Baby/ Behind The Butter

Lately

Yikes! I realize it’s been way too long since my last post and I apologize about that. We’ve had a couple of crazy weeks — the busiest weeks this little family has seen in a very long time, in fact.

In a nutshell, it all started with my parents coming to visit for a week from West Virginia. During their visit, Adam started having some pretty intense tooth pain. Well, I made him an appointment to see an oral surgeon who promptly told him his wisdom teeth needed to come out and NOW. Like that day. Immediately. That same day Grayson got the stomach flu, which I then got that night. There’s nothing worse than a sick baby…except maybe a sick mama taking care of a sick baby and hubby who just had surgery. Did I mention all this happened the day before Valentine’s Day? My parents flew out the next morning and we recovered slowly. Adam’s mom came out last week for a visit and I was so relieved to have some help. We love where we live but it’s really hard sometimes to live thousands of miles from any family.

Needless to say, our February wasn’t awesome with all the sickness and health stuff. Sorry to be a debbie downer, but I haven’t been online hardly at all because I’ve been so busy trying to take care of my family!

Other things worth noting:

I chopped off all my hair into a short little bob while my parents were in town. I was tired of having it yanked on constantly while nursing and needed something new!

We are gearing up for a big trip to Florida in a few weeks because I’m in one of my best friend’s weddings.

I’ve started my own 40 Days to a Personal Revolution this past week and it’s been exactly what I needed. I’ve done this program a few times now and it’s a wonderful way to start off the new year…or just get a fresh start wherever you are! You can read all about what the 40 days entails through the link I provided, but basically it’s just committing to a daily yoga and meditation practice.

So that’s where I’ve been! Again, I apologize for abandoning this little blog the past few weeks. I love you guys and think of you often! I do try to update my Instagram pretty regularly, so you can always check there if I’m not around here as much.

Your hair is SO cute! So sorry about all the sickness/medical stuff you had to deal with. I know exactly how you feel. My husband had to have his tonsils out immediately due to infection at the beginning of January (we just had our first baby and she was just 5 weeks old). That was SO hard and we are so lucky that my mom came to help for two weeks, considering Kevin couldn’t do anything but take pain meds and lay on the couch. Luckily he is now healthy and back to ‘normal’.
Love your little updates whenever they happen. Family comes first, the blog is the blog and you shouldnt stress to make it priority. Life’s to short to miss the important stuff. ????
Hope your weather is lovely. Charleston had a mini heat wave this weekend. Now we are back to rain and 40’s. darn!

Super cute bob. I did a big chop this past summer and loved it, it’s just so refreshing.

Agreed ~ I’m getting my hair cut this week and I’m going to show my stylist your bob! In particular I love your bangs…..too cute =) Stomach flu has been rampart at my house too, I totally know how you feel. 2 sick kids up all night, every hour on the hour. This mom thing is tough. I have so much more respect for my mom now that I know what she went through in raising me and my sisters!!!

    Okay. Few things.

    1. LOVE your new do!
    2. Grayson is SO, so precious!
    3. I’m so sorry about all the sickness with your family this past month and only hope everyone is feeling up to par fast and all goes wonderfully in FL!
    4. I know it is what it is, but I give you guys and anyone who has children with family living so far away. My husband and I are very fortunate to have both our parents live just twenty minutes from us. We get more help with the ‘babysitting’ when we slip out for date days or nights. We both work from home a decent amount so it’s a must that at least once a week we have to get out. For our sanity. We also switch up the baby’s environment too with dropping her off at one of our parent’s homes if we go out. just to mix it up.
    5. I so badly would LOVE to live in CA. More southern near Mission Viejo,. My entire dad’s side lives out there and I miss it out there so much. Maybe when we retire? 🙂

You look cute, Grayson is happy and healthy and well now, and it was nice to hear from you! I will definitely check out that book. Right now, I’m proud of myself because Hubs and I are doing a 5 mile run in two weeks and I ran 4 MILES training yesterday – the most I’ve run in at least 6 years (I have a 5 year old!).

What are those little blue booties he’s wearing on the slide?? (They look comfy and that they stay on!) and is his hair lightening?? So cute. I still have a little baldy hah
Love his little expression on the slide!! Glad he’s feeling better. A sick baby is no fun especially with a sick mama. Glad you had some family in to help out at what seemed to be a much needed time!!!

I know what you mean about being away from family. I am expecting our first baby and we live in the Bay Area too. Both of our families live out of state. I’m glad my mother in law is retired so she can come visit us a lot and help out.

I love the haircut. I chopped mine off a couple of months ago when our little one was just starting to grab. But really it was because I was SO tired of straight ironing long hair.

Now I keep going shorter! I’m going for a long front and short back a la Jaime Eason (but a little more extreme). Once you go short, you only go shorter! 🙂

I was a bit sick at the idea of family being so far away. (We live in California and my family is in Maine.) As luck would have it, my mom decided to move out right as we found out we were expecting. Surprise! Haha
