Hey guys!
I’m currently blogging in my car, in the parking lot of the huge convention center where Green Fest is being held! Exciting! Because of that though, I have to make this quick so I can get my butt in there.
This morning I pulled my life together and headed to the gym for lunges, crunches and spinning. I felt like I was sweating out wine? The story of my life. 😉 Afterward, I ate this perfectly ripe and delicious pear:
Dude…..local california produce never fails to impress me. It’s like I’ve never tasted a real pear before or something. SO GOOD!
Lunch was leftover split pea soup + roasted butternut squash 🙂
And then I hightailed it to SF! No matter what, I always get freaked out driving on these hilly, narrow streets. Thank God Adam let me “borrow” (err I’ve actually had it for like 2 weeks now…oops) the gps. I’d be way lost without it.
And here we are!
I have NO idea what to expect…this should be very interesting! Then, dinner with Lindsay and Amber at The Plant Cafe and picking up my mom at 8:45. So excited!
Have a wonderful Friday!

November 13, 2009 at 2:50 pmYes, CA has the best produce!! It’s amazing the difference…the first time I had some of my CSA lettuce, I was floored by the taste…who knew lettuce actually was GOOD? Usually you put the good stuff on top 😉
Have fun tonight! I love love San Fran.

November 13, 2009 at 3:44 pmBlogging about healthy living in your car, while waiting outside a convention center for an environmentally conscious festival. You sure are dedicated to a healthier and happier world! Kudos.
Ugh, how I miss CA produce. I bought some cheap oranges from a Brooklyn bodega once, and they were in such bad shape they looked as though they had leprosy.

November 13, 2009 at 5:23 pmI went to the Green fest in DC last year and loved it. There were a ton of organic food companies at the one last year, which I appreciated. I hope you had a great time!

November 13, 2009 at 6:10 pmQuestion for you: I see that you eat lots of vegetarian-friendly meals when your make your meals at home, but do eat meat when you go out. Is there any reason for this? I do this too, but it’s because I have a hard time making meat/buying meat for one person. Just curious!
jenna
November 13, 2009 at 9:00 pmLaura,
No real reason at all! Meat is expensive and I love getting creative with veggies so that’s probably it. That split pea soup definitely wasn’t vegetarian though…I used two smoked ham hocks! 😉
Morgan,
hahahha no i really don’t own any furniture yet….i like to call it “getting grounded”. 😉

November 13, 2009 at 8:21 pmHey Jenna, let me ask you something, did you take that picture of your lunch on the floor at your house or is that your table. I only ask because I always take pics of my food on the floor with the light coming in from my kitchen since it’s the best light in the house and all my friends think it’s weird/gross to put my food on the floor (yes it’s on plates) to take my blog pics.

November 13, 2009 at 9:23 pmHave a good weekend! As a side note – I am a Californian, born and raised, but may be moving for grad school in year and you are scaring me about the produce situation…. I actually grew up on a farm (almond orchards) and I never even realized that our produce is so great because it’s all I’ve ever had!

December 3, 2009 at 4:46 pmHey Jenna,
I’ve been reading your site for a little while right now and I love your food philosophy. Just curious, do you peel your butternut squash before you roast it? It looks peeled in your picture and I was just wondering how you do it. I tried and it was ridiculously hard!
