Lunch

Quick Trip!

Whew! It’s 2:00 now and I just got back from my to-from Orlando trip (I left at 10:00–snacked on an apple on the way). I did, however, treat myself to one of my favorite lunch spots right next to my apartment that I never go to because it’s too expensive. It’s called Greens Grill and is one of those “build your own salad” places but more of a gourmet one. They also do these amazing sandwiches on a variety of fresh baked breads so today I picked a balsamic glazed portobella mushroom sandwich with avocado, caramelized onions, sundried tomatoes and spicy dijon mustard, all on a whole wheat foccacia. Outrageous!! It came with a side and I could choose chips, hummus and flatbread, a salad, mac & cheese or…….roasted veggies! I chose the veggies because I’ve had them before and they are great. It’s a medley of sweet corn, zucchini, summer squash, red onions, sweet potatoes and other yummy things.

I’m unpacking some things now and then I’m going over to the apartment to hopefully relax for a little bit with a new book by the pool…

For all you vegans out there–

Just out of curiosity, do vegans have to worry about how the bread in a sandwich like the one Jenna got from Greens Grill is made (i.e. if it has any dairy products in it or is made near other dairy products)? I’m still learning about veganism so I’m just not sure what products have the potential to not be vegan and which are ok. Also, for the veggies, wouldn’t a vegan have to make sure that they aren’t cooked in butter? Thanks!

I like Greens n’ Grill but also avoid it because of cost, it’s just a little high for things I can easily make at home. I love the mini cupcakes they have there though, too.

Gah Jenna, I’m pretty much your neighbor. Living by Millenia is dangerous for me… hard to keep it under control, lol!
