Girls Night In

by jenna on September 23, 2008

Hey y’all!

I’m having some very necessary catchup time with my roomie while watching Sex and the City movie (yaaaay!) so this might be a bit brief. Forgive me!

This afternoon I snacked on my favorite pb&j kashi crackers before going out for a run.

I drove out to Lake Eola to do a three mile run…my shins were a little sore but runnable. I did a little under 3 miles (I ran 3 laps around the lake) in 25 minutes and burned 300 calories. Not too shabby! I love it that my heart rate is steadying out a little more when I run outside now. A sure sign that my body is getting used to it and I’m improving!

After I ran I came home, showered, and headed to Pei Wei with the roomie. LOVE this place!!! We ordered edamame to start:

And I got my favorite: the pad thai with tofu and veggies.

What I always do at places like this where I could easily stuff my face, eat the entire bowl and then have a tummy ache later, is get a to go box and box up half before I even start my dinner. This little trick works WONDERS because then you can clean your plate and feel great about it! And, you have lunch for the next day!

After we ate we hightailed it over to blockbuster, determined to get SATC before it was all gone! My roomie has never seen it!!!!!! Ahhh!!!!!! So, I ate a brownie and we started the movie.

I have to study for my cost control test and finish my project while watching the movie but it’s worth it. I hope y’all have equally of amazing evenings and I will check back in the morning!

Hey Jenna,
Did you ever make the banana blender cereal I wrote you about? No worries if you didn’t. I was just curious what you thought of it if you had!

jenna September 24, 2008 at 12:03 am

No I didn’t because I don’t have any flakey cold cereal to use! I marked it down though to remind myself next time I buy cereal I should buy some so I can try that!

Hope you enjoy the movie! I haven’t seen it yet. Your dinner looks delicious!

Sarah September 24, 2008 at 12:55 am

Of course I don’t mean to be bossy and say you must try it! It’s just that it’s so good lol ;). I wonder if it would work with oats. Now I think I’m going to have to try that! Also, I think now I am going to have to make brownies thanks to you, because that brownie is jumping off the screen at me!

Kelly September 24, 2008 at 1:05 am

I tried your vegan brownie recipe and reviewed it on my own site. Thanks for sharing the recipe! It was soooo delish! :-)

Tracy September 24, 2008 at 1:08 am

Sarah- what is the recipe? That sounds like it would be fun to try:)

i always tell myself to box up my meals from the start…but i never have because i feel too embarassed when i’m out to eat with people :( but ireally should!!

i’m soooo obsessed with SEX AND THE CITY!!! great movie pic :) although i loveeee the tv series the best when carrie&big were first starting to date. i did buy the movie too though!

looks like you got in a great run! yay

That dinner looks delicious! I don’t know how I went so long without trying tofu!

I’d skip the brownie though – I don’t have a sweet tooth, however, if it was popcorn or pretzels, those are like crack to me!

I’ve never seen Sex and the City movie either. Is it appropriate for an almost 17 year old daughter to see?

We have Sundays all to ourselves while the boys watch football.

Hey Jenna!
Are there are nationwide chains that you order a “favorite” tofu dish from? I’m from Cleveland – we don’t have a Pei Wei up here, but I’m really interested in trying some new tofu dishes. If you have a chance – let me know if there are any huge chain restaurants you visit that offer tofu on the menu. Love your blog! :) Congrats on your pinning today!

Love the pad thai with tofu and veggies from Pei Wei! now I want some! …and that is a good trick to pack up half right away. I havent seen SATC movie yet either – need to grab it soon!

You have inspired me to try Pei Wei this weekend. We have them here but they have never intrigued me. And huge yay for S&TC being on DVD!!! Enjoy your girls night!

emily September 24, 2008 at 4:09 am

pad thai might be the best thing ever. and I’d like to say congrats as well!

Bridget September 24, 2008 at 1:10 pm

Fun I LOVED the SATC movie!!! Those brownies still look so so good!

Teddy September 24, 2008 at 1:49 pm

Pad thai is the best! Girls nights in are a defitely must about 1 a week for me… hope you had a great one 😉

runjess September 24, 2008 at 2:33 pm

Did you like the SATC movie? I was a huge fan of the tv show and have it all on DVD, but I found the movie was a little lacking.

jenna September 24, 2008 at 4:49 pm

Awww I actually LOVE it. I’ve seen it three times now! Twice in the theater :). I’ve heard some people didn’t think it measured up but I just love it!

jenna September 24, 2008 at 4:50 pm

Hmmmm Honestly I really don’t eat at a ton of chain restaurants so I don’t have a favorite dish! Other than Pei Wei of course. I really don’t care for the tofu at PF Changs and always order the shrimp there instead. I’m sorry I couldn’t be more helpful! :(
