Our Experience (so far) with T25 + Why I Became a Beachbody Coach

Okay guys, so I almost didn’t write this post today. Since I announced my husband and I were halfway done with the T25 exercise program and loving every day of it, I have gotten HUNDREDS of emails from you all wanting to know more. I’ve stayed up late every night this week working to respond personally to each and every one of you. So why hesitant, you ask? Well, because I’m human! Opening up and being vulnerable on the internet about something that I really believe in and am passionate about scares me sometimes. However, if I can help just one of you feel better about yourself and live a happier, healthier life then it’s worth it to me.

So here we go. I’ll talk first about our experience with the exercise program and then afterwards, get into shortly why I became a coach. All this is super honest and comes from my heart. I know there are always conflicting opinions but keep in mind I won’t tolerate any cruel comments. This is supposed to be encouraging.

I started T25 after one of the Beachbody coaches who I know through mutual friends messaged me on Facebook and asked me if I had any interest in joining her “challenge group”. At the time, I didn’t. Life was super busy and I was like “ughhhhh another workout program that — let’s be honest — I probably will quit…no thanks. Plus, it’s expensive. Plus…a challenge group? I don’t even know what that is. No.” Anyway, two months went by and then I finally messaged her back saying I was tired of feeling tired all the time…I wanted to get back in shape and find an at home exercise program my husband and I could enjoy doing together since going to the gym isn’t an option for us. She recommended T25 to me. I thought about it for a few days, consulted Gina (who I have known for years and whose opinion I really trust!), then bought the challenge pack, which consists of the program (10 dvds) + a month’s supply of Shakeology. I never looked back! We started immediately and have loved every day.

It’s a 10 week program — you work out 5x a week for 25 minutes a day. Expect to get your butt kicked…but in a good way.  The instructor, Shaun T, is super motivating and you will see results FAST, especially if you combine it with drinking Shakeology every day. Honestly, it’s been a month now and I feel like a whole different person. I feel more fit, healthier and overall, happier. My husband is the same. I really could look you in the eye right now and tell you that I feel like I’m a better mom because I’m taking care of myself. I’m carving out time in the day to focus on myself and it’s been amazing. This isn’t about me trying to sell you something — this is just me telling you these at home exercise programs, and the online support that comes with them, is amazing and life changing.


Now onto why I became a Beachbody coach. First, maybe I should explain what a Beachbody coach is and what it isn’t.

Being a coach is about motivating others to exercise and support them in their fitness goals.

It is about being that extra push someone needs to get back in shape.

It is providing one on one support in an online setting (both individual and small group).

It is about me providing you with meal plans, healthy recipes and tips on how to reach your goals.

It is about me being a motivator, a cheerleader and a support whatever your goals may be.

It’s NOT about me being a fitness expert, “guru”, or personal trainer. It’s not about me doing the work for you — you have to do that. I’ll be hosting my own challenge groups monthly where people can feel encouraged and motivated in a small, intimate group setting as they work to accomplish their goals.

I wasn’t sure I wanted to jump into something new like this right now, and honestly, when my friend Brittany originally confronted me asking me if I wanted to be a coach I said NO. But then all your emails…some of them made me cry. I found that I absolutely loved talking about this and motivating you guys. So I thought, why not? I’m going to give this a go because I truly believe in the products, love the positive community of Beachbody coaches and, most of all, love helping people live more fulfilling lives.

I definitely need some encouragement on the Beach body, all the girls (well ladies on my street, all mid – 30’s like myself) and doing Beach Body and we’re kind of doing it together. There’s something about getting a little nudge that really helps geting you motivated!

This is intriguing! Just curious why the gym isn’t an option for you? I am also a young mom and trying to figure out what makes the most sense for working out.

Well, Grayson hates kid care and I just don’t care for the gym, personally. I stopped going a few years ago and never really felt the need for a membership. I love working out from home! 🙂

Mine is 2 and is my mini cling-on, which I am totally fine with but means she doesn’t like the gym daycare either! She’s super into watching me work out at home and tries to follow along, so that’s a fun option when you can’t do it during naptime anymore!!

We’ve been loving 21 day fix for the past month and just started the extreme series. For the first time ever, I have abs! It’s great to work out for only 30 minutes and get seriously pushed. My husband does it with me and he lives it too. We laugh and have the best time together doing it. I love that you’re so happy to have found something!

Hi – I was actually thinking of buying the dvds, but I know very little about beachbody. I’m curious about the price difference in doing the program with a coach vs independently? I’ve got a 12 week old keeping me close to home and I for sure could use the motivation of a coach/group, but it’d be great to be able to price it out. Thanks!

I’ve been doing CrossFit for a few years now and love whenever ANYONE jumps into a fitness regime that works for them! Congrats and good luck, you’ll do great because you LOVE it and that’s what counts! 😀

Hey Jenna – I have a friend who is a coach and she had me join one of those challenges and I ended up wanting to continue because I loved the Shakeology so much. I’m technically a coach, but just for the discount, not working the business. However, that might change. How is T25 in terms of impact/ joints?

Well, they are both so different! T25 is much more intense and is pretty much all high intensity interval training. I’ve been doing Barre3 for years and years and just wanted to shake things up and kick it up another level. Barre3 is AWESOME, I just wanted to try something new and a little more intense, I suppose!

Hi Jenna! I wrote you about being part of your challenge group via messenger but thought I would comment here too. I was intrigued by the last part about being part of your coaching team…can you tell me more? I’ve been teaching Body Pump for almost three years at my local Y and have loved every minute of coaching others to be their best selves…not for swimsuit season, not to be “skinny”…but to be fit and healthy and happy and to live long, full lives! I’ve just moved across the country from Las Vegas to Maryland and am trying to find my way back to my fitness and eating routine after being away from it almost a month. I need the motivation and encouragement as much as the next lady! Can’t wait to hear more about this and be a part of it somehow! So happy you found this for you and your family…sounds like it’s been the perfect fit!

Hi! I’m an avid runner and run 4 days a week and go to the gym 2x a week to lift weights. The gym part of my routine has gotten stale. Is this something I could incorporate into my week without doiung it 5x a week? I really don’t want to cut back on running – especialy now that winter seems to have passed. I guess what I’m asking is, could this work only doing it 2x a week?

Check out p90x3. It’s a strength based program that is only 30 minutes. There are cardio components as well if you want to use them ( I don’t do those DVDs while I’m running) . I am currently training for a marathon and find this program a great compliment to running.

No cruel comments from me. Although I have different opinions of Beachbody than you and it’s followers, I do respect your choice to try something different and see what works for you at this stage of your life. Plus, people who are passionate enough to GENUINELY want to help, encourage and guide people towards a healthier lifestyle is needed in this world. It sounds like that’s what you are doing.

I also wish I had your guts to put myself out there to the world like that knowing that everybody has an “opinion” and can break your heart with negativity.

Is there a way to try this that’s not all-in? I’m having a baby in late May and afterwards would be interested to try out the workouts but I’m not interested in the whole $100+ kit that involves a nutrition plan, etc.

T25 is a 10 week program that consists of 10 dvds – unfortunately there’s no way to just buy half the program. 🙁 I think it’s definitely an awesome value though for what you get!

You’ve got me convinced–I just ordered t25 for me and my husband! I had a baby in February, and the gym is also not an option for us (we’re cattle ranchers), and we don’t have hours to devote to working out every day, but we wanted a new way to get in shape (and I’m wanting to lose the baby weight of course!). Can’t wait for it to come in the mail!

Congrats! Such an amazing step and feeling that you are motivating others and staying healthy yourself. I just started as a Beachbody Coach which compliments my Health & Run/Fitness Coaching business. It’s all about change lives and putting yourself out there for others. They watch/read you all the time now, and it’s a great influence!

Wow! You’re a beachbody coach. I’ve been seeing ads about them in Insanity videos and even in P90X. That’s so cool. You must be really fit. I’ve been trying to lose some belly fats since January but I really have a hard time getting inspiration. Maybe I should also join some group to keep me going.

I’m all for supporting and encouraging others to lose weight, but I’m a little hesitant about programs like Shakeology that are structured somewhat like a pyramid scheme. I though this article on jezebel, http://jezebel.com/5942048/shopping-oriented-pyramid-schemes-lure-in-ladies-then-steal-their-friends-cash-and-confidence, (which mentions Shakeology) was a good overview of some of my concerns. I feel like you have the best intentions, but I really hope you are fully informed about what you are advising your readers.

PS. It’s great that you and your husband like the program so much! Also, your baby is adorable.

I am all for supporting/encouraging others to pursue a healthy lifestyle. Especially during seasons of life when it feels like you have to choose between working out or spending time together…etc Finding something that works is exciting! Extra bonus points if you don’t have to leave the house!
I have borrowed these dvds from a friend and think the workouts are awesome. My best friend is now a beachbody coach and sells Shakeology. I tried Shakeology and enjoyed it very much. Of course, it isn’t a pyramid scheme but it is about as close to a pyramid scheme as you can get without being one!

Well, I just ordered T25. I have to do something. I turned 40 in September and moved with my husband and 3 kids to London the week before. I’m eating way more because – it’s London. I need to lose 30lbs. I’m tired and sore and cranky all the time. I’m really honestly praying this helps. I’m also praying God miraculously gives me the willpower to follow through with this program. I think I’m going to start first with the exercise and then change eating habits (portion control). Thanks for blogging Jenna!!

I have the TurboJam and Insanity DVDs and use them as supplementary workouts. I don’t think I would last through a 6 week program, but I do enjoy the workouts. 🙂

I just bought T25 through a social media friend of mine- I start May4th! Is there a way to be a part of your challenge groups without switching coaches? I would feel bad ditching her!
