Breakfast

Lovely Monday

It’s incredibly lovely to be able to relax and sleep in on a Monday morning! I slept until 8:30 this morning and feel like I caught up on all my missed sleep and now feel revived and rested. When I finally did wake up I made some steel cut oats with water, berries and almond butter. I think Ryan and I might go to the upstairs gym for a little workout in a bit but I’m not sure….

    Hey Jenna,
I’m happy youre having a good weekend! I’m in Canada, so we don’t have Memorial Day long weekend here…oh well!
I’m just wondering about your cat Dexter. I want to adopt a cat but I’m a little in over my head. What did you do to prepare and what type of research did you do before getting him? How old is he? Was he already litter trained and everything? Anything you could tell me about it would be greatly appreciated!

    Hayley,
I know you asked Jenna the kitty question, but I thought I would weigh in. I found my cat about a year ago, she was a kitten (the runt) who was abandon by her mother. I was unsure if I was capable of caring for a pet, but after a two week trial period I fell in love. Training a cat is a walk in the park compared to a dog…I literally filled her box with litter showed her where it was and she figured it out from there. My only compliant would be the shedding, which if I had adopted one instead of found her I probably would have looked for a low shedding breed.

    Rachel,

Above all I just have good genes and practice yoga. I probably do 2 sets of 25 crunches once a week……I should do ab stuff more but I always forget at the gym. Running tones your abs and I am a runner (or I was more of one rather…I haven’t run a long distance in quite some time). I think my diet is one of my main factors in my abs—really. Hard liquor goes STRAIGHT to your tummy and I def. had more of a tummy in college when I drank all the time at the bars with friends. Also I credit yoga which tones your abs like none other!!!!

    kathleen,

I wish I was going to give you a better answer. The truth of the matter is, I didn’t do any research at all. I just walked in, chose dexter and the rest was history. I surprised Ryan with him! I’m a very spur of the moment decision maker and it doesn’t take me a long time to make decisions at all. I knew I wanted an animal…I’ve wanted a dog for years but don’t have time for one right now…and a cat was second best! They are seriously SO easy. You don’t have to potty train them either. You just stick them in their litter box when you get them and from then on out they know where to go. Dexter has never had an accident. And, they are very independent so they can be left home alone for periods of time and that was important to me because I’m never home during the day. It was a great decision…they really don’t take as much time as you think. All they need is a loving home, food, a litter box and something to play with 🙂

Thank you so much for your responses, Kathleen and Jenna!
I was also originally going to get a dog, but I’m also a student and I figured a cat would be a lot easier. And I love animals in general so I figured I would love a cat! Thanks for letting me know- I’m happy that theyre easier. And Ill look into getting one that doesnt shed very much.
