Dinner

Love Me Some Tuna

Hi guys!

Thanks for all the sweet comments about my new ride 🙂 I really like it…and tomorrow morning at 9:00 I’m going for my first official ride! Don’t worry, I made a new friend at the bike shop today and we are going together for my first time so I don’t, like, freak out when I can’t get my shoes unclipped or something. No big deal. It should be interesting and fun! Remember, also that I am doing this to raise money for cancer research and I have pledged to raise $5,000 by May. If you feel compelled, I would greatly appreciate a donation! I know, I know..you can’t donate less than $20 apparently, but all I need is for 250 people to pledge $20 and then the goal will have been met. Pretty please!!

Anyways, I was pretty much on the go all day and made a big smoothie for a mid afternoon snack.

This bad boy contained 1/2 scoop Jay Robb protein, 1/2 cup unsweetened almond milk, 1/2 banana, 1 T chia seeds, 1 scoop chocolate superfood, 1/2 tsp xanthan gum and ice. So good!
After my shift at the studio, I met my friend for dinner close by. We went to Starks Steakhouse and naturally, I ordered seafood. I really don’t eat much steak (if you haven’t noticed) and typically ALWAYS order seafood when at steakhouses. Is that weird? Sometimes I find that steakhouses actually have the BEST seafood dishes! Well, they do in Florida anyways.
We ordered the dungeness crab “tater tots” as an appetizer because it sounded just way too interesting to pass up:

(I nearly burned my mouth off by eating one of those peppers in one big bite. Good thing there was pretty much the most amazing bread EVER to counteract the burn)

And I was so psyched to order tuna for my entree. I miss eating seafood all the time and love me some ahi tuna.

This was delicious. But it looks like a real steak, doesn’t it??! It was pretty rich though and I didn’t finish the whole thing. I also had a glass of merlot with my meal, which was delicious as well.
My plan is to go to bed early tonight then wake up early, write 500 words pre-bike ride, bike, go to power bootcamp class, and then come back and write 1,000 more words in the afternoon. We’ll see how that all plays out. Must get a good nights sleep first though!

Mmmmm tuna steak!! I love getting the sashimi grade ones from Costco in the freezer section. They are amazing, cook up quickly, and are so much cheaper. I would never be able to pass up on anything with crab.

    SEAFOOD FEST!

The difference between tuna here (SF Bay area) and the Midwest where I come from is incredible (quality and price!). Those “tater tots” look like they’d be fun to try make on your own.. maybe baked! This bike sounds dangerous – your shoes clamp onto the pedals? Hopefully you don’t don’t loose your balance!

I am so terrified of the strapped-in shoes! What happens if you loose your balance and your foot gets stuck? Tip over? I guess I’ve never actually seen that happen so I’m sure it’ll be easier than it looks!

As for the donations–if I had $20 to spare I’d give to you! But I’m unemployed…broke…yeahhh

Regarding the donations, perhaps readers could team up together to make a $20 donation from a group of 2-3 readers. One reader could “front” the $20, and the others could then transfer money to each other using Paypal (or readers who are nearby each other could just hand over cash). That way, people could make smaller donations of $5 or $10 and contribute, even if they can’t afford a $20 donation. Just an idea.

Since I have started looking more carefully into where my donations go (chose carefully for my 2 Haiti ones so far) and have been readin more in the news about charities,I think it’s worthwhile to know how they work.
Could you ask Echelon what how the money is divided up…as in what percentage goes to administration, staff, expenses and what percentage of donation goes directly to cancer research?
    That would be great.
Obviously every charity has costs of course ,but it is very enlightening to find out how they are working. It is good to keep groups accountable(which the majority of them are!)and good for us to know what we are giving to and educate ourselves more so we can truly give from the heart-knowledge empowers.
Thanks so much.I do admire you!!

I am from Florida too (Orlando area) and i totally agree!! I ALWAYS get seafood at steakhouses!! Maybe because we don’t have enough quality seafood restaurants in Central Florida, gotta get to the coast for those. But I always order Salmon or Tilapia at Outback, and I love ordering sashimi Tuna tacos at my favorite little place nearby!
