One Week!

Ahhhhhh finally Friday!!!

And I officially have one more week of culinary school! eek! This morning I feel dramatically better! My throat isn’t sore at all anymore and I’m feeling pretty good! Knowing that it’s Friday helps as well, I’m sure. 😉

This morning I changed it up from my usual oats to have another favorite breakfast. I used to eat this breakfast every single day in college and I still love the combo: peanut butter toast, a yogurt and a banana. The combo of complex carbs to healthy fats to protein really keeps me going!

Ah my last vanilla chobani :(. I love this flavor!

I also will be bringing a snack but I don’t know what it will be yet. I’ll report back at lunch. Today should be more of a fun and easy day—in cost control we are just working on our projects for the entire 2 hours of class and then in wine we are reviewing for our exam on Monday and having another tasting. Maybe this one will be more fun for me now that my throat isn’t on fire anymore!

    That jam is making my mouth water. Also, about the tempeh – I made that and I didn’t think it was very flavorful either. I wonder if tempeh just doesn’t soak up marinades very well?

    You should celebrate tonight with a Samba Room mojito after your dinner. I’d have it in place of desserts because I am certain anything you can make is better than the little shot glass desserts they do. I think they’re a little overrated.

    hey jenna!
    I love you’re blog and i think you give great advice. I was wondering, since you gave a glimpse of it today, how you ate in college. I’m a freshman and i’m having a really hard time avoiding the sweets and resisting seconds and thirds at the all-you-can eat style buffet. I also keep snacks in my room which i realize i can’t do anymore because they are a foot away from me! Out here i have ZERO self control and it really takes its toll. I usually eat healthfully when i can count calories on my own at home but here that’s so difficult to do here and though i keep a journal it hasn’t help much keeping second portions and snacks out of my mouth. The food i eat isn’t unhealthy per se but the amount it. I want to loose weight, i’m 5 2′ and weigh 130 but want to get back down to my happy weight of around 115. I work out 5-6 times a week for an hour usually. I just want to know if you have any tips or motivation or advice to help me maneuver this extremely hard weight-loss endeavor.

    Hi Erica,

    I’ve talked about this before…I really wasn’t healthy in college and I actually weighed roughly 10 lbs more than I do today. My first two years I partied non-stop and I settled down when I got a job and got serious about my academics my junior year. I honestly think drinking is the most difficult thing IN college and it is what causes the freshman 15 for sure. And I definitely gained it! Stay from being a boozehound 3 nights a week and you are all good. When you drink you inhibitions are lower and therefore you snack late as night as well, which is something I did that is not good. Fill up your diet with lean protein, whole grains and tons of fruits and vegetables. It’s also about discipline…yes that buffet may look enticing but remember what it does to your waistline!! There were times when I had to do squats around my dorm just trying to fit into my jeans. Start walking everywhere and drinking more water too! Hope that helps!

    Congrats on being so close to finishing school!! I’m so envious. Actually a Cordon Bleu school just opened in Cambridge, MA and I am definintely going to look into it for next year (after we buy a house…dont think a new school loan will help get a mortgage). It’s something I’ve always wanted to do and I think I finally need to just do it…so I might be asking for some advice someday 🙂
