Well, I fell asleep at 9:45 last night while reading this book and woke up at 7:50 so what does that make me? I guess I just really needed that ten hours of sleep. I feel pretty much like a new person today and am really glad I busted my butt to get all that stuff done yesterday. So nice to wake up in a totally clean apartment while wearing clean pajamas.
I feel even more proud of myself that I finally finished putting together my new bedside table (from IKEA). It’s been sitting in bits and pieces on my living room floor now for over a MONTH! The boyfriend started putting it together then things got really busy so I just decided to take matters into my own hands. It looks really good and you would never guess that one drawer is in backwards.
Don’t worry about that. It still is fully functional.
Breakfast was overnight oats:

I dream of Lasik surgery, too!!
How was the book? super cute outfit!
the book is really good! I love that author and have read pretty much all of his books…favorite being Midwives!
You’re even more blind than me! I didn’t think it was possible!
Lasik would be so awesome. That is one my “some day” to do list…
I’ve totally done the same thing when putting together my own furniture! Love your sunflowers.
Oh Ikea furniture, how I love that it’s so easy to do things like put drawers in backwards (something I’ve done on numerous occasions). I’ve actually got that exact table- it’s perfect for cramming tons of books inside for bedtime reading
I’m practically blind too, it’s all good
the bedside table is totally something i would do, and leave the way it is. awesome!
i think every piece of furniture i put together myself has some sort of weird quirk. they are all originals!
there is nothing like a clean house!
and sleeping til 8!!!
I love the lamp with the pink shade. Very cute!
10 hours of sleep sounds amazing! Never doubt that restorative powers of slumber. I sound like a douche by calling it “slumber”, but there you go!
I have -6 perscription in both eyes too! When I wear my glasses people say, “wow those are thick”, and I say, “yes I am blind.” haha! Thank goodness for contacts!
Yikes, I have -8 in one eye and -10 in the other. But I guess sunglasses are the upside of yearly appointments.
I am -7 in both
I hear ya sister!
Overnight oats. I must make those soon. And not to be a total creeper but I think I have the same nail polish that you have on your nightstand! Love that color
I’m just as blind as you! I’ve always been told that there’s no point in me getting lasik since I would still have to rock contacts/glasses – just lower prescriptions.
Cute outfit
My SIL had Lasic when it was very new! She loved it, she used to have to wear the very thick glasses! And both of my sisters had it done a few years ago too and just love it! I may do it in a few years as my eyes get worse! They are not too bad so far! I just hate having to wear glasses every day! And the clip on sunglasses just make me look old! Have a great day Jenna!
That’s such a great picture of you! I need to go to an eye exam. Love the table from Ikea. I just love Ikea, period.
-8.5 in both eyes… I feel your pain!
Love waking up to a clean house!
I was legally blind! It was so ridiculous. I remember being afraid of doing anything that might potentially cause one of my contacts to fall out (swimming, etc.) So I saved up and got Lasik and it was seriously the best decision I ever made! I highly recommend it when you’re feeling up for it!
I am annoyed with myself that I don’t understand why a visit to the eye doctor means you can wear sunglasses inside?
I have only been to the eye doc once, 8 years ago, when my eyes needed a little help reading when I got tired. I still have those glasses, but I rarely need them now.
In other news, will I be seeing you in August or not?! I hope hope hope so! If not you might find a surprise guest at your door one day.
Hahaha because they dilate your eyes and you need to wear shades to see cause your so sensitive to light!
Emailing you today about August…
I wondered, too! Is it those dilating drops? I only JUST had them for the first time… sticky!
fabulous outfit! rock it girl! ps. i’m glad so many other people are blind too! now, i dont feel so alone
I always told myself I’d get Lasik when I’m thirty… now I’m 33… the clock is ticking
I just made four different trips to the eye doctor to get contacts. I’m so blind that up to this point the only contacts I could wear were the hard lenses. I told my doctor I wanted to try soft and it took a while to find a prescription that probably is as good as it’s gonna get. I don’t know exactly what they are, but with one near-sighted eye, one far-sighted eye, a lazy eye, and AWFUL astigmatism, my vision is a mess.
Wahoo for the “blind as a bat” peeps! -7 (with astigmatism, oh and the start of cataracts) up in here…and last night I was driving and having trouble reading the street signs and I was really hoping my eyes were just tired or I need a fresh pair of contacts but I don’t want my eyes to get any worse! I need my eyes to stay stable so I can get LASIK when I can save up the $$$, but the doctors won’t do it if your eyes are still changing/worsening! Blahhh….
Those flowers look so pretty. I love sunflowers!
Oh, shoot, girl! Lookin’ like an Olsen-twin-esque fashionista! Work it
Haha…about half of the furniture in our house is put together incorrectly. I’m sure one day I’m going to throw my keys on our dresser and it’s just going to collapse.
um, your outfit is ADORABLE and i love that you’re showing us more shots of you lately!
I’m -4.5 . . . that must be pretty bad, too, huh? One of my relatives got Lasik and loved it.
This is SO funny! I have the exact same bedside table from IKEA and…I put it together myself as well. And yes, I too was very proud;)

HA! I have you beat in myopia! I wear a -6.5 in both eyes. I hear you on the whole Lasik thing but I’m totally afraid of it. Eek! The thought of eye surgery gives me the heeby geebies.
Thanks for the book recommendation! When’s the next “book club” post?
And I totally recommend Lasik…definitely changed my life for the better!
Must have been that extremely busy day you had yesterday.
Must have felt good to wake up after 10 hrs. of sleep.
Have a great day:)
Have you read “Same Kind of Different As Me” yet? It is an amazing book – at points incredibly heartwarming, and at other points incredibly heartbreaking.
Those sunflowers are gorgeous!
Those sunflowers are gorgeous!
Great job on putting your nightstand together! I’d have never known a drawer was in backwards!
That’s awesome that you got so much sleep last night! I wish I could sleep that much!!!
LOVE the sunflowers in the glass container–so pretty and fresh.
I’m considered legally blind without correction and my contacts always drive me nuts. I’m having LASIK in August and I’m sooooo excited!
I love that book. I picked it up on a whim and fell in love with it and finished it in 3 days while on bed rest sick. I’m now reading Midwives which has me equally entranced.
As long as you don’t wear your sunglasses at night you are fine
every time I buy/make something from IKEA some part ends up being wrong, upside down, missing, backqwards… lol, I’m glad to see it’s not just me.
What brand of oatmeal do you use for your overnight oats? I use some organic irish oats and trust me it comes out horrible every time I try to do the overnight mix. And I have tried several different measurements for the liquid/siggi’s yogurt to oats ratio- NO luck- Yours look so good so i am hoping that your brand is one i can find in syracuse, ny.
I wear a -8!!! You are my blind buddy!
Jenna – I own and adore my latte bowls! How many do you have?
I have four I think—got ‘em from anthropologie a while back!
i wear -5.75. glad to know someone else is as blind as i am:)
Last time I bought an assemble-it-yourself dresser, I ended up with one drawer in backwards, too! Sigh.
read that book a few weeks ago and loved it–couldn’t put it down!! any of his books are great!
Where did you get your bedside lamp? Love it!
Also, I’m a fan of your choice of sunflowers. My neighbors are growing some huge ones in their front yard right now and its all I can do not to cut some off and run home with them to decorate my kitchen with!
oh gosh, I’ve had that thing forever!!! Since middle school probably…no idea where its original home was!
Jenna,
I just got PRK (eye surgery) a year ago and LOVE IT! I was -3.25, so not as bad, but now I’m 20/15…tempting aint it!

I got Lasik about 2 years ago. BEST thing I ever did. It sucks for the first day, but after that it is AMAZING. Highly recommend it. I was totally blind . . . couldn’t even see the big E on the chart without my contacts in, now I have better than 20/20
