Sam's Club is owned by the same owners as Wal-Mart. They are famous for infringing on their employees' civil and human rights, they have terrible environmental regulations, they have mislabeled food as organic, they deny their employees a 40 hour week so that they can save on health insurance, they run small businesses out of town. All this while the CEO and his family make billions of dollars a year. If you have to buy in bulk (super environmentally unfriendly esp for individually packaged food) I'd choose Costco. I've been a member for 10 years or so and they do have some really good deals.

Revolutionary Road is just one of those movies that you have to watch and then absorb. You'll think about it for days after and just appreciate something more. Even if it's just that Kate Winslet is a genious. But I hope you've seen The Reader! Now that is a very interesting and well-made/acted film!

And now I am going to have to get a Costco membership! Wowza! Those deals sound incredible...you should be their spokesperson if the wine thing doesn't work out! lol

I love shopping at Costco, even though there are only two of us. A lot of their produce is organic. I love their organic fuji apples, they are the sweetest I've tasted among all the local grocery stores. They also have a great deal on organic baby spinach(3.50 for 1 1/2 lbs). They have amazing prices for berries. Recently, I saw 2 lbs of blueberries for 5 bucks! They also sell 4 lbs strawberries for 4.99(but it might be a California thing, since we grow them strawberries here). They have a good selection for all natural peanut butter and all natural preserves. They used to sell MaraNatha almond butter before at my Costco, but they stopped. They also sell Stonyfield's Organic flavored yogurts.....and not to forget the amazingly cheap shrimp, tilapia and salmon! Do check it out today if you have time.

In college I thought it would be a GREAT idea to use my parent's membership at Sam's Club and stock up my cabinets for a full school year. Oh goodness, I actually had my giant boxes of pasta and rice for OVER A YEAR!! I think there are certainly deals to be had (esp. for 2!) if you buy what you know you use A LOT of - otherwise, it probably is more for families!!

Just had to say... I was so disappointed in Revolutionary Road. Hubby rented it and then when I told him what it was about he didn't want to watch it (sounded too sad for the mood he was in, I guess) so I watched it alone. Too dark, too slow, too much yelling, no great surprises. Love the actors in other things but didn't care for the movie at all!
We go to Sam's for 2 adults and 2 young children and get great deals on certain things. Tires for vehicles are one thing that's great at ours (they have a mechanic shop at ours). Also, great place to go before entertaining.
Love the pic of Dexter, my little green-eyed black cat, Julia, is sitting right here!
Hope today is sunnier!

I love Costco in Canada. Everything we have is from there. I can always trust that Costco has the best price for appliances, furniture and books, though selection is not the biggest. Meat and produce isn't as cheap as some grocery stores around here. I also had a membership at Sam's Club until they closed. I loved it too but I had to drive 30 minutes to get to the nearest one. I'd say that they carry different produce (brands/organic/conventional) vs Costco so you will have to check out which one carries items you would purchase. Definitely split your membership with your parents. In Canada you have to show that you reside at the same address so bring your ID showing your parents address when you join with them. Oh, we have the Executive membership and though it costs $45 more here, the 2% rebate we receive every year has resulted in them paying me to go to Costco (my rebate check is usually $200+ - yeah we buy everything there) so that covers the membership renewal and then some.
Costco's Kirkland Signature features the Martha Stewart product line. Up here in Canada we can't get it but I would love to try out her line.

I am a Costco member and I highly recommend joining. I have friends who recently switched from Sam's to Costco and they can not get over the difference in quality. In the past year it seems that Costco has made a huge shift to organic produce and other food items. The wine/beer/liquor section is also amazing, especially if you need to stock up for a party. I can not get over the price of Larabars! We only have 2 people in our household, but my guy has recently made a shift to healthier eating (green monsters) so we fly through produce, and their prices for organic can not be beat. I am a die-hard Whole Foods fan but I've found myself heading to Costco more and more.
