Reasons to Smile

I know I’ve said this in every post today, but I just wish yall were here with me because the weather today was absolutely gooooorgeous! Ah, I just LOVE it! Anyways, back to the food!

This afternoon I made a snackie bowl of 1/2 cup whipped cottage cheese, 1/2 cup graham “bumpers” (sort of like a healthy golden graham? I like golden grahams better still…) and a spoonful of peanut butter.

I ate it while I worked on a bible study that Erica and I are doing together! Oh, I just love bloggy online friends! πŸ™‚ Makes me smile.

About two hours later, I geared up and set out on my run. And run I did. It was fantastic! I did my favorite loop where I park my car at my old elementary school and run down the main “strip” next to the ocean. It felt so nice and cool because of the ocean breeze yet there wasn’t a cloud in the sky. My shin bothered me for about the first mile or so and then I didn’t even notice it. I did 5 miles in about 50 minutes. Yay!

When I got home I stretched, ICED, and refueled fast! Dinner was sort of random but aren’t all my meals kind of random right now with my interesting situation? I can’t wait to finally be home and cook gourmet meals again..and be able to cook for two! πŸ˜‰ Tonight I had 1 cup plain, nonfat yogurt, 2 organic turkey hotdogs with ketchup, a red bell pepper, some melon and strawberries and a toasted ezekiel muffin with a piece of reduced fat provolone.

Not even 1 hour later, I was beside myself famished again…..I guess my dinner needed some more “umph” to it.Β  It always seems like when I increase my mileage to anything over 3 1/2 miles, my appetite is instantly ramped up! Not that I’m complaining, since I’m burning tons of calories and love to eat but I hate feeling hungry. I raided the kitchen….was going to to go for the pumpkin bread, but then I decided I would rather have something hot and creamy. So, I made a packet of HempPlus Oatmeal (Nature’s Path) and added chocolate chips for a little sweetness!

Its a safe bet to say I’ll have another snack before bed tonight. I’m STILL hungry right now! I think I will go make a cup of tea, fold some laundry and see how I feel in half an hour when my tummy has settled a little bit. I hate and absolutely refuse to go to bed hungry so I might be eating some late night cereal! Haha

Tomorrow is pack to work! No wedding cakes to do but we have a very busy week ahead of us with over 800 people in banquets and club functions. I’m doin’ it all though with a smile on my face because I know after that horrendous deep clean on Friday afternoon, I am jumping in my car and headed HOME!!!!!!!Β

i’ve been complaining all day about being cold (your weather sounds amazing!)! it’s been in the sixties today, so my whines are rather pathetic. i’ve lived in the south about eight years and it’s definitely showing!

what bible study are you guys doing?…if you don’t mind me asking. I’m co-leading a bible study for my church’s small group right now, but we’re going to need an new books soon! I can relate to hunger. I had a ten miler this morning and I’ve been hungry all day. I almost never get in enough calories on long run days. My body burns more that my stomach can hold! i did just down some banana bread with almond butter and strawberry jam…Yum. At least I’m full for the moment!

    Sara F,

I don’t mind you asking! That’s great about you co-leading a study. I used to lead bible studies specifically targeted at middle schoolers and I loved it. I’d love to get back into it when I move home again. We are doing Beth Moore’s Believing God online bible study. It’s really great—it does cost about twenty bucks but its a 9 week study where every week you watch an hour video of her speaking and then you have 5 days of “homework” to do. It was totally worth the money! You can access the study from http://www.lifeway.com/believinggod . I think that Beth Moore also does some study packets you can buy from the site specifically for small group leaders so they can lead their own “in person” bible study. That would be very interesting!

77 degree weather sounds GREAT right now – we do have beautiful fall colors here but last night I had to bring my plants in because of frost…winter is certainly headed this way in the mountains of North Carolina. Jenna, I’m so glad I’m not the only one who eats wacky combos of food for dinner…tonight I had a salad with tofu and veggies, popcorn and fat free french vanilla yogurt with chocolate chips…hmmmm.

I’m glad I’m not the only one who is forced to eat “random” dinners. I can’t wait to be in my own kitchen soon!!

Your week is going to fly by, yay for home visits!! Have a wonderful night/morning πŸ™‚

Looks like a fun-packed weekend! Glad you are enjoying church, it’s one of my favorite times of the week!
I was wondering how you deal with others if or when they offer you lots of snacks/foods/desserts you don’t feel like eating. Sometimes, when I am with others who don’t pursue healthy eating, I feel like I am constantly saying, “No thanks”…do you ever feel this way? Food is such a huge part of socializing so I don’t want to be a damper but also don’t want to just eat to please!

Your dinner looks like mine tonite, just a mish mosh of whatever I felt like eating. Sometimes it’s a good thing.

    Sarah,

That is definitely a sticky situation! I hate to hurt anyone’s feelings so usually I either eat it or have a small bite/piece. If I REALLY just don’t feel like it at all though, I politely decline. It’s hard sometimes and you may feel awkward, but it’s your life and if you don’t like or want something, you shouldn’t feel pressured into having it.
