Happy Monday!
Surprisingly enough, I actually felt asleep at 8:30 last night and had a really good night’s sleep until the alarm buzzed at 3. Well, as good as a night’s sleep as you can have I guess. Could my body finally be adjusting?! When I woke up I had a bite of this bar before heading into work and I finished it around 5:00:
I’m not a huge fan of Luna Bars but I liked this one better than the original kind. Something to do with the texture maybe…it was definitely chewier than your usual luna! I would buy it again.
And then for breakfast I had the usual—1/2 cup oat bran with 1 cup skim, 1 spoonful pumpkin seed butter and a variety of my fresh new spices.
I tried this cinnamon:
It was good! Very “cinnamony!” I also got a Vietnamese Cinnamon in my set but that cinnamon said it was best used for baking purposes.
I also had a starfruit with breakfast!
I LOVE STARFRUIT!!!!!!!
I think someone asked me about it yesterday—I bought two at Greenwise because they were on sale 2 for $3. I grew up eating starfuit…my mom would always buy it for my brother and I for a special treat and I just love it. Its so fresh and tropical! However, its also incredibly expensive so usually I wouldn’t be able to afford it. I think this is the first starfruit I’ve eaten in about 5 years! So delicious though….if you see them on sale, definitely buy!
I met Ryan and Erin for lunch at Greenwise after I got off work at 12:30. They obviously didn’t have to work today so they were free for lunch! I got a large cup of chicken tortilla soup:
And a mixture of the greek salad with salmon (YUM) and the roasted buffalo mozzarella salad. Both were to die for!!!
I think I’m about to do some yoga right now…..just a download because all the classes at the studio are too late for me now on workdays 🙁 . Oh well, yoga at home is better than no yoga at all!
See you for dinner!

January 19, 2009 at 1:57 pmI grew up in West Palm Beach, FL and our house had a starfruit tree in the backyard!! I loved them too!! But, now I’m in Wisconsin (also a fan of Penzey’s spices!), and they are much too expensive….I didn’t know how lucky I was back when I was 8! 🙂 have a good day!

January 19, 2009 at 1:58 pmThanks Jenna. Just thought it would be a nice reminder. 🙂 I wonder if tea with lemon works for a sore throat as well. Think all this snow is making me a little sick. 🙁

Are star fruit in season? I had one a while ago and it was kind of bland…what are they supposed to taste like?

January 19, 2009 at 2:26 pmI love both of the cinnamons that you have from Penzey’s. They are so good, the Vietnamese is definitely much better for baking!

I love Vietnamese cinnamon, in baking, on oats, anything!!! You can’t go wrong with good spices!
Yoga at home is all I can do, and it works for me! Have fun.

January 19, 2009 at 3:31 pmHmm, can you just eat the whole starfruit? Do you cut off skin or anything? I see them all the time, but I never really knew what they are or how to eat them.

January 19, 2009 at 6:08 pmI think I am the only one in my family that actually doesn’t like starfruit. LOL. I am not sure why. Haha! Anyways, great eats for the day. That Luna bar is interesting – never seen it in Canada!

January 19, 2009 at 6:33 pmThis is an incredibly random comment, but I notice that you’ve been packing the pumpkin butter/peanut butter/whatever in a mini Tupperware. I keep on thinking “what a pain to wash” (the downside of packing a lunch!). Have you considered, or ever tried, packing it on the spoon, with the end of the spoon wrapped in a plastic bag or Saran Wrap? You could even rinse out the bag to reuse it. and I assume you’re packing a spoon anyway. I think it would work better for peanut/almond butter than pumpkin butter but would work out pretty well otherwise. I despise washing Tupperware out, so that’s my random suggestion!
