Good morning!
Ryan got in late last night but Dexter kept us up all night as he tried to climb up the curtains again!! Does anyone else have this problem?! Needless to say, we slept in til 8:00 this morning when when I forced us to get up and get an early start at the gym. I had a small slice of my homemade wheat bread with a smear of peanut butter before we went:
And, once there, I did cardio and abs:
25 minutes on the treadmill (combo of running and walking on a steep incline—not holding on! I always hold on but today I didn’t and got a much harder workout!)
3 sets of crunches holding weight (10 lbs above head like demonstrated in video)—20 reps
3 sets of hanging abs—12 reps
When we got home, I made us an omelet for breakfast!
For two of us, I used 7 egg whites seasoned with sea salt and pepper and we just split it down the middle. I also had a Rudi’s whole wheat bagel with a big spoonful of almond butter and a banana. I like to have my eggs with ketchup if you can’t tell! 😉
We are about to get ready and then head over to the resort where my friends are staying. I think the plan is to just lay out by the pool all day and relax and then we are going out tonight. Lunch will probably be something casual around the pool but I’m bringing my last Balance Pure bar for a snack later because I’m sure I’ll be hungry!!
Stay tuned!

August 2, 2008 at 3:50 pmHey jenna – wasn’t able to read your blog the last couple of days so just did a massive catch up session! Your bread looks amazing, its the one thing I just can’t crack – bread making, it just always turns out too heavy. It really upsets me cos normal bread has so many preservatives in it and I love having freshly baked bread. My mum makes the most amazing bread – I just love it.
Anyway, I was reading about your cottage cheese and I find it so weird that you have it almost like yoghurt!! I think its just cos its just ingrained in me that its a savoury thing (maybe its a british thing? I don’t know). Anyway, was wondering if you had tried fromage frais – I’m going through a bit of an obsession for it at the moment (I’m so food faddy!) – its more creamy than usual low fat yoghurt but kinda similar to cottage cheese but sweeter so thought you might like it. Although maybe its the chunkiness of the cottage cheese that you like… anyway… just a thought!
have a great day

August 2, 2008 at 3:54 pmYou should try putting a tiny bit of syrup on your eggs, I always use blackberry but of your a maple girl that would work. I just love the sweetness, and if you want something really different, add the syrup and a bit of hot sauce for a seriously fun taste combo, it’s my favorite 🙂

i always get made fun of because one of my favorite breakfasts is to microwave a potato, scramble some eggs, put the eggs on top of the potatoe and smother it in ketchup. its just like hasbrowns but no one believes me.

August 2, 2008 at 6:19 pmYep, can’t hang onto the treadmill if you want a quality workout, especially if you are training for a race. There’s nothing to hang onto when you’re running the race.
