Ahh I am so sorry! Guess what?! The internet is still broken. The brighthouse guy “claimed” to have called me at 5 when he was in my area so he could come by, but my phone never rang. So…..he never came! I’ve been on the phone with brighthouse for about half and hour and the most I got out of them was $20 off my current internet bill and a technician to come check the cable lines outside tomorrow while I’m at work. They think that’s the problem. Who knows! What a headache!!! So yes, I am back in my little spot outside where I picked up some form of connection. It seems to be very come and go because I tried earlier today in the spot and there was nothing. It’s sort of nice to be outside and blog though I guess for a change :\
I have a ton of pictures to update yall with though so not all is lost! Last night, Ryan and I went to The Room Room on Park Ave. here in Orlando (missed you Caitlin!!!–we were looking for you!) and it was a ton of fun. Too much fun actually. But let me backtrack—first we went out for pizza at a restaurant in Winter Park called Giovanni’s. They had personal sized pizzas there, which they claimed were 10 inches but seemed more like 12 inches but it worked because Ryan and I could each get our own and be happy campers! I had a glass of Italian merlot and we split a greek salad (feta on the side for Ryan—it was a huge salad!) and garlic knots (ryan ordered these and I couldn’t resist…had 1.5 knots) to start. I got a cheeseless pizza with spinach, banana peppers, black olives, mushrooms and onions as my meal. It was very tasty but I could only eat half of the pizza so I brought the other half home to bring to work for lunch tomorrow. Ryan had his usual pepperoni pizza of course 😉
Then…after dinner we went to the wine bar. I think in total I had two glasses of wine full of “tastes” but it seemed like much more! I’m not sure what my favorite was but I really liked a red called “Starfish” if any of yall have heard of it. We stayed until around 10:30 and good thing Ryan was the driver! Its very hard to judge “how much is too much” when you are having a blast and keep getting small one to two ounce pours of different wines. I need more self control!
Here’s a “before” shot when we just got to the bar and I’m sipping on my first taste:
After shot with me (thanks, Ryan) eating a late-night garlic knot in the car on the way home (it was worth it!):
Regardless, I woke up not feeling my utmost best this morning and Ryan and I lounged about for while (today is our anniversary!!) and cleaned the house. For breakfast I had two HempPlus waffles with a little peanut butter on them and covered with banana slices and strawberries. I also had a chai tea latte that I made with soymilk and Tazo chai concentrate mix.
We went out to lunch before Ryan had to go at Greens and Grille, a make-your-own-salad place next to my apartment. I got a mixed greens salad with chickpeas, edamame, caramelized onions, artichoke hearts and grilled portabello on top with their AMAZING kalamata olive dressing and a hot crusty piece of whole wheat foccacia on the side. It hit the spot and I felt a ton better!
At Target this afternoon I picked up a new yoga dvd. I popped it in when I got home (after snacking on a few pretzels) and it was really really good. Definitely the most “hard core” yoga dvd I’ve done. I highly recommend this one. I feel like I got a great workout with it and it was an hour long—full of challenging postures and tons of strengthening poses.
For dinner tonight, while I WAS waiting for the Brighthouse guy, I made a recipe I had pulled out of “Eating Well” magazine months ago and never made. It was black bean croquettes with avocado-tomato salsa. It only took a few minutes to prepare and was very filling and tasty. I cut the recipe in half to make only 4 bean balls (2 is the serving size) and I used just regular salsa that I mixed with 1/4th of an avocado. The bean balls are filled with cilantro, tomatoes, corn, spices and some whole wheat bread crumbs. I also heated up a blue corn taco shell to eat with it and dip in extra salsa. I’m surprised at how huge the portion size was because I could hardly finish my dinner! I also had a glass of the french red wine I picked up from Target earlier.
I brought home about 3 lbs of buttercream frosting from school and am going to practice my piping and flower making tonight….no internet to distract me with I guess! I’ll definitely be back at some point tomorrow. Hopefully from the comfort of my own home and not outside on the concrete. Gotta do what ya gotta do I guess!

June 22, 2008 at 11:41 pmThis question is for Jenna or anyone else who’d like to voice their opinion-I’m looking to buy a vegetarian/vegan cookbook and wanted to know what you thought had the best recipes and you got the most use from. I’d like a book that didn’t use too many “specialty” ingredients (like soy crumbles) because I live in a tight-budget omni household. Thanks!

June 22, 2008 at 11:59 pmThis question is for anyone. Has anyone tried green smoothies? If so, do you have any recipes that you’d like to share? I typically make smoothies with mixed berries, yogurt, and some skim milk, but would like to add more greens in to my diet.

June 23, 2008 at 3:01 amhaha the exact same thing happens to me when i drink too much wine—i start eating everything and anything in sight. the whole pizza would have been devoured if it had been in my lap ; )
and i wish my target sold wine, but in PA you can only get alcohol from liquor stores which is SO inconvenient. Especially on nights like tonight at 7 when all i wanted was a good wine to go with my dinner but the liquor store closes at 530 on sundays. boo.

June 23, 2008 at 3:39 amHappy Anniversary love! I think it’s so amazing how you two have stayed together two years through all of the long distances! It shows a lot about your relationship that goes beyond words 🙂
The late night picture of you eating the garlic knot is so cute too! It seems as though Ryan always takes pictures of you when you’re sneaking a treat… A cookie here, a carrot cake cupcake there, A supercharge me cookie, a knot, haha. Guess he knows where your heart really is, huh! 🙂
Good luck with that internet! What a pain that must be 🙁

June 23, 2008 at 4:00 amStacy, as a raw vegan I drink green smoothies all the time. The beauty of green smoothies is that there is no one recipe – just throw the greens in according to your tastes and preferences. As I’m vegan I don’t use any dairy products in my smoothies so mine consist purely of raw fruits and veggies, sometimes with a little hemp protein or flax thrown in. The combinations are truly endless but there are a whole bunch of great resources out there for learning more about green smoothies. Check out the following to get started:

Hope that helps somewhat 🙂
Jenna,
So sorry about the internet problems! That can be insanely frustrating (I’ve been through it myself many times!) Hoping things get fixed quickly. Happy anniversary to you and Ryan! 🙂

June 23, 2008 at 8:47 pmOh and I’ve totally done Rodney Yee’s power yoga videos before and let me tell you, that man is A.MAZING! Quite the Yogini, you know?! He is like a different species of Human or something, the way he “jumps/hovers/defies gravity” back into his plank?! Is that unreal?! I just love him 🙂
