(I’m not sure where I was going with that)
I’m just a really happy person today. I mean, why not? The sun is shining! Got my butt kicked again this morning at yoga. Lots of side planks and handstands. I think I prefer standing on my hands than on my feet?
My studio sells lululemon. Haven’t broke yet but eyeing that blue remix hoodie. Why oh why??!
After yoga I hit up Whole Foods since I was in the area (note the rationalization of being “in the area”). Got a few essentials and lunch, too.
Big salad with roasted veggies, bell peppers, mushrooms, olives, baked tofu, kidney beans and hummus. Missed the hot sauce but drank a Kombucha so I was happy. Kombucha is the ONLY thing that is cheaper in California. They’re $2.99 at Whole Foods here and $4.99 at the health food store in Tampa. Hot dang! My addiction may survive!
I’m setting the timer and writing for an hour and fifteen minutes now before going on a walk and meeting Kelly for tea.
bye!

January 4, 2010 at 1:30 pmoh my, that salad is making my mouth water. I lived right around the corner from Whole Foods when I lived at college, and ate from their salad bar a few times a week! Now the closest Whole Foods is 30 minutes away š Other grocery store salad bars PALE in comparison.
Also…”Iām just a really happy person today. I mean, why not? The sun is shining!” <—that right there is why I truly love following your blog. I tend to become a "glass is half empty" person (yes, I admit it :X) unless my circumstances are 100% perfect. And, obviously, life is never perfect! So thanks for the inspiration, girl =) xoxo

January 4, 2010 at 1:41 pmImpressive handstand. How long have you practiced yoga? I am also struggling with gym vs yoga. I can’t stand treamdills/ellipticals etc but love weight lifting and don’t feel that yoga gives me the strength benefits. But it is so good for my mind and soul.

January 4, 2010 at 2:12 pmI admire your positive attitude! and how did you start learning to do a balanced handstand? I cannot do it without wall support behind me or something to keep my legs up!

January 4, 2010 at 4:44 pmMorgan,
Well, I’ve always been really really afraid of handstands for some reason. I can do headstand no problem, but for some reason handstands just totally freaked me out so I never even tried in all the eight years I’ve been practicing. Then, one day randomly I decided that I was just going to try and the worst thing that would happy would be that I face plant on my mat. And so I kicked up…and it worked! It takes a lot of core and upper body strength!!

January 4, 2010 at 2:20 pmJenna – I now own two LL hoodies and love them both! They are keeping me so warm this winter and the giant hood is great when I really need to bundle up. Have had my oldest one for 6 months now and it has already paid for itself. I am going to be curious to see how some of the y-tanks I bought hold up (supposedly 5 years!).
LOVE WF salad bar – wish it wasn’t a lot of $$$ though.

January 4, 2010 at 4:34 pmYour handstands are so impressive. You have to hold them long enough for someone to take a picture!
I know that lululemons are crazy expensive, but I LOVE LOVE LOVE mine. I have 2 pairs of pants (long and crop) and a tank top which I wear more than any other item of clothing. Totally worth the splurge in my book.

January 4, 2010 at 4:40 pmI’m jealous of your handstand skills. I haven’t yet perfected the wall stand.

January 4, 2010 at 5:48 pmI just have to tell you I find you so incredibly inspiring. I am a few years older than you but you have given me the motivation to pursue the life I want- yoga, writing, moving to California, working at a winery… They are all things I have dreamt of but seeing you do them gives me the kick in the pants that I need- to know it is all possible. Kombucha is 3.49 here in Illinois, so about in the mid range I guess.
Hope you have a nice walk!

January 4, 2010 at 6:26 pmYeah I agree with Jess…but I don’t see it happening anytime soon. I have to “get my head out of the clouds I suppose”.
Funny about the “why not be happy thing” – I’ve been so stressed and down and just negative and anxious allll day – and never know why really…and I thought “Why?” Just why? and “Why not just spin it around and completely think the opposite?” We have control of our minds and only us. But much easier said than done.
I like your timer idea Jenna. Hmmm….

January 5, 2010 at 5:55 amKombucha is $2.29 at the Good Foods Co-Op in Lexington, KY–so take that Florida/California š
Point 1 Kentucky for cheap organics, point 1,000 California/Florida for the weather, minus 1 for the expensive organics.

January 5, 2010 at 10:54 amHey Jenna,
I have a question for you about Yoga. I am a runner and work out at the gym, ellipictical and weights, and I’ve tried Yoga a handful of times but never really committed to a practice. Did you love yoga the first time you tried it, or did you have to do it for a while before you really got in to it? Thanks girl! š
jenna
January 5, 2010 at 11:11 amJesse,
Honestly I loved it from the first moment I tried it. Its so calming to me. I danced for years and yoga seemed like such a natural thing for my body to do. Plus, it feels so good. I’ve never really loved the gym or working out but, on my mat, everything is right. š

January 5, 2010 at 2:32 pmI’d like to post a follow up to my original Kombucha making blog entry:
http://anaustinhomestead.blogspot.com/2010/01/follow-up-on-my-kombucha-making.html
It’s easy to do, super delicious, and an interesting conversation piece sitting on your counter. You have to be relatively sanitary, but it’s been brewed for thousands of years so it can’t be THAT finnicky!
