Breakfast

Long Awaited

Good morning and happy Tuesday!

This morning is my long awaited “glory walk”. Every six weeks when a new class goes off on their externships, they do the glory walk—-basically everyone in school comes out class and lines up down the “red mile” (the looooong hallway at school). We wear a flower and our named is called on the loudspeaker while we walk down the red mile and all the students and chefs clap for us. Its kinda corny but a tradition! It just baffles me that the year is over when it feels like only yesterday I decided to move over here and do this. My graduation is officially in January and that’s when I do commencement, get a chef jacket with my name on it and………the tall hat! haha 🙂

So, yes, this morning I did put on a little undereye concealer (bless it) and powder. 🙂

For breakie I had overnight oats (1/2 cup oats soaked in 1/2 cup water with chobani, pb, maple syrup, cinnamon and a banana mixed in this morning). Ahhh they were good. Always starts my day out right.

Not sure what my snack will entail yet but I will report back at lunch. Today we are having our beer tasting (Caitlin you should be jealous!). I think we are tasting interesting beers like blueberry, orange blossom and pumpkin. I like that better than Bud Heavy. Who likes Bud Heavy??! It’ll be interesting!

Have a good one!

I’m definitely a beer snob adn only drink the best, which sounds like you will be drinking today.. heaven!

Back in high school we did a senior run. basically on the last day of school for the seniors tehy would have a BBQ in the school courtyard and then a presentation in the auditorium. After the presentation the principal would make an announcement that ‘the class of 2003 would be leaving the buidling’ All of the other class level would come out in the hallways as the seniors literally ran around the school banging on lockers, screaming and sounding blow horns. It was awesome.

Jenna, I remember you commenting the other day about how expensive it is to make overnight oats with greek yogurt. I’ve been enjoying a lot of overnight oats since reading about them on your blog, and I agree that they’re an expensive (though delicious and healthy) habit to feed! A couple times recently, I’ve made them with regular, nonfat plain yogurt ($.67 per 6 oz container Dannon Nonfat Plain vs $1.79 for Fage, and I suppose even less if you buy a large container and portion it out). They had a slightly looser consistency and less tangy flavor than when made with greek yogurt. They were definitely tasty enough to allow me to save a little $$ by keeping the greek yogurt for special treats. The runnier texture worked well for me (I was mixing in a chopped apple), though I’m sure soaking the oats in less water (maybe 1/3 c vs 1/2 c) would thicken them. Just thought I’d pass along the tip!

Meghann- Of course- that would be soooo fun! It’s a cool place- they have a beer list that tells you what style each one is, where it’s brewed, and what rating Beer Advocate gave it. And if you’re indecisive they have beer flights, with five or six sample pours of different beers!
