(I’m not sure where I was going with that)
I’m just a really happy person today. I mean, why not? The sun is shining! Got my butt kicked again this morning at yoga. Lots of side planks and handstands. I think I prefer standing on my hands than on my feet?
My studio sells lululemon. Haven’t broke yet but eyeing that blue remix hoodie. Why oh why??!
After yoga I hit up Whole Foods since I was in the area (note the rationalization of being “in the area”). Got a few essentials and lunch, too.
Big salad with roasted veggies, bell peppers, mushrooms, olives, baked tofu, kidney beans and hummus. Missed the hot sauce but drank a Kombucha so I was happy. Kombucha is the ONLY thing that is cheaper in California. They’re $2.99 at Whole Foods here and $4.99 at the health food store in Tampa. Hot dang! My addiction may survive!
I’m setting the timer and writing for an hour and fifteen minutes now before going on a walk and meeting Kelly for tea.
bye!

Wow that was a pretty good price and looks delicious!
You are right – we should be happy!! All the time!!!
My Whole Foods has sirracha, Bragg’s, Parma and all sorts of other goodies in the eating area by the forks, napkins, etc. I always drown my hot bar/salad before I leave
Have you ever considered making your own Kombucha? All you need is one of those home brew pots – vessel. Here’s a blogger that is experimenting with making her own:

The handstand pic is truly a happy picture! It made me smile when I saw it
Love the handstand! My goal this year is to learn how to do that
Jealous of the whole foods salad (and kombucha), I might have to be “in the area” of one tomorrow
oh my, that salad is making my mouth water. I lived right around the corner from Whole Foods when I lived at college, and ate from their salad bar a few times a week! Now the closest Whole Foods is 30 minutes away
Other grocery store salad bars PALE in comparison.
Also…”I’m just a really happy person today. I mean, why not? The sun is shining!” <—that right there is why I truly love following your blog. I tend to become a "glass is half empty" person (yes, I admit it :X) unless my circumstances are 100% perfect. And, obviously, life is never perfect! So thanks for the inspiration, girl =) xoxo

“handstands are for lovers” seems like kind of a risky gambit
I love WF salad bar…SO yummy! I love the pic of you doing the handstand
Made me miss my gymnastics days back when I was shorter!
One of my 2010 Goals: To do be able to do a handstand. Or at least be very close by the end of the year!
I can’t figure out why my Whole Foods doesn’t carry kombucha? Such a mystery! I really want to try one!!
Your salad looks amazing!! Yea for yoga!
I love lululemon, and its a problem. I may go broke buying their uber comfy yoga pants! I love Kombucha too, but its so expensive in MA and not as tasty as the band I used to buy in Canada!
Impressive handstand. How long have you practiced yoga? I am also struggling with gym vs yoga. I can’t stand treamdills/ellipticals etc but love weight lifting and don’t feel that yoga gives me the strength benefits. But it is so good for my mind and soul.
Hoooray for handstand. I did headstand this year and hope to accomplish handstand sometime in the near future!
sounds like a wonderful day so far! I wish I had a whole foods near me…I’ve never been to one. some day
Your salad is making my stomach hurt! I want one!
Impressive handstand by the way.
Impressive handstand!! How long did it take you to reach the point of being able to do that?
Whole Foods salads are such a treat!
I’ve never tried a Kombucha, and if they’re $4.99 at my local store, I probably won’t. Wouldn’t want to get addicted to something so absolutely ridiculous.
Woah! We found kabocha for $0.79 a pound! $4.99?
I used to do headstands all around my house when I was little
That salad looks glorious!!!!!! I once hit Kombucha gold on a 2 for 4 sale. I cried.
Nice handstand! I was into gymnastics as a kid and its something I would really like to integrate back into my life.
Oh man, Kombucha for $2.99 – can I move in next door??
I have never had a Kombucha….sounds like I’m missing out! Lunch looks AMAZING!
Diana
That pic made me smile : ) I have a lululemon remix hoodie…. sooo worth the splurge!
So jealous you can do a handstand! I’m definitely going to have to work towards that this year.
WF was one of the biggest things i was looking forward to coming home to! i love that hot bar.
did you know it’s pretty easy to make your own kombucha? my mother is growing right now
you just need one bottle of plain kombucha to get started.

your handstand is soo awesome!!!
I have just fallen in love with kombucha! i love the grape!
Ohh and lululemon is soo worth the price. those groove pants do wonders for your hinny! I would recommend investing in the pants before the jacket!
I admire your positive attitude! and how did you start learning to do a balanced handstand? I cannot do it without wall support behind me or something to keep my legs up!
Morgan,
Well, I’ve always been really really afraid of handstands for some reason. I can do headstand no problem, but for some reason handstands just totally freaked me out so I never even tried in all the eight years I’ve been practicing. Then, one day randomly I decided that I was just going to try and the worst thing that would happy would be that I face plant on my mat. And so I kicked up…and it worked! It takes a lot of core and upper body strength!!
Jenna – I now own two LL hoodies and love them both! They are keeping me so warm this winter and the giant hood is great when I really need to bundle up. Have had my oldest one for 6 months now and it has already paid for itself. I am going to be curious to see how some of the y-tanks I bought hold up (supposedly 5 years!).
LOVE WF salad bar – wish it wasn’t a lot of $$$ though.
roasted veggies always make a perfect salad combo
Ahhh lululemon. There is a store right near me. I’d love to get something from there but holy expensive Batman!!
Lovely looking salad. I love roasted veggies most of all.
You are the cutest thing ever!!!! You moods are infectious…even though blogging! That must mean you are good at your job, huh?
Your salad sounds delicious!! I wish I had a Whole Foods near me! Have fun on your walk and good luck with your writing!
Hey there,
1. Did I miss something, are you still working for the winery?
2. My local Whole Foods-type market will give you a case discount on Kombucha. It is definitely worth it if you drink them at the pace I do.
Amy,
I am still working part time for the winery but right now, the winery is closed for the holidays!
Your salad looks amazing!
And your smile really is contagious!!!
I have never been able to do handstands =(
AND mani pedis are cheaper – you forgot that! $20 for a mani and pedi in the city. I live in San Fran
I just went to whole foods for the first time last week and I finally got to see what everyone was raving about the hot bar and now I know exactly why!!! It look so good but I didn’t have lots of time so I just got sushi to go but you can bet next time I will be getting that hot bar for sure! Yours looks great
Wish we had a Whole Foods here!
Your handstands are so impressive. You have to hold them long enough for someone to take a picture!
I know that lululemons are crazy expensive, but I LOVE LOVE LOVE mine. I have 2 pairs of pants (long and crop) and a tank top which I wear more than any other item of clothing. Totally worth the splurge in my book.
I’m jealous of your handstand skills. I haven’t yet perfected the wall stand.
I use the in the area excuse for WF all the time. I only get up there about twice a month so I love to use it for my meal that day.
Can not even believe that your head is not even “touching”!! Guess that is why it is called a handstand and not a headstand. You are amazing! XXOO

Yum!!! Love Whole Foods but hate spending the money. Whenever I want something a little fancier then the norm I’ll go there.
I just have to tell you I find you so incredibly inspiring. I am a few years older than you but you have given me the motivation to pursue the life I want- yoga, writing, moving to California, working at a winery… They are all things I have dreamt of but seeing you do them gives me the kick in the pants that I need- to know it is all possible. I have been reading your blog for about 2yrs and you have had such amazing experiences and oppurtunities to do things you so obviously love. Thank you for being a source of inspiration.
You sure can’t be mistaken for a California girl now. You fit in perfectly ; ) Here’s too more yoga & veggies!
Why not be happy?! Love that mentality:)
Kombucha is 3.49 here in Illinois, so about in the mid range I guess.
Hope you have a nice walk!
Yeah I agree with Jess…but I don’t see it happening anytime soon. I have to “get my head out of the clouds I suppose”.
Funny about the “why not be happy thing” – I’ve been so stressed and down and just negative and anxious allll day – and never know why really…and I thought “Why?” Just why? and “Why not just spin it around and completely think the opposite?” We have control of our minds and only us. But much easier said than done.
I like your timer idea Jenna. Hmmm….
Reading this post just put me in a good mood! And I want to do a handstand too!
Hope you had a good afternoon and evening.
I went to whole foods today! I was tempted to stop by the prepared food area but resisted!
Awesome handstand and awesome salad!!!
haha I justify my trips to Whole Foods, too. It’s just so dang expensive! The lunch looks delish!
Gotta love Village Health Market! Even though it’s still overpriced on 20% off days…
You take the best pictures? Did you take that yourself of you doing the handstand?!
I love how dedicated you are to yoga – I can’t wait for the day I can get into a handstand!
I am the luckiest girl in the world. I got the lululemon remix hoodie for xmas. Let me tell you, I have not taken it off. I got it in red. It has saved me from a very very harsh, windy, cold winter. It will be a very worthwhile purchase
You are so strong! Get on with your handstanding self.
Yummy salad! Handstands are fUNNN.
Kombucha is $2.29 at the Good Foods Co-Op in Lexington, KY–so take that Florida/California
Point 1 Kentucky for cheap organics, point 1,000 California/Florida for the weather, minus 1 for the expensive organics.
Ugh: that’s KY 1/Sun-Belt 999.
Peace
At first I thought this said, “Husbands are for lovers…”
Hey Jenna,
I have a question for you about Yoga. I am a runner and work out at the gym, ellipictical and weights, and I’ve tried Yoga a handful of times but never really committed to a practice. Did you love yoga the first time you tried it, or did you have to do it for a while before you really got in to it? Thanks girl!
Jesse,
Honestly I loved it from the first moment I tried it. Its so calming to me. I danced for years and yoga seemed like such a natural thing for my body to do. Plus, it feels so good. I’ve never really loved the gym or working out but, on my mat, everything is right.
I’d like to post a follow up to my original Kombucha making blog entry:
http://anaustinhomestead.blogspot.com/2010/01/follow-up-on-my-kombucha-making.html
It’s easy to do, super delicious, and an interesting conversation piece sitting on your counter. You have to be relatively sanitary, but it’s been brewed for thousands of years so it can’t be THAT finnicky!
