Ahhh dinner was SOOO good!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I had SO much fun with Helen (my roomie), Caitlin and Meghann! When we first got there we hung out at the bar for awhile and chatted. I got a cosmo—it matched my dress!—but I didn’t take a picture because no matter how hard I try, drink pictures just don’t turn up right. They always have a strange glares I can’t get rid of.
My friends at Roy’s also brought out these snackies for us:
These are blue cheese tortillinis and curried crab raviolis. I had one of each. YUM!
When we finally decided to sit down around 8:00 we were totally surprised because they decorated the table all up with tons of streamers and special flowers for me! It was so pretty! Here’s Helen and I:
And then they brought out MORE appetizers!!! We were in heaven 🙂
Kung Pao Calamari!!! (My favorite!!)
Island Poke (spicy tuna)
Lobster Raviolis!
My friends at Roy’s were SO sweet to bring us out all this party food! Very much appreciated….we loved everything! Here was my appetizer plate:
I got my favorite entree of all time: Prosciutto wrapped Ono.
I barely ate half. I was so stuffed from all the free apps! I brought the rest home for lunch tomorrow though, so I’m excited!
Roy’s even made me special menus with a photo of a chef on them saying “good luck Jenna!”— SO cute…they wrapped them up for me so I got to take them home.
I had fun.
And then they brought us some surprise desserts!
Chocolate souffle cake, CHOCOLATE PEANUT BUTTER PIE (topped with a glob of peanut butter!!), and pineapple upside down cake.
I really didn’t eat much of the chocolate souffle cake but I ate my heart out of the other two. There’s nothing like Roy’s desserts. Nothing. Totally and completely worth every single calorie and more.
As to our beverages—–we all had fun drinks at the bar (I had a cosmo) and then we ordered a bottle of Pinot Noir at dinner. I had two full glasses and then Caitlin and Helen gave me the remainders of THEIR glasses because I was the only one not driving. I sipped at their wine but didn’t drink it all. Just to be safe let’s call it even and say I had 2 1/2 glasses of wine + a cosmo. A good splurge indeedy. 🙂
And now……………………..
Good news! No stress fractures or funky things—-just shin splints. I’m SO relieved and thankful! My doctor said that he thinks I can get through this, I just need to massage my shin after every run and be sure to stretch pre and post run. And, of course, if it starts to swell or bruise (signs of stress fractures) I need to stop. So tiger balm it is! At least now I KNOW for a fact that it is just shin splints and I CAN work through this. I just have to keep at it. I was so worried that if it wasn’t a fracture, it was a tear, and that would have been terrible as well.
The doctor took foreverrrrr though and I didn’t even get to see him until about an hour past my appointment time (don’t ya hate that?!). I ate my snack while I waited:
And I was going to run around the lake afterwards but when I parked I realized I didn’t have a dime to pay the meter and I certainly cannot afford a ticket right now, so I decided to just come home. I think a rest day was necessary though because all day I’ve just felt SO pooped. I didn’t sleep well last night and just felt the burn all day. I’ll run tomorrow though!
And on the WAY to the doctor’s office I stopped at the mall to use my “free starbucks drink card” that I got last week. I definitely needed a pick-me-up! I ordered a tall nonfat latte but they definitely gave me a grande. Oh well. It was yummy. And free.
It must have been my day because I walked into Anthro to “browse” (yeah right) and saw a lovely little pink Velvet dress on sale from $128 to $29.99!!!!!!! I’m a firm believer in “party dresses” and knew I just HAD to have this for dinner tonight! Yay!
And now, Helen and I are parked on our super comfy couch (which the salvation army is picking up in the morning!) watching Friends dvds. I’m going to hit the sack soon. See you in the morning!
