Apothecary’s Daughter” and really, really enjoyed it. I think you would like it too!
