Lunch

More Peanut Butter!!

I went to another yoga class this morning, this time a power yoga flow class and it was quite challenging but equally great! When I got home I made, what I think is my favorite sandwich ever, a grilled peanut butter/raspberry preserves/banana sandwich on whole wheat. Drool, drool, drool. I just love this combo and I just love peanut butter!!!!!! I also had some crumbs of what was left of some pita chips on the side…it was all I could find in my parent’s pantry! I probably used about 2 tbsp peanut butter in this sandwich, along with 1 tbsp jam (bonne maman raspberry preserves = the love of my life) and a large banana. SO GOOD!

I’m just running some errands with my mom this afternoon and studying for a test I have tomorrow night before Ryan gets home around 3:00. We are ordering pizza to my parent’s house tonight and just having a chill evening. See you at dinner!

Jenna, how do you keep the pb from oozing out of the sandwich and getting all over the pan?? I tried to make grilled pb after seeing it on Eat Like Me once, but it was just a mess!! Thanks!

    Jenna,
I tried Bikram yoga for the first time yesterday, and LOVED it! (I’m gong again today!) You’ve inspired me so much in my eating, and now this! I was just wondering how often you go, and what you eat before/after?

    Mel,

SO happy to hear how much you enjoyed Bikram. It truly is wonderful and is sooo good for you because you release all the nasty toxins in your body! A good thing to do while practicing is to fill your water bottle up and then dump a packet of Emergen-C in it so you can replenish everything you sweat out. That’s a tip they told me when I was practicing almost everyday while living in Paris and it really made a difference because I didn’t feel so drained afterwards.

I eat just like normal before it. Usually I’ll go to a morning class at like 9 or 10 and I’ll have a regular breakfast (oatmeal or granola) at like 7 or 7:30. You really should try to eat a normal sized meal 2 hours before…and DEF. eat because if you don’t eat before you can get very lightheaded and pass out. Not good. Even some peanut butter toast would be good.

I don’t get to practice Bikram as much as I’d like because my yoga studio in Orlando (where I have a package) is just an ashtanga studio. I think when my class package runs out I’ll try buying some classes at the Bikram Orlando studio though to test it out. I’ve gone everyday before…and I’ve also gone 2 or 3 times a week. My mom goes about 2 times a week and LOVES it. Just make sure you are drinking PLENTY of water and eating and you will be fine! Its addicting, isn’t it?!

That comment post just made me realize how much I miss Bikram! I definitely need to start going again. I always had a a decent size fruit salad about an hour before class. If I didn’t have a hearty lunch that day or I went in the morning, I add some nuts. I also would skip class if I knew I didn’t have enough water in me, or otherwise I would get a terrible dehydration headache.

Jenna, how do you like Ashtanga? Better than or equal to Bikram? I love yoga anything, so I’m sure I’d love that practice as well.
