I got called off work! I know I shouldn’t be happy because I really do need to make some $$$, but I love being home with my family and since I start school again on Monday morning, this is sort of my last little bit of winter break!
Tonight I’m cooking dinner for my mom and I. I’m making a big batch of homemade split pea soup and some rolls to go with it. My mom made this soup once a couple years ago and sent some back to college with me and I just remember it being SO GOOD and comforting! It has to simmer for the rest of the day and has a huge smoked ham hock in it…I think it’s going to be really tasty :).
For a snack today I got a hot white tea at my favorite little tea shop, Teavana, and also bought a yogurt and a nectarine at Whole Foods while I was there getting dinner supplies. I haven’t had a nectarine in ages and it was so good and sweet! I dipped it in my vanilla yogurt and it was quite a satisfying snack.
Okay–off to start baking! I think you all will really like this easy easy recipe I have for homemade rolls. I’ll post it when I’m done. Even people who have never baked in their life could do it!
