Hello!
First off, Bikram was faaaaantastic this morning.
I sweat like I haven’t sweat since I did Bikram in Paris (pre-blog). Seriously. After the first 10 minutes I was totally dripping and by the end, I looked like I had gone swimming. No kidding—the room was 104 degrees this morning! I LOVED it! And, for the first time in my six years of practicing Bikram, I wore my heart rate monitor as an experiment to see just how many calories I was actually burning—-505! Crazy, huh?! Nothing like sweating out your dinner the night before. I also found out that I have 14 classes left in my package, so if I wasn’t motivated to start going more often before, now I really am! It sort of stinks that the only class I can make a week is on Sunday mornings so I have to choose between church or yoga, but I think I’m going to start going to yoga more often. My muscles need it and I say plenty of prayin’ while I’m there! 🙂
Afterwards I immediately devoured an apple that I had in my purse—
And then raced home to shower and meet Sarah for lunch at Whole Foods. Folks, I officially ate MORE food at the hot bar than I have EVER eaten there before. I think my box weighed about 7 lbs (seriously) and even Sarah laughed at me. But I just couldn’t help it! I was shaking from hunger and everything looked sooooo amazing
My layers and layers and layers of Whole Food goodness included:
- Stir fried broccoli with chilies
- shredded cabbage salad
- hummus
- tabbouli
- black bean and corn salad
- channa masala !
- 3 big sweet plantains
- greek salad mix
I had this to drink—
Even after finishing all that food, I still felt like I could eat more. I am a maniac! I had a little piece of dark chocolate once I came home to “settle my tummy” 😉
I’m off to work more on the e-cookbook! See you tonight!
ps—this is a pretty random side note, but WHERE is everyone finding their Naturally More pb??!! I can’t find any here for the life of me and have been reading about it on blogs for months. Where art thou??

March 29, 2009 at 11:52 amHi Jenna!
I stumbled across your blog, and it looks super interesting! I am also a big fan of Bikram Yoga – just got back into it very recently. I’m now going every Monday morning at 6:30am, and I find that it starts off my week on an amazingly flexible foot 😉
That’s also crazy about the heart rate monitor…I really want to get one almost JUST for that (I’m just so curious as to exactly HOW much it’s burning!!!).

My g-parents are STILL not here–their flight was delayed. I could have actually spent the hours I wanted to at WF. Dangit! Anyway, it was fun to have lunch out. We should do it again soon. That is a lovely photo of you, by the way!

March 29, 2009 at 12:31 pmOh man, the whole foods salad bar is so good! I have to watch how much I put in, though, because it can end up costing just as much as a nice dinner out on the town! But it’s ohhh so worth it!

March 29, 2009 at 12:45 pmHi Jenna, what exactly is Bikram yoga? As in, how is it different than the other yoga types (other than the fact that it is in a hot room)? I am completely ignorant when it comes to everything Yoga!
jenna
March 29, 2009 at 12:57 pmMoran,
Bikram yoga is a special type of yoga where we practice a set of 26 postures in a room that is heated from 101-104 degrees. Every posture is repeated twice and the class length is 90 minutes.

March 29, 2009 at 1:15 pmThat yoga sounds so intense. I can see why people like it though, because it must be such an amazing feeling for your body. Maybe sometime I’ll try it… in the very, very distant future. 🙂

March 29, 2009 at 1:34 pmThat lunch looks like a yummy mix of flavors! The only thing I hate about pay-by-weight food bars is that some of the typically less expensive foods are actually MORE expensive because they weigh more (e.g. heavier beans & broccoli vs. lighter spinach & mushrooms. If WH had a set price for each container conatiner size (no matter how much it weighed), it’d be food bar heaven!

March 29, 2009 at 1:44 pmhahaha, if you’re going to eat your weight in food, might as well do it at the wf bar!! can’t think of a better use 🙂

March 29, 2009 at 2:00 pmHey Jenna! I think I eat my body weight in whole foods bar too haha…too many choices!
By the way I get my naturally more peanut butter at publix. I have been eating for a while now and I LOVE it!
At my publix its on the top shelf kind of tucked away…so I would look closely next time at publix…I am surprised they don’t have it at GreenWise hmmm.
Happy Hunting! 🙂

March 29, 2009 at 2:21 pmMmm, that hot bar loot looks amazing! I will have to pick some up next time I’m there. Sometimes I hate when I’m shaking hungry but other times I love it because that’s when my tastebuds enjoy the food the most =)

I love your blog too and getting ideas of good eating…keep it coming…can’t wait to see the ecookbook…and a great idea for fundraising. My husband and I are moving to Africa to do missions and are also raising support for that..this might be a great idea for me to do within my circle.

March 29, 2009 at 2:39 pmYou inspired me to try star fruit! Jon and I just finished splitting one. It tasted a little funky at first, but we both agreed that it got better as we kept eating. And….by far the CUTEST fruit I have ever eaten! Thanks for the inspiration, Jenna 🙂

March 29, 2009 at 2:58 pmI’ve seen it at Super Target & Albertsons (I’m in Clearwater!).

March 29, 2009 at 3:39 pmYou can get Naturally More PB at Wal-mart. The only thing I don’t like about it is that the flaxseeds are whole.
Megan
March 29, 2009 at 5:01 pmOMG whole foods!!! I love WF hot bar!! Everything there looks so delicious! I’m glad I don’t have a car on campus/the closest Whole Foods is five miles away so I only go there every once in a while..

Dont worry about how much you are eating, you are wokring harder than you have done before, with running and yoga. Ur metabolism is on a high, so it is ok to eat: it’s going to keep your energy up and let you get more mileage into your runs.

March 29, 2009 at 6:29 pmI find Naturally More at our grocery stores – but also at Walmart, of all places! I am obsessed with it!
Good luck!

March 30, 2009 at 2:21 pmI buy my Naturally More Peanut Butter at Wal-mart. It runs less than $3 a jar there and I love the flax seeds in it. It’s my favorite on whole wheat english muffins in the morning with my hot tea.
