Exercise/ Fitness/ Lunch

Mind Over Matter

Good afternoon!

Unfortunately I’m not on my A-game today. My headache hasn’t gone away and I’m a wee bit worried that my superhuman immunity is wearing down and I’m getting whatever funky virus is going around. Not good. I rarely ever get sick (I don’t think I’ve been sick in about a year and a half!) but when I do…I fall HARD. A few years ago I had to be hospitalized for a week with mono, tonsilitus and pneumonia!

Regardless, this morning I snacked on a little trail mix then headed to the studio to work out outside with the girls! We followed more of a Crossfit plan….not sure how my legs will be feeling tomorrow after 150 air squats!

We did 3 sets of each without any rest in between:

15 jumping jacks

30 push-ups

30 dips

50 air squats

40 crunches

After working out, I headed around the corner to Trader Joe’s to stock up on some fruit since my fridge is pretty bare. I also grabbed these spring rolls + a banana and some juice for a late lunch:

When I got home, I relaxed for a little while in the sweet sunshine with Ketchum, my neighbor’s cute puppy!

This week keeps getting busier and busier by the moment so I’m reallyyyyyy trying not to get sick. Time to crank out a few hours of writing!

Sounds like you could use some serious rest, lots of amazing grass and some vitamin C. At least, those are often my winner go-tos if I’m feeling like something is coming on.

I started drinking green monster smoothies + shakeology nutrition powder (some good stuff and very similar to amazing grass in terms of the nutrients) and I have kept off every flu/virus/cold this year. My fiance had the flu but with 2 monsters day, I kept it off! Amazing stuff good food is. ๐Ÿ˜‰

    1) What are air squats?

    2) Have you ever tried Crossfit? I really want to! If you tried it, did you like it.

    3) I hear ya on getting sick. I haven’t been sick in years and I just got sick twice in two months.

      Lily,

      1) Air squats are just regular squats without any weights. You just stand and squat down over and over.
      2) I’ve never tried Crossfit before but am very interested!

Hi! I’ve been a silent follower for a bit now but since you sound a little like me today I had to post a comment. My day started off with a big headache, quality time “talking on the big white telephone” as my grandmother calls it, and then some rest in bed. I’m pretty much all better now. Drink 2 OZ Wheat Grass shots from somewhere like Cafe Gratitude or Whole Foods. And WORD. Say over and over to self ‘I’m well, all my cells are mighty and strong’ etc something. Because if use the word ‘sick’ and focus on it will get it.
As you said–I am never sick but the few times have been it’s been something major. When stressed it’s time for blender drinks with protein powder. Fruits in AM to cleanse, vegs in PM to fortify. And soups. Because then nutrients get absorbed at cellular level. You know all of this but when starting to feel poorly it sometimes helps to have an ‘Aunty Buttinsky’ reminder. Hope you feel much better. ๐Ÿ™‚

    Jenna,

I saw the workout you were planning and definitely thought CROSSFIT immediately. I’m so excited to read that you’re interested in it. I’ve been doing it steadily for about a year and have never been stronger or happier with my appearance and abilities. I strongly, STRONGLY recommend researching it and giving it a try. The mainpage workouts can be intimidating, so please look into scaling via Crossfit BrandX, or looking into working at your local Crossfit affiliate. Please don’t hesitate to email me or drop by my blog if you have questions. It’s new, so I’ve lots to post but I would welcome your visit!
