Wow, I think I actually like this 12-8 type deal. I got SO much done this morning! I did laundry, went to the gym, VOTED, did my bible study and bought a surprise for Ryan, which I mailed out at the post office. 😉 Now I’m all ready for work and hoping it won’t be too crazy of a day/night!
Here’s what I did at the gym though:
20 minutes of elliptical on hill mode
2 sets of eagle leg crunches (which I demo here) — 18 reps each set
2 sets of reverse crunches—18 reps each set
2 sets (each leg) of lunges on bozu ball–15 reps
2 sets of calf press—50 lbs, 15 reps
2 sets of hip abduction—50 lbs, 15 reps
2 sets of hip adduction—50 lbs, 15 reps
I stayed about 45 minutes or so and it was a pretty good workout. I was sweaty and the elliptical wasn’t SO bad with the latest Shape magazine and US weekly by my side. 🙂
After I worked out and while I ran errands I snacked on this monster sized honey crisp apple:
And I got these at the drug store because they were totally necessary:
I think I dug all the red ones out and ate them 😉
I knew I needed a filling lunch today so I made a meal that combined a healthy amount of protein, complex carbs and fat to keep me going. I heated up a cup of Glen Muir Organic Lentil Soup and had it with a toasted ezekiel muffin with a few tbsp hummus and a slice of swiss cheese:
Let’s just say Amy’s Split Pea soup blew this soup away. It was just okay…sort of watery. The flavor was good but I like my split pea soup really thick and creamy. This wasn’t that at all.
As for tonight, I may just eat staff meal or I may eat this:
With the bar for a mid-afternoon snackie.
Okay lovlies—I’m off to be a working girl! Remember, you can get free coffee AND free ice cream tonight if you have your “I Voted” sticker! If I get off early enough I am going to try to find the ice cream….haha!

November 4, 2008 at 11:09 amHi Jenna! I just wanted to tell you that reading your blog makes me happy! Your food choices always seem so logical and intuitive, like you really listen to you body and feed it what it needs. For some reason, you make it look so easy, and yet in real life it’s so hard!
Sounds like God is doing good things in your life. Keep listening to Him!

November 4, 2008 at 12:34 pmHi Jenna…
Quick question. I recently bought this new brand of organic natural peanut butter that said it was a no stir kind… (which I prefer!!). However, the ingredients listed “organic palm oil”, which I am guessing is a preservative and is why it doesnt say that it needs to be refregirated. Is this kind still ok? should I stick to the usual “peanuts, salt” kind of natural peanut butter?

I’ve heard wonderful things about honeycrisp apples, but have never had one. I definetely need to get my hands on one since apples are the best fruit (well, one of them).
I voted absentee a while ago, but I’m sooo looking forward to tomorrow and seeing who won!!

November 4, 2008 at 5:08 pmWork that elliptical! Your legs will heal, it just takes time. And it doesn’t matter what your body is “made” to do…it just matters what makes you smile. That said, yoga is the bomb for recuperation.

November 4, 2008 at 7:20 pmamb,
Hmm I’m not sure? I want to make my blog as personal as it can be so it steps apart from all the other billion food blogs out there! Just posting three times a day can be sort of ….boring? I like you all to know I am a real person and have real loves and passions other than food! It’s not ALL about food! I hope I bring a well rounded perspective to this blog so it best reflects myself as a person and not just another blog reader. My faith is the most important thing to me and I like to bring a personal aspect of myself to you! 🙂
Megan
November 4, 2008 at 7:45 pmGlad you like your new schedule!
Yeah for gummy bears!

November 4, 2008 at 7:58 pmHey Jenna!
I was just wondering what Bible study you’re currently doing? I’ve been looking for a new one, but haven’t been able to look too much lately for a new structured one. I’m doing my own thing right now, but my classes will be done in December (yay!), so I’ll be ready to get back into something deeper.

November 4, 2008 at 8:29 pmHi, Jenna. I agree that Amy’s soups (esp. Lentil Vegetable, holla!) are super, but have you tried Tabatchnick? The frozen-soup-in-a-bag thing is a little lame, but beyond that they’re awesome and 100% natural (and quite affordable!) I highly recommend 🙂

November 4, 2008 at 9:33 pmPlanet Smoothie was giving $1 off if you had a voting sticker, too!
I have a Tandoor Chef Chana Masaala in my freezer for lunch later in the week! They’re the best, aren’t they?

November 4, 2008 at 9:42 pmJenna!
OH MY! I had no idea about your faith and I’m so stinking excited to hear about it! While I love coming to your blog to see what yummy meals you’ve just created, I also love the fact that you are sharing about your faith. It’s encouraging to another believer like myself. I hope you are figuring out everything that’s going on in your life! God has it under control. That’s something I’m learning daily!

November 4, 2008 at 10:16 pmi hate my 12-8 days (i do them 2 times a week.) I just cant get motivated to get anything done before work. I like the 5:15am to 1:30 pm days the best. It stinks getting up early but having the whole afternoon and evening to do whatever I want is the best.

November 4, 2008 at 11:54 pmJenna,
I love reading your blog, it’s great to read about your day AND reading about your faith. You are right, it does make you even more real and I am so happy to read what you have to say. God is the most important thing in my life and I’m glad you are not afraid to talk about your faith, makes you all that much more adorable!! Keep doing what you’re doing and have an awesome day!!!

November 5, 2008 at 12:20 amWow. I’m going to be checking out your blog even more closely as I aim to really get more and more clean/organic with my ‘diet’. I hate how much fake food is still leftover, I want to branch out and try new things….your blog really inspires me to try these new things…YUMMY. And as another Christian woman, I applaud you for being ‘out there’ with your faith, that’s fantastic. A bunch of us gals on my blog are working on goals- goals to strengthen ourselves physically and spiritually ~ becoming stronger inside and out. Love it!!! 😉
