**Warning: major MEAT ahead!!**
So tonight I went to a true Alabama style bbq.….I do love my veggies but this Southern girl loves her bbq too! Ryan’s little cousin is headed to AUBURN next week for his first ever semester of college so tonight there was a huge farewell bbq happening. Now, I went to BAMA so I can’t in my right mind support Auburn…..but it was still fun 😉
Besides the pork, which had smoked for 10 hours (!!), there was a huge spread of baked beans, potato salad, coleslaw, broccoli salad, watermelon and desserts!
My plate with chopped smoked pork, watermelon, potato salad, broccoli salad and baked beans! The watermelon was cold, crisp and delicious!!
Also with an unpictured glass of Shiraz and a chocolate chip cookie 😉
I just got home now and I am so tired my eyes are shutting involuntarily. Need some serious shut-eye asap! I hope everyone had a wonderful and relaxing Sunday!

August 2, 2009 at 10:23 pmYummmm! That food looks delish! I just recently started getting into the blog-o-sphere of healthy eating and, i have to say that ELR is by far my favorite! You are a wonderful writer! I am a teen who is debating between an english major vs. le cordon bleu, so u r a big inspiration for me to do both! I just have a question: What are the requirements for Le Cordon Bleu Paris and how hard is it to get in? Thx! 🙂

August 2, 2009 at 11:20 pmNom nom nom bbq! We had pulled pork and coleslaw for dinner, there is nothin’ better! (although my booty is gonna get kicked at the gym tomorrow) 🙂 For curiosity sake, did you go to Bama for undergrad and take classes in Charleston for grad? Or divide your undergrad up?

August 3, 2009 at 12:07 amHaha, I’m from Birmingham, so I am WELL aware of the Auburn-Bama rivalry. I have one brother in law who went to Auburn and one who went to Bama…it gets intense sometimes;)

August 3, 2009 at 9:17 amWar Eagle!! I won’t hold it against you that you went to Alabama…at least you were smart enough to transfer!! Ha, just kidding.
I live in Auburn and graduated from Auburn (twice!!) so I have school pride to uphold! And Auburn provides my source of income!!
Ryan’s cousin is going enjoy (err, hopefully go to class!!) it here….guess you warned him about crazy tailgating RVing nation since you probably experienced it yourself at Alabama. Pure madness!

August 3, 2009 at 10:44 amYUM! We had smoked pork yesterday too, my cousin got up at 3am to put the meat in the smoker. It was sooo delicious, my aunt made a delicious Carolina yellow mustard bbq sauce to go along with it (I got the recipe to make some since it would be amazing in place of regular yellow mustard). Such good food. The nice thing about my aunt and uncle moving to S. Carolina for a few years is that she brought us back some good Southern cooking.
