Behind The Butter

Lately

Lately…

I am absolutely loving everything about Everlane, an online shop carrying beautiful basic wardrobe staples at fair prices ($15 for super soft and comfy basic t-shirts that you’ll live in!). The BEST part though is that for each piece, they give you information on the factory it was produced in and guarantee fair labor. I just love that. And those new loafers? Swoon.

I am cooking exclusively this week out of David Lebowitz’s new book, My Paris Kitchen. So far, I’ve made the French-style pot pie (topped with mashed potatoes!), the caramel pork ribs, the celery root puree and the raw vegetable slaw, which I am currently noshing on right now as I type. Tonight I’m making his stuffed vegetable recipe and tomorrow I’m doing his version of chicken under a brick. It’s the best cookbook I’ve cooked out of in awhile and is just so gorgeous. Highly recommend!

I’m trying to commit to doing two yoga classes (podcasts or power classes on the weekends) a week and some short barre3 videos during naptime. It really improves my whole day when I can squeeze in a short workout…even just 20 minutes is a game changer!

I’m mourning my grandpa, who passed away a few days ago. Thank you all for your sweet comments regarding that! I am thankful that his passing was peaceful and he was surrounded by his wife and daughters. I’m happy my brother will have a friend up in heaven now!

I am so excited our fall tv shows are back on! We are super addicted to Parenthood, Homeland, Modern Family and New Girl. What about you?

I am loving weekly farmer’s market trips, MOPS meetings every other Tuesday, Waldorf baby class every Monday and early evening stroller walks with Grayson. I truly can’t believe he will be five months old next week!

I am looking forward to a family trip to Yosemite at the end of the month! We’ve rented a little cabin for the weekend and can’t wait to get away and disconnect.

I am canning hot pepper jelly (above photo!), apple butter and applesauce. Loving fall produce!

HI Jenna! I would love to try some barre3 videos but get so overwhelmed when i go to their site. Can you recommend any videos? I’m a hardcore runner and do yoga. I would love to add barre classes and unfortunately there are no studios near me.

    Thanks!

    Hi! Jenna-
I am enjoying my Temple Spa products (mentioned in your Skincare Faves). They smell so good!!!!
I joined a MOMS Club when my oldest was a few months (she just turned 13) and that club was my lifeline to sanity!!!Advice, support, friendships! I am still friends with many from those early days and we still have a book and a bunco club.
As for TV- love The Good Wife. I wanted to love the new Debra Messing show but it has an identity crisis- comedy or mystery?
Can’t wait to see which French dishes you feature!

Jenna, I’m so sorry to hear about your grandfather passing away. It’s amazing what a huge hole grandparents can leave in our lives when they leave us, isn’t it.

I’m checking out Everlane right now – I love basic clothing staples (not a huge fan of frills). I’d LOVE to know your recipe for hot pepper jelly. I love it.

I love the Barre3 classes! Also, you should definitely add The Mindy Project into your line-up. I watch New Girl as well, but Mindy Project has much wittier writing and better story lines. I believe you can watch from the beginning on Hulu Plus. 🙂

Jenna, you ARE getting back to your old self – in many ways! Look how far you’ve come from 5 months ago…and how much becoming a mommy has caused you to grow and change in such a great way! You are doing it! God has blessed you in all your challenges. You persevered and he’s making you even more beautiful! :o)

Barre3 has been such a god send for me as a mom of a newborn. I have my body back just three months after she was born. I feel strong and energized. I love ever lane too. I just bought some new clothes from LOFT. I’m loving there new Lou & grey line. I love new girl too. I’m also watching minds project, castle and Greys. I’m bee a fan of Greys forever. I even watch reruns while I nurse. 🙂
A random question… What bath tub do you use. Our baby is outgrowing her newborn tub.

We’ve always just bathed Grayson in the big person bath tub…since week one! 🙂 I hold under his head and place a washcloth on his belly to keep him warm. It’s worked well for us.

So sorry to hear about Grandpa, but glad he’s at peace now with your brother.

I’m loving the fall shows being back, too! I’m watching The Voice, Blacklist, Person of Interest, Forever, Parenthood, Blue Bloods and Hawaii Five-0. I’ll be watching Elementary just as soon as it comes back at the end of the month! Can you tell I love procedural dramas? Ha.
