Well, after 11 hours of sleep I’m a whole new woman. I was really hoping to wake up and see a blanket of snow out my window but alas, it appears to be a cold sunny day. I guess I’m going to have to go make the trip to the mountains to see the snow of my dreams!
I made a very large and delicious pancake for breakfast:

I topped my masterpiece with almond butter, banana and Kodiak Cakes berry syrup, which was a very delicious confection indeed.

I’m off to the gym right now then running errands and basically pulling my life back together….I feel so behind!
Happy Monday!

When was the last time you saw snow in person? I’m only asking because my boss is from Florida and said that he didn’t see snow in person until he was in college. He didn’t even know how to make a snowman – too funny! Being from Chicago, we get a ton of snow each year. Although it’s very pretty to look at during the Christmas season, I can definitely live without it the rest of the year
It makes driving terrible!
OMG the pancake looks SO perfect I almost wouldn’t eat it. Key word: ALMOST
That pancake looks great. I always get cravings for pancakes yet I don’t eat them nearly enough.
Hey Jenna,
What are you going to do at the gym?
Yum! pancakes sound like a great way to start the week. Happy monday!
Your pancake made me go NOM NOM NOM out loud – it looks super delish!
Pancakes are always a great way to the start the week! Have fabulous, sunny day!
Those look SO good! Enjoy your workout!
Eleven hours of sleep sounds glorious!!
Happy Monday to you! It’s a snowy day here in WI – just come here
I jsut read that a big winter storm is going to hit California in the next day or so. Don’t know if it’ll be where you are, though. Stay warm!!
Mmm, those kodiak pancakes and acroutements look delicious! i’m not a big pancake fan, but these might change my mind. Are pancake and waffle mix the same thing? Or are the ingredients different in some way?
No snow in NYC, but it sure is cold! Finally feels like Christmas…
Sounds like you had an amazing weekend! And those pancakes look fantastic!
Have a great Monday – hope it gives you a chance to pull things together!
Aaaah, 11 hours sounds like heaven! I’m lucky if I get 7 any more these days!
Pancakes look scrumptious!
Yum, a big pancake breakfast is perfect for a chilly morning. My waffles definitely warmed me up before heading out to face the snow.
Those looks so good! I have to try to find the Kodiak mix becuase I just bought a waffle maker and I’m on the hunt for the perfect waffle mix (or recipe, I guess). I just read your last post and I just have to say…I’ve been there with the tequila. Man oh man, have I been there
great looking pancake! The berry syrup looks awesome!
Yay, pancakes!
Seems to be the theme this week..
that’s the worst feeling – coming off a weekend feeling like you’re behind. Hope you catch up soon!
Trust me, we have a lot of snow in PA right now– it ain’t that grande
Looks like a good start to a good week. Don’t fret about feeling behind– you deserved a crazy, fun-filled escape from reality! Have a great day!
I used to love snow as a child- now its kinda overrated with being in school an all!
There is nothing like a good nights rest that gets you going. Good luck with catching up with work!
I have searched and searched for that Kodiak mix. I’ll just have to order some!
Mmm. That breakfast looks amazing. I know that feeling – a few days away and you feel like you’ve completely lost touch with life!
Looks like iHop but so much more healthier
I love the nights when I just sleep and sleep! So amazing to wake up and feel like a new person!
That looks darn good!
11 hours sleep….I’m so jealous! it’s really hard for me to get more than 8 hours sleep now !
Sleep is the most healing thing. I could use some right now!

Where do you buy the Kodiak brand products? I don’t ever see them in any of the markets around here..
the snow blew over to prescott az….we are getting a pretty blanket of snow right now!
So sorry your first snow has been delayed! I remember the first time I saw it snowing when I moved here – it was so strange to watch snow coming down and not be at a ski destination!
I’m sure you’ll get at least one day of the wake up with snow outside your window. It always looks so pretty.
I haven’t had berry syrup in so long! That looks incredible!
Glad to hear that you are feeling better
Pancakes and banana – a great way to start the day!
We’re getting a huge dump of snow here in Reno today! It snowed all last night and hasn’t stopped yet…all schools, including the university, are closed! It’s super fun…make sure you stock up on the snow-day necessities (tea, hot chocolate, warm socks, boots, hat, waterproof coat, etc.) for when it hits the Bay!
I love bananas on pancakes! I’m quite impressed with your 11 hours of sleep!
Your pancakes are making me HUNGRY!

Hi Jenna,
I’ve been an avid reader of your blog since I decided to go mainly raw and vegan. I was snooping through some older posts and saw that you lived in Vero Beach! I grew up there as well and went to St. Edward’s for middle school and a year of high school. I live in NYC now, but my parents are still there and I was wondering if you know of any good vegan or raw places to eat for when I go home for the holidays. Thanks so much and you’re doing a wonderful job!
Kate
You can share some of my snowww! Haha Jenna, you’re so sweet… you inspired me to apply to schools across the country- *crossing fingers* Cali here I come???
Mmm, I haven’t had pancakes in a while…yum. That looks so good!
What a fun weekend! You derserved it!!! Welcome back!
I need 11 hours of sleep! Maybe I’ll have a giant pancake first though!
Sometimes, after a crazy weekend, a bulk amount of sleep is what the body needs to get things back in order again. Oh, and awesome giant pancakes.
sounds like you had a fabulous weekend with friends!
That pancake looks awesome. I love the photo so much!!
Mmm that looks tasty! I think I need 11 hours of sleep after my 2 hours of sleep last night thanks to paper writing!
Yum! Do you buy your Kodiak mix in the store or online? I definitely want to try them out!
Mary,
Usually I buy it at my grocery store (whole foods has it, too)!
Hope you’re having a great night and you enjoyed your day of catching up!
Cold and sunny days are the worst tease aren’t they?
Jenna, I grew up right outside San Francisco so I have been envying your life since the moment you announced you were moving to CA! I REALLY really think you would love a weekend in the mountains, convince your buddies to go with you to Tahoe! It sounds cliched, but seriously, skiing (and hiking in the summer) Lake Tahoe is one of my fondest memories from childhood and I promise you would love the laid back vibe going on there. Plus, hello, SNOW!!! I would give an arm and a leg to be within driving distance of Heavenly. GO NOW!
My favorite tradition is decorating the tree- we turn on some music, make some snacks and have some drinks and just make a whole night of it. I love going through all our ornaments! I need some soup right now in a big way- I live in Arcata just a few hours north of you and I’m feeling the chill here!

Every year my family and I go to a family owned Christmas Tree farm to cut down our tree. We always go the day after Thankgiving and it has now been 28 years (of my life at least). I know many families have this tradition but we add a little more. We forget about our usual health mindedness and bring donuts and peanut butter, (a food combo from my great grandfather…you have to try it. I like it on plain donuts), along with hot chocolate and of course coffee. No matter how cold, we lay out blankets and pass the snacks around while enjoying laughs and conversation. No chores, no distractions, just famliy and a good excuse to eat lots of carbs. – Stacy
