Hi friends!
Again—-thank you, thank you, THANK YOU to those that donated to my Team in Training fund. We are now $320 strong and 7% of the way there!! So thank you Meredith, Dana, Lara, Sabrina, Heather, Amanda, Rebecca, Kirsten, Kath, Amy, Ryan and Liz!!!! I am actively trying to think of fundraising ideas….if anyone has a great idea that they think will pull in some more money, please email me and I will do everything in my power to make it happen! If you check out the top of my homepage on the blog, you will see a new page titled “Team in Training”. Here you can reach the link to my fundraising site.
This morning I started off with a delicious Rudi’s Honey Sweet Whole Wheat bagel with almond butter-—
I think hot carbs + nut butter might be my favorite thing in the entire world.
This definitely held me over until breakfast, when I pulled out my yummy jumbo breakfast cookie!
The combo of 3/4 cup oats, 1/2 scoop chocolate protein powder, 1 tbsp almond butter, 3 tbsp silk light vanilla and 1/2 mashed banana just cannot be beat!!
Work was fun….my boss and I are working on a new multigrain bread recipe that we are going to test out tomorrow. We use a mix of quinoa, brown rice, bulger wheat and rolled oats to create a high in fiber whole wheat bread. Pictures to come tomorrow if it works! 🙂
When I got home, I threw together a light and fast lunch because I’m getting ready to head to Trout Creek Trail to run 3-3 1/2 miles with my mom and brother (they are walking Mikan there). It is GORGEOUS outside!!! =)
Here’s my Rudi’s whole wheat wrap with 2 eggs, 1/4 cup part skim mozzarella cheese, 1/2 chopped bell pepper, sea salt and pepper:
Gotta run! See you in a bit!

March 24, 2009 at 11:17 amWhy did you take out your yoga story?
jenna
March 24, 2009 at 11:19 amAmy,
I took it out because I couldn’t fit the Team in Training site up there as well and I think everyone has basically heard the yoga story and this new fundraising project is going to be pretty much my life for the next six months!

March 24, 2009 at 11:36 amNut butter on carbs is heaven. Pure heaven. I was just thinking about how you say almond butter is like crack..it so is. Especially Barney Butter. I’ve been craving it for days and days. I love to smear it on some warmed homeade multigrain bread and it gets all melty..yum!

March 24, 2009 at 11:51 amWhat a wonderful announcement. I did a 20 mile walk a couple of years ago for a local food bank and it was a wonderful experience. That it is in San Fran is an added bonus! You should build in a couple of days to take in the area. I’m not sure if you’ve been before, but imagine you would love, love, love the Cafe at Chez Panisse. I went in the fall and it was unbelievable. The fall is also a very nice time in San Fran in my opinion. You are making me eager to go back.

March 24, 2009 at 11:54 amThe multigrain bread sounds like it’s going to be fantastic! Enjoy your run! 🙂

March 24, 2009 at 12:04 pmHum. I will try to think of some ideas for your mission here, but none come right off the top of my head. I don’t think I got to say this on your blog – but I did want to say congrats and good for you for doing something like this! I think it’s amazing, and I really do wish you the best of luck!
(perhaps like meghann you could do some sort of sale to raise money?)
Betsy
March 24, 2009 at 12:08 pmhaha i love the words “hot carbs”… is there anything better?
Stephanie
March 24, 2009 at 12:10 pmMeghann pioneered the “blogging bake sale” idea, but perhaps you could tweak it a little to make it your own and auction off some of your greenwise products that we see on your blog all the time but most of us don’t have access to? That’s what I thought of off the top of my head, but I’ll see what I can do 🙂

March 24, 2009 at 12:51 pmI wish you all the best in the half-marathon…what a wonderful cause. Though we runners never need an excuse to do what we love, running for an important purpose is often the best incenctive to keep going! You will do great–good luck with your fundraising!

March 24, 2009 at 1:59 pmHey Jenna,
A friend of mine did some fundraising for Team in Training a while ago, and I thought what he did was pretty cute. He had different ‘reward levels’ for donations, so if you donated $25 you got a postcard from his event, for $50 you got a postcard and his world-famous granola bar recipe, for $100 you got a batch of granola bars in the mail!
I’m sure with your baking skills you could do something similar and make big bucks!
good luck 🙂

March 24, 2009 at 8:05 pmI know there has already been a “blogger bake sale,” but what about a “blogger cake walk?”
If you are unfamiliar with cake walks, the basic idea is explained at:
http://www.ehow.com/how_2073391_organize-cake-walk.html
Obviously, the “walk” part needs to be modified for the internet… you could just assign participants numbers and use a random number generator to select the winner of each round.
Best of luck raising money!

March 24, 2009 at 10:59 pmI completely agree, hot carbs + melty peanut butter is the best combination EVER!!!
And that egg burrito looks delicious and perfectly wrapped too! 🙂
