Breakfast

Pearly Whites

Morning!

I had an old classic for breakfast:

Just some oatmeal with soymilk, banana and almond butter. All those fancy variations just can’t beat it sometimes.

So I know you have probably seen this on a million other blogs by now, but say hello to the Waterpik!

All my life I’ve been a straightforward “toothbrush from the dentist” kind of girl. I’m pretty simple and cheap toothbrushes have always done the job! That being said, this was a big treat for me. I’ve been using it for the past three days and really like it…..it’s quite the powerful little machine! My only criticism is that it turns on SO easily—this thing was vibrating away in the box because the button got accidentally pressed! The button is very, very sensitive and if you are not careful you will spray toothpaste all over your bathroom mirror. I know from experience. 😉

My teeth do feel all spankin’ clean though after I use it….it’s sort of like going to the dentist and not leaving your house. In a less painful way. Haha

This morning I am going to see an athletic trainer for my shins! Lisa is a professional triathlete, triathlon coach, athletic trainer and strength and conditioning specialist (whew!) that works at the yoga studio I go to. She was so kind to offer to a few sessions to me to see if she can help my shin pain….I think she is going to tape me up this morning or something. I’m sure y’all know more than I do on this, but she says there’s some special type of medical tape that lasts for days that she uses on her professional athletes. I’ve never been “taped” before so this will be interesting. I’ll report back.

Happy Tuesday!

Cool waterpik. one question…would you spend $80.00 on it?

      Jenna,

No. But that’s just because I’m on the strictest budget of my life. If you HAVE $80 then I think it’s a great thing….but I don’t have an extra $80.

That’s great news! My husband had an injury for over 3 years and has just now found a PT whose techniques are helping him get back to normal. He really thought he was just going to be injured for the rest of his life. Keep seeking out different professionals. Eventually, you will be able to find a solution to your shin problems.

You oatmeal looks just perfect for the first day of fall! I go through tooth brushes so FAST (brushing too hard). I don’t think that waterpik would last with me! I was taped in high school before a big cross-country match. It’s a weird feeling when the tape finally comes off.

This is so funny: this morning I thought exactly the same thing (I wanted just a ‘plain version’ of oatmeal), so I made oats with milk. Nothing more…delicious!

Good luck with the taping! I went to an ART doctor (active release technique) last spring when I was training for my first half and he taped me up. It helped immensely and I could run with no shin pain while I was taped up! Not sure if it’ll be the same technique, but hopefully it’ll help!
I’m training for another half and have had NO shin pain this time around…and I owe it all to The Stick, stretching, and doing strength moves. I hope you can find something to cure your shin pain soon!

Hey Jenna! I have been reading your blog for a while now and just love it. I have gotten so many great dinner ideas..hello Mediterranean Stuffed Bell Peppers! I just started a blog, more or less just for fun b/c I enjoy reading them so much.

I am so excited to see all these tooth brushes popping up over the blog world b/c I am a 2nd year dental student in Birmingham. If you would ever want me to write a little bit about ways to take care of your teeth or something like that, just let me know. I feel like with everything else…nutrition, medicine…knowledge is powerful and sometimes people don’t even know they are doing things wrong or incorrectly. I promise going to the dentist is not always painful…trust me, I am the biggest wimp ever…..I might even still tear up at the thought of getting a throat culture. Have a great rest of the day and good luck with the shins!
